  1. Try some flaxseed oil as well. Maybe you could purchase some of the BARF patties and give them a go. What does your recipe include? I actually make up the veggie/fruit slops and give a few spoonfulls of that as well as whatever meat they are getting for the day ie. chicken necks, kangaroo, sardines, lamb bones.
  2. Could be the start of kennel cough. Does she have snot?
  3. Is it kind of like Cystic Fibrosis in humans? I was going to suggest that maybe the dog has a hiatus hernia which is when the stomach moves up into the thoracic cavity. This can cause phenomia and the dog to have a heavy breathing and a cough. Usually the vet will have to inject dye into the dog in order for the xrays/images to show up.
  4. I have know of dogs to eat grass to try and throw up and if you are saying she is constipated then she probably is doing the grass eating for this very reason. Personally I would say that beef mince and my dog is a horrible diet as I feed a BARF diet. For the constipation try a can of sardines or adding oil to her food. If you must give her my dog I would be changing the beef mince to chicken necks three times a week, sardines once a week and lamb bones at least twice a week.
  5. Wouldn't the wax remover that is used to wipe off excess wax from us humans after waxing if finished get the wax off? I have a bottle of it in the bathroom. I think it would be pretty safe to just pour onto the hair or if you were concerned then soak a cloth in it. I guess there goes your smooth legs for a nice day untill you sort out your doggy.
  6. Most of us own rejects. It may be a long shot but my boy pugs hair changed texture from being dull and coarse to being shiny and soft and it lenghtened from changing his diet over from dry food to a BARF/RAW diet. His itchy skin also improved vastly. PM me if you want the feeding routine I use. Also Omega 3 oils and Evening Primrose Oil are supposed to help with hair and skin issues.
  7. Pigs ears are very fatty and dogs can choke on them when they become soft. I don't feed them at all. Maybe get some kongs and fill them with treats or get some really big bones that she can't bury.
  8. Mine get their food at 5pm. If it's bone day they will get that at about 12pm.
  9. Unprocessed cheese like cottage cheese is supposed to be good for dogs. I would stear clear of the other sorts of cheese but once in a while a little bit isn't going to do much harm. My lot get flung little bits of cheese by every now and again by my father as treats. Strawberries, apples & pears are great for dogs. Mine love all sorts of fruit and veggies and get a variety added to their BARF slops. They also get pieces as treats.
  10. With the rescue pugs that have been on heat whilst in my care there was bloody discharge for the whole 3 weeks. If she has no discharge then it would be pretty safe to asume it's all over.
  11. Very glad she has been to see a vet and is on antibiotics. Hopefully they will help. I suspected because of her age that they wouldn't operate.
  12. Does she have a cough with it as well? Could be part of the Kennel Cough virus. Is she really snotty? If it doesn't improve over two weeks I would be taking her to the vets to get some tests done.
  13. Grab some chicken carcuss mince (sometimes called pet mince) from either your butcher or Lenards. This mince has the chicken bones crushed up in it so is perfect for puppies. Lamb bones such as ribs are also great for puppies as they are soft enough for them to chew up. When feeding meat you have to make sure that you also feed bone with it so that you have the right ratio of calcium (bone) to phosphorus (meat) otherwise growth issues can arise.
  14. If your dogs can swallow them without a problem then they are fine. The necks are digested in the tummies. It's the swallowing part that you have to be warried about as that is when they can choke. I cut the pugs chicken necks up into half finger sized pieces. That way they chew on the pieces a few times before they swallow them and the pieces are small enough for them to swallow without choking on them.
  15. OMG poor doggy she definatley has an infection if you say it's pus like. She definatley needs to see a vet and if the owners don't take her then they should be reported.
  16. Sounds like anal glands. Get the vet to express them when you are there.
  17. As said before it can take a while for the body to detox so give the BARF some time. Get her off the prednisalone and try some normal human antihistamine tablets. I use Claratyne if my boy has a flare up. The dirty rash you describe sounds like a yeast infection rash. My boy used to get it all the time in his groin area before I switched to BARF feeding.
  18. BARF SLOPS INGREDIENTS & METHOD Things I always include: - container of alfala spouts - bunch of spinach (roots cut off) - 1 to 2 green capsicums (stalk cut off & seeds out) - 1 to 2 red caspsicums (stalk cut off & seeds removed) - bag of carrots - bunch of celary - 4 zuccinis - 3 to 4 oranges (peeled) - 1 pumpkin (seeds removed) - 2 to 4 apples (pips taken out) - 2 to 4 bannanas (peeled) - 8 to 10 eggs (whole including shell) - flaxseed oil (approx 250mL) - kelp (approx 100g) What else you can put in: - bunch of silverbeet - turnip - squash - sweet potato - 2 to 4 pears - half to 1 pinapple - brussel sprouts - brocoli - cauliflower - bag of beans - Apple Cider Vinegar - Vitamin C Chop up then process up in blender/food processor so that things turn to slops. Put each blender batch into a big bucket. Usually leave the eggs & flaxseed oil for things that don't blend very well like the pumpkin and carrots. Ingredients should fill up a bucket. Mix bucket with big ladel till all mixed through then put into take away containers & freeze untill needed.
  19. If i can get them to stand still I am happy. I use an old outdoor tale to put them on.
  20. Yep lumps as reaction to vaccinations happen. Usually are hard and marble like, sometimes as big as ping pong balls, slowly going down over a few weeks. Just keep an eye on it and I am sure it will decrease in size and eventually go away.
  21. :nahnah: The pugs love 'possum poo treaties'
  22. Doesn't work for those with the missing digestive enzyme.
  23. Is it just her own poo that she eats or others? If it's just her own poo then maybe she has some stomach/digestive enzymes lacking that break down the food. Her food might be going straight through her so she gives it another go when it come out the other end because it still smells and tastes like food.
  24. They can get them in their nose rolls but more often on thier chops (black bit) or under their mouth.
  25. Um yes pugs get pimples. How old is he? Get some human Phisohex facewash from the chemist and clean his face with that.
