Hopefully this will ensure others doing the same or similar take note and hopefully provide the adequate care and housing of all animals that they take in. Being an ethical and responsible shelter means making hard decisions based on the animals welfare not our own emotions. Each animal that comes in should have it's own file with notes and photos so that they have a history from the moment they walk through the door so in cases like this "where the kitten arrived last night" they can provide evidence even if it is small

Wow that is a big call especially since I don't think you even gave Lumen's current age but even I know that one dog does not make fact when it comes to health issues

Unless you can edit other members posts the only person that allows people to express their views is Troy as he can remove them. I own a different LGD breed and have had 2 - CAO & ASD and both are so very different but having a breeder that I can ask advice on how to train a LGD breed is very important, proven working lines are what is also a key factor in my opinion, they can be as pretty as you like but they need to be able to work. Luckily I have the bonus of working lines and a very pretty well put together dog - bonus

Dogs that have not yet been made available do not go to public events or photo ops, why would they when they have plenty that are available and awaiting adoption. It makes no sense to even think they would bring out an unassessed, unvetted dog just to do a photo op. My own kitten was used for media advertising for the RSPCA adoption a few years ago and he never went there

To be honest I think they need to stop sticking their heads out of each others backsides and start opening their eyes

From my experience with working at the AWL the worst thing to happen would be to give them more power, animals cause emotive reactions unfortunately many that scream the loudest based their actions on emotions not experience and many would probably have a much different view if they had the personal experience that many do

As far as I am aware she was not at all responsible for the current reports and I am sure many many people have made reports before. TBH is people had to make reprts back in 2009 and the conditions were the same 3-4 years later it says more about the shelter to me rather than the people making the reports

I'm confused.. on the Moorook page or other rescues pages? No on private pages from other rescue people, people that no doubt would be members here and wondering if it is about what they wrote and if they are wondering that the answer is probably yes. Nothing to do with Moorook directly just other people trying to lay the blame on what happened on innocent people but words come back to haunt people. To be honest I have never had any experience with Moorook but there will be events hopefully starting in the near future that will have an effect on all rescues in SA with any luck and that is when people need to make sure they are doing the right thing

Unfortunately T some rescues gauge their ethics not by how well they run their rescue but how many facebook likers their group can get. There should be no ego in rescue the outcome should be rehoming vetted, behaviourally sound animals into responsible homes and forsaking our own feelings on what rescue should be and putting the animals and community first and if people are unable to do that they are doing the animals no favours
