  7. http://www.awesomeocean.com/2015/07/06/peta-spends-thousands-on-virtually-anything-besides-animal-care/ ----------------------------- PETA announced that it was launching a summer publicity stunt road trip that will feature its new virtual reality anti-SeaWorld experience called "I, Orca". Meanwhile, SeaWorld has been responding to and caring for animals suffering from an oil spill in California. Yes, you read that correctly. PETA, the same organization that purports to care for animals that are suffering, has elected to go on a cross country road trip instead of helping the organizations that are on the front lines responding to this environmental crisis. "Probably everything we do is a publicity stunt … we are not here to gather members, to please, to placate, to make friends. We're here to hold the radical line." - Ingrid Newkirk PETA President and Founder USA Today September 3rd, 1991 The publicity stunt-on-wheels kicked off last month and is traveling across the country from Los Angles to Miami. Along the way, they'll be inviting people put on their virtual reality headsets and watch an overdramatized story of life at SeaWorld. While PETA spent thousands developing this virtual reality experience with actress Edie Falco as voice talent , dolphins are washing up dead on the California Coastline with oil tar in their mouths. PETA also announced they would be flying banners above SeaWorld Orlando for the Fourth of July celebration. PETA's priority is publicity, not caring for animals. Meanwhile, animals on the California coastline are getting a second chance at life as SeaWorld's expert animal care team works along side with government agencies, non-profits and universities to quickly respond to animals that are suffering from this spill. It's clear it is SeaWorld who answers the call, not PETA, if there's an animal in need. PETA's just too busy with their road trip to help. -------------------------------- T.
  8. Baiting is lazy... and doesn't work all that well, considering that unintended targets end up getting poisoned as well. It is a relatively slow and extremely painful (read babaric) method of "pest control"... T.
  9. OMG! Are they deadly cute or what?? T.
  10. I'd bark at that too! Naughty roos doing their bitch-slapping dances on the hill... lol! T.
  11. According to one news story, the pup died of pneumonia... and I'd assume that during the 9 days the new owners had it, they must have noticed something wasn't quite right... I think there may be a little more to this story than we are being led to believe. I'm not advocating puppy breeding on a mass scale for the pet shop market, nor am I advocating buying from pet shops... but I'm wondering how a pup dies from pneumonia NINE days after purchase. Surely if medical attention was sought earlier, this would not have had the outcome it did? One of my own dogs managed to develop aspiration pneumonia after inhaling her food - she's a Lab, go figure - and she had an interesting cough develop that I saw a vet for asap... one week of high strength antibiotics later, and she was fine again. A pup with a cough or breathing issues should have been straight to the vet on day one... not later... T.
  12. The build 'em tough out bush... lol! T.
  13. Big hugs to you and Don for enduring that ordeal... and an extra kiss on his snout please! T.
  14. Tell Roo that all his DOL fans are saying what a good boy he is... *grin* T.
  15. Great way to start... and if you are wanting to learn the settings to use in manual modes, you can look at the EXIF data on the photos that you have already taken to get a guideline from them... *grin* If you want to see what my Canon camera gives me in Sports mode - very similar output to the Nikons - check out all these photos of dogs... http://s6.photobucket.com/user/tdierikx/library/?sort=3&page=1 T.
  16. The last place I worked, one woman used to get the sweats on whenever I even mentioned my dogs... she was that deathly scared of them... *sigh* T.
  17. Vom bombs... all part of the joy of raising puppies... lol! On a side note... I used to feed my Rotties Advance... until the bag from hell. They were barfing and squirting all over the place after the second feed from the 20kg bag. Not fed Advance since... Maybe they could try Royal Canin? I used to have great success with Royal Canin with my fosters. T.
  18. But they will be going potty outside by then... lol! T.
  19. Toilet training will probably be the most frustrating part of having pups... but trust me when I say that it WILL click one day in the not too distant future. Focus on all the good things they are learning and doing and don't overthink the toilet training part, OK? Puppies are to be enjoyed fully... they don't stay little and funny cute forever! T.
  20. I can't see past those eyes... he loves his human SO MUCH! T.
  21. Over 7 years of fostering puppies, I found that the boys were faster to learn to not to eliminate in their crates, but took longer to house train... and the girls were the opposite... go figure? Hang in there Sheridan, one day it will just click for both of them, and you'll look back on this thread and wonder what all the fuss was about. T.
  22. DCW are definitely Aussie warranty... and their after sales service is awesome as well. I had an issue with my 100-400mm lens and they handled all of the getting it back to Canon for servicing/repair without any fuss. T.
  23. Yep - wonky dog - that's me... well, that's Pickles anyways. Pickles' issue is mainly mobility wonkiness - she has a scar in her brain that affects the feeling in her legs, and thusly walks like a marionette. Her cognitive function is not affected, but she's a stubborn little bitch at times... lol! Pickles took some time to work out when she needed to wee or poo and that she also needed to go outside to do same. I basically left the back door open at all times, and she followed my older dogs out when they needed to go to the toilet - she worked it out eventually (by about 6 months of age), and now goes outside on her own to go to the toilet, but if the back door is shut, she will still eliminate in the house... *sigh*... she will be 5 in September... The beautiful thing about owning a "special needs" dog is that they really don't know any different - it's all perfectly normal for them... lol! T.
  24. Digital Camera Warehouse will sell the 70D with the Tamron 18-270mm... http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod10254.htm ... just sayin'... And they have a store in Annerly... T.
  25. I'd buy the body and the Tamron 18-270mm or the 16-300mm - forget the kit 18-55mm, as you'll be covering that range with either of the other 2... T.
