  1. We now own our second Lakeland Terrier. Neither of them have been diggers so perhaps it's only a trait of some terriers. They've both been full of fun, always ready for a game and always entertaining. On the down side they can be stubborn and not hugely food motivated making them hard to train with distractions around. I suspect most people who dislike terriers have never actually owned one!
  2. Well I made the mistake of trying to drive out of Midland Gate shopping centre because the centre was flooded and drove into water about 1 metre high. Tried to reverse but my engine died and when I opened the door to get out my car filled with water. I had to wait 2 hours in wet clothes waiting for my husband to get to me as he was stuck in traffic. I'm just waiting to hear if my 18 month old car will be written off
  3. Has anyone here used Julie's Boarding kennels in Malaga recently? We need to board our girl for 2 nights while we move house and it's not going to be practical to go out to one in Canning Vale.
  4. I sometimes use them, only side effect is a lot of the roughage gets pooped out! When I posted a similar question last year quite a few people were using them and seemed happy with them
  5. Spotty, I bought mine from the vet shed with no problems.
  6. I've been feeding my dog mostly raw human-grade beef mince, with no skin or allergy problems. Now I'm confused about the right thing to give her :D
  7. I have done. I'll be back this year for proofing so we're trial ready :p . http://www.midlanddogtraining.com/ I'm planning to enrol next month as we're moving up to the hills soon. If you see me come and say hello, I'll be the harrassed looking women with the mad Lakeland Terrier who wants to play with everydog or person in sight
  8. Are there any DOLers who go to Midland Dog Training Club?
  9. Fran, I've seen some good prices for these cameras recently, I think one was in the Harvey Norman catalogue.
  10. Could you explain the difference in temperaments to me, I haven't met many poodles??
  11. Our Lakeland loves to 'snorkel' especially if she's hot. And if there's a nice cool bucket of water handy she's in heaven!
  12. Thanks for the tip, I've just ordered it along with Crate Games
  13. Thanks for those suggestions, I'll try the free downloads and see how I go.
  14. I'd really like to start editing some photos and am thinking of buying Photoshop. Any recommendations for a beginner?
  15. Good grief, which school was that - I need to avoid it?? Edit - have just noticed it was in NSW not Perth - that's a relief
  16. As long as you're an early riser I've just looked at the map and Darlington to Gnangara is miles - I would have preferred Gidge!
  17. Me too, but it ain't gonna happen! Gidgegannup I thought it is in Gnangara / Lexia out near Whiteman Park That's weird, I'm sure when I looked a while ago they met in Gidge - we're moving to the hills when our house is finished so Gnangara's even worse
  18. I thought about trying this a while ago but getting to Gidgegannup for 8am on a Saturday morning would kill me!
  19. Hi Tiggy, I think I did something like Rally-O when I completed the Delta basic training so yes, would be interested in a seminar. Would need to greatly improve my dog's heeling though!
  20. I'd be interested in hearing about the advantages of the front connect harness over the back connect ones if anyone here has used both?
  21. I know how you feek CW, my dog also has very dark nails. Can somebody tell me exactly what Dremel tool I need to buy - I'm thinking it's the rotary tool?
  22. Thanks for the advice, I've still got a lot to learn. Without seeing the coat & presuming it has agood thick type of coat i would be using an #8.5 for the bum & #10 for the ears but as Vehs said you can use a #10 for the bum aswell. The clip on combs are generally used to do Bichons, fluffies, poodles & the likes to maintain that fluffy look that the blades dont always get. We have mini schnauzers aswell & have never used the clip on combs except for maybe shortening legs but we prefer to hand scissor. Im gathering your stripping the top coat or rolling & just want to tidy the ears, bum, belly & throat? Yes, that's right although would like to keep stripping the throat if she will keep still!! It would be nice to buy a few different blades but they are so expensive, will a #5 be too long for the bum? I did use the #10 on it last time but it was quite short compared to the rest of the coat, although it blended in after a week or so.
  23. Thanks for the advice, I've still got a lot to learn.
  24. You might find she's squeezing through the bars, our pup could get through ours when she was small. We had a puppy pen we used when we were out although she worked out how to open the door within the first week, luckily it was easy to secure it with a spring clip!!
