Thats a pity I know how you feel, Selfies are not my thing, too hard, might have a crack if I get a remote. Not sure about your card issue? I have had a play today, the back yard int he arvo can be tough light so much sun and shadows today, I have a big shaded area from buses too but I had fun, so did the dogs. Ok I have a question for RAW users, can I import a RAW file to LR and then just edit it to a preset and thats it? I am not sure Im doing the RAW thing right as I look at the pics and think they look fine and don't need anything doing to them?? I tweak them a bit, but not much and I think they look ok, they way I hear people talk about RAW files I feel I'm not doing enough to them? ANyway here are two that were RAW with a preset added, do you think they work? Im working on getting the whole body in as I usually only get the top half. Thoughts anyone?

triple post, whoops!

I am really partial to any white dogs, I just love the lighter colours, very dam hard to keep them clean though especially with a full coat and a park full of horse poo. Raineth, you have a dane right? For some reason I thought you had a lab?

Tanya she is adorable! So alert looking too, her eyes are just beautiful.

We were posting at the same time. I guess each camera has so many different functions on it, and the capabilities that the 1000D had would be limited compared to the 7D so I totally get what your saying.
-
Thanks again for the replies, Linda thats all I am wanting is people opinions, its interesting to hear the replies, Ive just been in the back yard having a good play with my 7D, the pics looked ok in camera will see what they are like shortly! So far impressed with the 7D and what it can do, As far as crop bodies go, a lot of people say its the glass that make a huge difference and that may be the case but would you really get pics exactly the same if you use a cheap entry level camera with the same lens as a more expensive camera? If that was the case there would be one camera and lots of different lenses.

Gorgeous Kirislin, what a doll she is, love the crossed legged pose! She looks like she loves the camera!

 Its amazing how hard it is to get good shots of them, I love my white girl with a good colourful back ground, I think black dogs are harder to shoot than white. Ive just been to the hospital to do my volunteer work with Tully and her ebign white and the other dog that we go with being black, the photos are always a bit hit and miss, I just snap away with my iPhone. They are like ebonie and ivory. Black and White & the good old iPhone!

I had a  when I read this, can't you just put a big square over the rude bits! No seriously I will look forward to seeing what else you come up with, This method sounds interesting but hard I remember Rev Jos pic of the dog on the hill side, it looked great.

Great capture Annie, white dogs are tough! When I looked at the picture I thought Mmmmm that dog doesn't look like a boxer. Then I realized boxer had to be his name! Do you love your 30mm?

Thanks for the replies, it really is interesting to hear what others think especially you guys who do work professionally, I really value your opinions and feel lucky that I can come here and post and get replies from professionals. Snook, I can totally understand how your D700 would be amazing compared to your Canon. I definatley don't think I'm missing out on anything, perhaps if I used a 5D or a D800 it might be a different story but for now I feel blessed to be able to shot with the 7D and who knows it might do me for a good while or forever. I'm really just curious of the differences apart from the very obvious. I just found a good (well I think it's good) comparison between the 5D mk2 and the D800, coming from someone who while not fully professional but heading that way, it was interesting to hear his point of view on both the cameras after extensive tests. Now I need to find a crop v ff to give me even more of an idea. 5D v D800

Hi guys, I have been wondering about this for ages and especially since I got my 7D. When I was in the shop the guy who sold me my camera is a Nikon man and tried to talk me into going back to D7000 but I had made up my mind between the two so I stuck with the Canon, so then he said well if your going to go Canon why not go with the 5D, of course I wasn't prepared for this mainly due to the initial cost, (I had initially thought about it but due to the weight of the full frames didn't think I would manage one) but if I upgrade again (which won't be for a long time) the logical choice would be a to a full frame. So my question is this what sort of differences are there with a full frame body that there isn't with a crop, the most obvious one being the picture is equivalent to the 35mm, which I understand if you shoot a crop next to a full frame with the same lens on the full frame shot will have more picture. So what else do the full frame bodies have, do they have more features? I know the mega pixel rate is higher. I know there is a lot here that have full frame cameras now, Huga, Snook, you guys spring to mind. Kirislin, you have mentioned a couple of times about one of your lenses not fitting on a full frame are you thinking about upgrading?? I remember something someone said a while ago, I think it was Shell and this was one of the things that sold me not he 7D, she said the 5D was not real good for action shots and dogs running towards her, she may have been talking about the mk2 not the mk3, I have read about a lot of issues with the mk2 and the auto focus, have they fixed this problem with the mk3 So hit me people, tell me the ins and outs of the full frame and help me understand why they are better or is it that they are just different. I know I won't regret getting the 7D and couldn't afford the Full frame anyway but just curious and its been something Ive been thinking about for ages, I can read what the differences are but would love to hear in easy to understand language what users think of them.

Puck looks so happy! Lovely shot. Vickie, I have always admired your photos, that one of Shine is just lovely, love the foot up! Huga, your project sounds interesting!

 Pity we didn't have endless supply of money, I'd have one of everything. Snook, I know what you mean, I love taking pics if the dogs but really want to expand, I'm going bowling with work peeps tomorrow night, I'd love to take the camera and try it out, even if the shots were bad it would still be good practice. Low light and action, they'd probly all be aweful.

The sooner they leave town the better! Even at 50% off their prices would still be ridiculously expensive! Tenties how's Bundy/Bailey settling back in with you? Will you look for another home for him? People are just shit hey!!
-
Yay for Skeeter! He is so adorable!!
-
I ended up ordering the Sigma 17-70, I couldn't justify getting the camera bag when I could put the money towards another lens, I'll start saving for the 70 - 200 f4 now, might take a while. Hope I've done the right thing!
-
Hope it arrives in one piece. I'm also waiting on a little package in the mail.

So far I have used the timer function, I set it on the tripod or something sturdy and usually put something in the spot where I am going to be and focus the camera on that then press the shutter, you have 10 seconds or whatever time your camera allows you to get in position. I have no idea if this is how its meant to be done but it does work.

Ok thanks, good to know, I must look into getting one. At our obedience school I have only ever met one Frenchie and one Boston, both black the Bostons name was Audrey and she was a crack up, easy to teach and picked up things right away, the Frenchie was called Gigi and she on the other hand was such a handful. Would not pay one ounce of attention to her owner and literally just did not listen and was not focused on anything but the other dogs, She was hard work and a very head strong little dog. I can't ever seem to tell them apart although I think Bostons are slighter in the frame than Frenchies? Anyway back on topic, Lollipup I swear I typed lollipup but my Mac auto corrects for me,

I totally forgot to say thanks for the feed back on my shots, I have been fiddling with the camera tonight and now understand a bit more about the focusing aspect. I watched a tutorial about the AI focus and AI servo mode and was pleased to understand that if the subject is moving the camera can focus (track) as it goes with the subject. One thing I thought was weird when the guy in the shop was trying to talk me into the going back to the nikon D7000, he said the Canon won't focus on every shot in burst mode but the Nikon will, and I thought that was weird because whats the point of having burst mode if that was the case then your first shot would be sharp but the rest shot in that burst would be blurry?? Surely thats not right? Huga love your session with the Lady and her dog, is the dog a Frenchie or a Boston, very cute which ever breed, especially love the one with the dog and the legs. I have ambitiously tried for a long time to get a pic (selfie) of me walking with one of the dogs next to me looking up, boy is it hard! I have one shot that I almost like. Must have another crack with the new camera. This might sound like a stupid question but if you are using a remote shutter does the remote focus the camera before the shot or do you have to set the shot up before you take the picture with the remote? and also can you use continuous (burst) mode with a remote? Lollipop did yours turn up yet? And Snook have you got your Mac yet?
