  1. Thats weird mine never let rain in.
  2. Yes, some dogs do, but not all dogs will eat them, the problem is they are no longer easy to dose the dog with if they dont.
  3. The OP took all precautions to ensure the security of her dogs and to keep them contained, the neighbours now need to lift their game and ensure that THEIR pup is safe. Why is it that no one can accept respopnsibility for their own, you buy a pup you keep it safe, it isn't rocket science. They have have time to fix this, they haven't.
  4. Pop into the local horse supplies or stock feed and buy some Muscaban spray to spray on the dogs, works like a charm.

Not by me. It's healthy to have other points of view. But it's understandable why Peta's not approved by members of a p/b dog forum. Peta reduces all issues about companion dogs, to a stated position 'all breeders should stop breeding'. It's like some other organisation saying that every problem facing humankind can be fixed via 'all humans should stop having babies'. Peta has a fundamentalist ideology about companion dogs which doesn't stand up to reason....or science. So it's not surprising there's anxiety that their activism might include doing something plain silly or harmful. sadly, trying to counter extremists/fundamentalists word for word seems to work like pouring water on an oil fire. I will often stick up for the RSPCA. I think PETA are a bunch of nutters. But I think it's best to let nutters do their nutty things without comment . . . they thrive on adversity. Tolerance stops if they really step over the line. If they are poisoning dogs at shows, they have gone into the terrorist realm that offends almost everyone and cannot be defended. If this has been done, it's time to come down on them like a load of bricks. PETA have stepped over the line many times, not just in relation to dogs, they openly state they will use any means to achieve their goals, they are purely and simply dangerous extremists.

In reply to you, I quote jdavis' well-put post: KKDD -If you are goin to support PETA, perhaps you should re-think your membership of a puerbred dog forum. I know many members here are people who merely own & love dogs, be they purebred or "mutts", but many of us are people who breed and/or show dogs, PAY to belong to DOL and find comments such as yours extremely offensive. Speaking of extremists who go off half-cocked... Im not sure where I have stated support for PETA, I smply commented that Iv not seen any evidence to support the extreme anti-PETA position of many DOLers which is quite often expressed in (ironically) violent terms. The thread started with a post about PETA poisoning dog's water, with no factual material to back it up. Other claims Iv read on DOL about what PETA does or wants to do, appear to be long and apocalyptic assumptions drawn selectively from published material, although I agree there is some stuff they appear to advocate that most of us would disagree with. But the material that has been posted in reponse to my post doesnt justify the extremeness of veiws and statements I see expressed on DOL. And now its being suggested that I should leave DOL? You crack me up. :D
  7. We have clients with a litter of pups one of which was resuscitated last week after having been down a carpet snake up to its hips, pup looked dead when they found it but, is now running around with it's litter mates happy as larry. I think it really depends on the size of the snake and the size of the animal it is trying to swallow as to the approach the snake takes.
  8. And how do you know that the Breeder of this bitch hasn't done all these things. In an ideal world people would be responsible and use their heads, we shouldn't have to legislate, draw up contracts or rip the organs out of baby pups to stop this.
  9. Isn't chicken meal and salmon meal just squished whole chickens and whole salmon? Yes, but the chicken etc. used is of inferior quality Perhaps but still human grade. I don't think so. Jump on to google and see what really is in pet food. Having been inside some Petfood manufacturing plants and having friends in the industry, there is a big difference between the ingredients of the top brands and that of the lower priced brands. Roadkill and Euthanased animals do not feature in Australian products or in the super premium brands. If you want to feed organic free range human consumption meats to your pets then that is all well and good, but there is nothing wrong with feeding a good quality processed food if that is what the owner chooses and the dog thrives on. Chicken feet, chicken necks, carcasses, offal, bones and offcuts are all perfectly acceptable food sources for dogs some of us might feel better feeding them prime cuts, but they don't need them.

Quotes from the PETA bitch herself Ingrid Newkirk Quotes “There is no hidden agenda. If anybody wonders about -- what’s this with all these reforms -- you can hear us clearly. Our goal is total animal liberation. [emphasis added]” — “Animal Rights 2002” convention, Jun 2002 “The bottom line is that people don't have the right to manipulate or to breed dogs and cats... If people want toys, they should buy inanimate objects. If they want companionship, they should seek it with their own kind.” — Animals, May 1993 “Even if animal tests produced a cure for AIDS, we’d be against it.” — PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk, in the September 1989 issue of Vogue, Sep 1989 “There’s no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. They’re all animals.” — Washingtonian magazine, Aug 1986 “We’re looking for good lawsuits that will establish the interests of animals as a legitimate area of concern in law.” — Insight on the News, Jul 2000 “I am not a morose person, but I would rather not be here. I don’t have any reverence for life, only for the entities themselves. I would rather see a blank space where I am. This will sound like fruitcake stuff again but at least I wouldn’t be harming anything.” — The Washington Post, Nov 1983 “We are complete press sluts.” — Ingrid Newkirk, in The New Yorker, Apr 2003 “I wish we all would get up and go into the labs and take the animals out or burn them down.” — "National Animal Rights Convention", Jun 1997 “I openly hope that it [hoof-and-mouth disease] comes here. It will bring economic harm only for those who profit from giving people heart attacks and giving animals a concentration camp-like existence. It would be good for animals, good for human health and good for the environment.” — ABC News interview, Apr 2001 “Six million people died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughterhouses. [emphasis added]” — The Washington Post, Nov 1983 “Probably everything we do is a publicity stunt ... we are not here to gather members, to please, to placate, to make friends. We're here to hold the radical line.” — USA Today, Sep 1991 “In the end, I think it would be lovely if we stopped this whole notion of pets altogether.” — Newsday, Feb 1988 “One day, we would like an end to pet shops and the breeding of animals. [Dogs] would pursue their natural lives in the wild ... they would have full lives, not wasting at home for someone to come home in the evening and pet them and then sit there and watch TV.” — The Chicago Daily Herald, Mar 1990 “Would I rather the research lab that tests animals is reduced to a bunch of cinders? Yes.” — New York Daily News, Dec 1997 “More power to SHAC if they can get someone’s attention.” — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals president & co-founder Ingrid Newkirk, in The Boston Herald, August 25, 2002 “I will be the last person to condemn ALF [the Animal Liberation Front].” — The New York Daily News, Dec 1997 “I don’t use the word 'pet.' I think it’s speciesist language. I prefer 'companion animal.' For one thing, we would no longer allow breeding. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance.” — The Harper's Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989, p.223 “I plan to send my liver somewhere in France, to protest foie gras (liver pate) ... I plan to have handbags made from my skin ... and an umbrella stand made from my seat.” — PETA President Ingrid Newkirk speaking to onMilwaukee.com, Feb 2005 “Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation.” — Harper's, Aug 1988 “Perhaps the mere idea of receiving a nasty missive will allow animal researchers to empathize with their victims for the first time in their lousy careers. I find it small wonder that the laboratories aren’t all burning to the ground. If I had more guts, I’d light a match.” — The Chronicle of Higher Education, Nov 1999 “Humans have grown like a cancer. We're the biggest blight on the face of the earth.” — Washingtonian magazine, Feb 1990 “Our nonviolent tactics are not as effective. We ask nicely for years and get nothing. Someone makes a threat, and it works.” — Ingrid Newkirk, in the April 8, 2002 issue of US News & World Report , Apr 2002 “Eating meat is primitive, barbaric, and arrogant.” — Washington City Paper, Dec 1985
  11. Yep, DD's outnumber everything else here too, and the number of Purbred dogs that come in to be groomed is very sadly declining. I am so over be told to do a moodle etc clip, just what is a moodle or schmoodle etc clip, they all look different they all have different coat types. Sadly I can't see that people are catching on at all.

Antifreeze KILLS, the animals die after organ failure. They kill more animals than they protect, why would they set laboratory animals loose to die on the road, or release exhibitors dogs from crates at dog shows? A little research into PETA tactics will shock you.
  13. Very small tablet, should be no problem to dose dog with. Side effects often include increased appetite and increase water consumption.
  14. Ahh thank you For some reason I was under the impression that Pro Heart and Value Heart were chews too. Proheart Plus is a chew, but Proheart is a tab.
  15. Nuheart tabs, Valuheart tabs, Proheart tabs are all monthly tabs that will just do Heartworm prevention. They are tablets not chunky chews.
  16. I found the Snuggle Safe disks that you heat up in the microwave to be very good. No cords or thermostats to worry about. We use them at work also with good results.
  17. Usually if the ear canal is really packed with hair to the stage where it forms disgusting waxy clumps, or even worse greasy clumps if it is yeasty, then yes you would want to remove it so the drops can actually get down there, you would however have noticed if this was the problem. If the hair is not too thick and causing a a problem then leaving it there would be fine.
  18. I don't bother with any of the gimicky, and generally a bit dearer, so called chewables, any tablet given to ours is popped down the throat. Takes no time at all. One of the things I insist on is all the animals being taught to accept dosing with medications, makes it so much easier in time of illness etc.
  19. The actual issue is the price and the quality, but your topic heading is about the newspaper ads. It is this that people are responding to, our bad.
  20. Many GOOD registered breeders actually advertise in the paper and on the internet, regardless of where she searches she needs to do her homework first. Please do not pre judge simply because of where the adds are.
  21. Any new animal coming onto our property from a pound situation is given Capstar before they get to the car. One night in your home with an infestation is enough to allow eggs to be present in your home and yard. I would be using Capstar twice weekly and treating your home. Whilst keeping up with a product that controls the breeding cycle of the Flea. Flea Shampoos have no residual effect on fleas, they will only at best kill what is one the dog at the time, they will not stop reinfestation.
  22. I do think 4000 sounds high and yep I have many years exp as a Vet Nurse. I'll hand you a vomit bag, but 4000 is big bill. Reasonably priced does not always equate to crap care.
  23. I'd fix the gaps if my dogs were at risk.
