Pickles assures me she is no longer sending naughty vibes to Master Roo... *grin* T.
-
I'll have to tell her to stop that, as it's driving poor Aunty Sheridan batty... lol! Uh oh! Pickles wants to have her say now... Hewoo... I is Pickles the Naughty... I hears that little Master Roo is channelling my evil nasties. Master Roo... you needs to be goods for Mummy Sheridan now... plenty times for naughties later OK? T (&P)

It's been an interesting past few days... slowly getting used to the new routines, and I got to mow the lawn today without having to shut Zeddy inside the house... her fave trick was to grab a front wheel of the mower and try to drag it away... lol! It was lovely having a couple of mowing companions... T.

Apart from being a bit unsteady on her feet due to her arthritis, Zeddy was thankfully pretty low maintenance right up to the end... literally sudden onset and that was it. I think I had been mentally preparing for it though for some time... which I also think made the whole thing so much easier to cope with. Enjoy Mac and his funny antics... we'll all miss him when it's his time you know... T.

Awww... Daddy's boy! T.

The more you do something with as little fuss as possible, the easier it gets... they will eventually work out you need to do whatever, and it's over faster if they don't act like idiots... ... unless you are Pickles, then it's just act like a completely spastic idiot, and Mum will give up rather than wring your neck! T.

Separate rooms in this house... just makes it all less stressful... *grin* T.

Thanks all... T.

So he's a retriever too? lol! T.

Kupa is such a doofus! Please give him an extra cuddle from me, OK? T.

Thanks all... westiemum - Zeddy was pretty low maintenance right up until the end... she was fine at 5pm for dinner, but at 11pm she collapsed, couldn't walk properly, and was panting that pain pant... and she was giving me the eyes that say it all. There was no doubt that it was just her time at that point - and the vet agreed that it was time too. T.

Good boy Roo... you'll get the hang of it mate! T.

Thanks Stressy... T.

Thanks all... dinner time was interesting... poor Pickles went looking for Zeddy's spot after dinner to see if she'd left any scraps... Trouble still unsure about change in morning routine. Upside, I got to sleep in today due to not having to let Zeddy out early to go potty. T.

We still have Baylee's bowl in place 18 months after her passing, and Dee eats in her spot next to Baylee's and Zeph in his, as if she was still here. It just seems right that way, and the dogs aren't confused. Just a suggestion My guys get fed in separate rooms... one less door to make sure is closed... *sigh* I'm sure Tess will be showing Zeddy the ropes, and where the best sunny spot for snoozing is... T.

Still wouldn't have changed the last 2 years for anything... Zeddy was a really nice dog all around, and will be missed in all sorts of ways... T.

Thanks all... it hits us all when things like this happen, yes? There but for the grace of God and all that... I must say that it was so much easier on me that I'd had some exposure to the whole process during my rescue years - I know that I can handle what is happening, and even though it's my own dog that I've had for nearly 16 years as a faithful companion, I wasn't a blubbering mess for the poor vet to have to cope with on top of doing the one job they all really don't like. Its kinda strange that she's not here, but also a little bit of a relief that it's all over now... and I'm not waiting for the day to come any more. Those of you with elderly and infirm dogs will know exactly what I'm talking about here... Pickles is enjoying having access to my bed with Trouble when I go out... she used to be Zeddy's companion when I left the house, and they only had the kitchen and back yard access... as I had to keep Trouble and Zeddy separate. Now Pickles has access to the rest of the house, and Trouble has access to the yard also. I'm sure they will both get used to the new routine pretty quickly... *grin* The tears will come at dinner time, when I'm one bowl short... T.

I bet they've all but trashed it by now... lol! T.

Thanks all... it's kinda wierd here this morning, as the usual routine has had to change. Now that I no longer have to keep Trouble and Zeddy separate, Trouble was reluctant to not go into her crate this morning... and she's refusing to share Zeddy's bed in the computer room with Pickles... or more likely Pickles won't let Trouble share it... *sigh* I'm sure they will settle into the new routines soonish. Pickles and Harper appear to be pretty oblivious to the fact we are now a 3 dog household - which is strange because Pickles spent the most time with Zeddy, and apart from not letting Trouble on Zeddy's bed, she's not all that phased at all. Dinner time is going to be interesting... I'll have to change that routine a bit too, as Zeddy used to be fed first. As for me, I'm actually handling it all pretty well... Zeddy was never going to live forever, and I've internally been preparing for this for some time now. I hope I made it easier for the young vet that had to do the deed last night by not being a complete blithering mess... T.

Poor old Woosie is gonna have to share her beddy at the Bridge tonight... she'll see Zeddy right though... T.
-
Thanks all... it's nice to know that others are thinking of us at times like this... Zeddy sprouted wings and flew to the Rainbow Bridge to be with her old mate Woosie at 00:30am... it was just her time... Nearly 16 years of being one of the best dogs anyone could ever have hoped to share their lives with... thank you Zeddy... I love you, you old fart! T.
-
Here I was boasting about how well old Zeddy was going one month shy of her 16th birthday... and now I have to take her to the emergency vet at midnight on a Sunday night because she can't walk and appears to be in quite some pain... I'm afraid she won't be coming home with me later. Please say a prayer or send some loving vibes for my dear old girl to send her off properly... T.

A drop of peppermint oil on their collars before a car ride should slow down the urge to upchuck everywhere... let it dry some before putting the collar on to avoid any skin reaction to the oil though... T.
-
Go Maccles! You hang in there and have the best 16th birthday party ever, OK? T.

Harper was fine getting her nails done as a puppy, but as soon as her adult claws developed, she freaks out at the click noise it makes when they get cut. I've taken 2 years to be able to maybe get 2 nails done at a time now... grr! I'm glad that Pickles' wierd mobility issue means that she drags her paws some and keeps them shortish herself - because no-one can get near her feet at all! T.
