  2. Vickie, i have always loved your photos and your gorgeous doggies, looks like they all had a ball. So sorry to hear about Zeus. I hope you decide to pick the camera up more often this year!!
  3. Thanks again for all the replies. Glad the hospitals are a bit more pedantic than the vets by the sounds of it.
  4. That's what I thought? Anyway it's no biggy just thought the good old DOL brain trust would give me some ideas I wouldnt bother ringing them for $7 they are good vets and are very good to me when I need them, they fit me in on a moments notice, they let me have an account, they do all the girls Delta testing for free and are just generally good vets. Thanks for all the input.

  6. Have a look in the nutrition forum and see the black hawk thread, there is lots of info there about it. I think it is great all mine eat it now and are doing very well on it.
  7. No sutures, no bandages, It was for Lacy she had ben really sick vomiting and not being able to go to the toilet so I took her in and the vet did a rectal examination on her and she had something stuck in her back passage so they decided to give her a GA and do an enema to see if they could clear it which they did thank god. But it was pretty cut and dried in and out. I guess it could have been swabs? Like I said just curious. Is $85 a reasonable price for a anaesthesia? and $65 for an enema? They only charged me a short consult fee of $35 so the bill all up with the injecton and the tablets plus the consumables was $206.70 I guess prices may depend on the vet and where you live too. It's been a long time since I had a vet bill over $100 and I got a shock to see the total.
  8. Hi guys, just a quick question about a vet bill I just recieved. Just wondering what it means if the bill includes consumables? It is probly something extremely obvious that I am missing but I can't figure it out. I thought maybe meds but metacam injection and metrogyl tablets are itemised seperatley, as are the consult, the Anaesthesia and the procedure. So any clues what consumables is at a cost of $7.30 it's not the money I am just curious as to what it is and am going to feel really stupid if it is something obvious!

  14. When I say shave off I mean 10 blade. Not long ago one of Coopers brothers went to the groomers and when I seen him initially I didn't recognize him, not an ounce of fur anywhere.

  17. Been a bit quiet in here! I caught up with JJ today, he's moved but no pc yet, but he will be back on the air soon. Lacy is much better thank goodness, but no hospital yesterday thought I'd give her a couple weeks to get any nasties out of her system. Tanya, did you hear anything back from the council re: nasty dog?

  19. 3 dogs in the same water, geeeezs that's just gross! I think in the case if the lady I know, she didn't have a clue and the groomer took advantage of it. She explained who it was and I think it is the same guy who gave Cooper his clip 4 years ago and I never went back, he didn't do what I asked him to do and hacked his fur off, he looked hidious!! I have photos if anyone wants a look. Sorry getting a nit off topic, but the grooming stories always get my interest. After the ordeal with Cooper I went somewhere else and had a dramav with them too, I'm pretty sure what happened there and it changed Cooper forever, so after that I found a lovely lady that did a fabulous job and charged by memory I think it was $40 per dog. Then she stopped grooming due to other commitments, so that was when I decided to do my own. And I've never looked back, I'm certainly no expert but at least I can have them the way I want them and not have to pay a fortune. We are very limited in this town for groomers, I think there is only 3 maybe 4 and I've seen clips from all of them.
  20. I think your price sounds very reasonable. In think the thing is people don't realize the time and effort it takes to groom a dog and that's not taking into account if you get one that is fully matted that hasn't had a proper groom for ages. I groom my 4 myself and constantly have people/friends ask me where I take them, on saying I do it myself they ask if I will do theirs, my answer is always NO. I love doing my own but it's not something I would like to do for other people/dogs. I am in awe of dog groomers ( good ones) it's not always an easy job. A bit off topic, a lady who came to our obedince school with her pup, he was an oodle, ( cav x poo I think) he was fluffy and about 5 months old, no knots at all. She took him to a groomer here in town and she didn't know what to ask for she just said give him a hair cut. Well he looked like the groomer had used a 10 blade all over, he had no fur left at all. I was horrified. Is that a usual practice?
  21. More great shots guys, Welcome back Kja, so glad your ok! Is it just me or do number seem to be dwindling in this thread, I'm sprised I'm still here 33/365 The threee Amigos! by CLTB, on Flickr
  22. I have a friend who lost her GSD due to chocking on a tennis ball, absloutley nothing she could do, she tried everything and the dog dies in her arms, just heart breaking. Our head trainer at our obedience school tells owners of bigger dogs GSD, ROtt, Dobe size etc that if they are going to play fetch or let thier dogs play with balls to put the ball in a sock so that if it goes down to far you can grab the sock and pull it out. I have a lot of friends that still just use ball on its own. Scary stuff I hope your arm is ok and you get over the fright of it, what a terrible thing to have happen, lucky you were home!
