  1. That cute little 8 week old bundle of fluff with the resource guarding issue is going to grow into a very large dog in virtually no time at all... either return him to the breeder, or invest in a reputable and thorough trainer to help you rectify the situation. There will not be an overnight fix, nor will it be cheap... T.
  2. Generally, if a dog has been in foster care for any length of time, the carer will know most of that dog's quirks, triggers, etc... and will be in a better position for deciding what sort of home would suit that particular dog. If that does not necessarily gel for the prospective adopter who has never met the dog, and in many cases fallen in love with a well taken photo of said dog, then that is unfortunately just the way it goes... We'd all like to think we have the perfect home to offer any dog, but maybe, just maybe, the foster carer or rescue might just know the dog in question better than we do, and are only looking for the best possible outcome for that dog. There are of course those in rescue who are just downright deluded about what constitutes a "good" home for any dog... but that just goes with the territory... T.
  3. with awful ears .... I was actually fixated on his gorgeous eyes... looking at his human with so much love and trust... who cares what his ears look like when he adores his human so much? T.
  4. I still have the crutches I ended up with after a Labrador game of zoomies... BOTH dogs hit me - after dodging trees and a pole... *sigh* T.
  5. What a gorgeous girl... well done! T.
  6. Congratulations!!! We need pics of this beauty... T.

  8. PM mita... she will know of the best rescues in Brisbane... T.
  9. Me jealous... you has the prettiest puppy! T.
  10. We never did find the other TV remote battery... but I can guarantee it wasn't inside Trouble! What we DID find was a whole lot of gravel moving it's way through her digestive tract... lol! She used to chew up and swallow rocks, OK? Pickles has a fetish for bedding, and the brighter the colour, the yummier it seems to be! Rainbow turds are an everyday occurrence here! T.
  11. Feel free to "steal" any photo you like Powerlegs... here's a link to LOTS of rescue doggie photos I've taken over the years... http://s6.photobucket.com/user/tdierikx/library/?sort=3&page=1 For you, they are completely royalty free, OK? No need to credit or anything... T.
  12. My Lab has been taught to stay on her side of the bed... I don't like them lying on me either... *grin* T.
  13. One could buy a second hand car for the prices some petshops have on their crossbred pups... who has that sort of money for an impulse buy? Dut those same people who do, will question paying $350 for a fully vaccinated, desexed, wormed, and health/temperament checked rescue dog/pup... go figure? T.
  14. My Lab won't eat the veggie ears... neither will Zeddy or Pickles... Harper might, but she won't stay still for a treat... lol! Trouble does a really cool beg... T.
  15. VeboPet... http://www.vebopet.com.au/ T.
  16. Have you seen the mess a large litter of Labrador - or any large breed - pups can make? When I had a Rotti litter (registered/pedigreed), they were inside until 3-4 weeks, then we had to move them outside. From 4-6 weeks of age, we had them set up on a section of the deck, with a covered snuggle box and plenty of running around space. We made a really cool large pen under the house where we could secure them when we were out or at night once they were 6 weeks old. They had all of the creature comforts in there... I might add that we could stand under the house as it was set fairly high. T.
  17. Sounds very much like Lubutu... Lubutu used to run to Lulu after he'd settled a dispute, and she'd give him a cuddle and all would be fine with the world again. After Lulu passed, poor Lubutu now goes to Lisa, who is not quite the same with her support - but she seems to be taking on the role reluctantly... lol! T.
  18. With our chimp group at Taronga, Lubutu is the alpha because he's the most politically correct of the boys... the girls prefer his style of leadership as opposed to the chest thumping and testosterone charged displays of the other boys. Considering that Lubutu also became alpha at 8 years of age, and has held the position for some 14 years, methinks he must be doing something right, yes? Is Tsotsi's style of leadership similar to Lubutu's? He looks more of a gentle soul than one ready to impose himself physically to make a point. T.
  19. I think I'm falling a little bit in love with Tsotsi... he's such a character... T.
  20. He is such a smart boy... and he adores his human! T.
  21. Your dad is a bit of a looker... even at 84! That's a gorgeous photo of him too... T.
  22. Cold water can aggravate reflux... it used to play havoc on mine! Room temp or warmer water is better. T.
