  1. Sounds like Pepper is exercising her mothering skills on the naughty puppy... he will learn some respect for her methinks... Dylan is still young enough to have the "puppy passport", so I'm thinking that he's being allowed to get away with a bit more than your two would normally put up with - he will settle down a bit eventually. T.
  2. Hmmm - mine aren't as smart as I thought they'd be... 1. Treat in bowl covered by a tea towel - Zeddy - 1st attempt: tried to eat the treat through the towel - 2nd attempt: managed to nose under the towel and get the treat - 3rd attempt: pulled the towel off and ate the treat - consistency repeated in 4th and 5th attempts - Trouble - 1st attempt: took off with the towel - 2nd attempt: somehow got the treat without moving the towel?! - 3rd attempt: pulled the towel off and ate the treat - same for 4th and 5th attempts 2. Treat covered by plastic cup - Zeddy - 1st attempt: looked at cup and looked at me - "where's the treat gone" - 2nd attempt: pushed the cup around the floor until it tipped over, then ate treat - 3rd attempt: same as second attempt - repeated on 4th and 5th attempts - Trouble - 1st attempt: grabbed the cup and ran off with it - 2nd attempt: grabbed the cup and then realised there was a treat on the floor - spat out cup and ate treat - 3rd attempt: lifted cup off, ate the treat, then grabbed the cup and ran off with it - did the same on 4th and 5th attempts... grrr! Conclusion: my girls are smart enough to eventually work out how to get food... and Trouble is just a big naughty puppy... lol! Didn't try the tests on my foster puppy - she isn't at all food oriented... Will have to try the blanket test one day in the yard where they can't hurt themselves by bumping into anything - but am expecting better results than the above tests... *grin* T.
  3. I think my Lab would eat the food AND the towel... lol! T.
  4. Arthur is the nicest little man - he'd be fine for a couple in their 60's too... T.
  5. Awesome name choice SC!!! He's definitely a typical Dally pup then... lol! He sounds like he's a real handful, but I reckon you'll have him pretty well trained in no time... T.
  6. I have a foster pup - 9 months old - who would be fine for an older couple who would like an easy maintenance cuddlebum, but will still have enough energy to play with your little boy when he comes to visit... She doesn't look like a wolf - but she IS cute! http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/84918 <---- her name is Zoe We also have a couple of Papillon cross ready for adoption if the longer softer hair appeals... http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/84923 <---- Arthur http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/84924 <----- Martha T.
  7. Considering that the current laws, regulations, acts, subclauses, etc... aren't being enforced regularly, equally, or effectively - why even ask to bring in NEW laws? I do think that raising public awareness of where a good number of puppies in this country come from is a good thing though... My concern is the same as a few others' here... that some of the more radical protesters might be working to a very different agenda to what we really should be trying to achieve. I'm not sure that I could fully support the views of people who think that it's perfectly fine for themselves to break the law by breaking and entering other people's properties and threatening (or even resorting to) physical violence to further their own causes... all in the name of animal welfare... T.
  8. My Lab will go in the water in any weather... try it, your dog will either go and swim, or not... *grin* T.
  9. I reckon "Cricket" is a pretty cool name for a bouncy pup - but will it still suit him when he's a mature adult? "Bandit" could have connotations with the wider public - even though WE all know it's because of his face markings... Then there's the fact that no matter what you name him, any new owner may simply change it to something else that they prefer anyways... T.
  10. I buy 3kg containers of NappiSan... chuck a lid of it in with the wash, and everything comes out nice and clean and smells good too... Do you think that your furkids are picking up on your excitement/nervousness about going on holidays without them? T.
  11. I want a blue brindle harlequin Labrahoover that doesn't shed - oh and it has to have blue eyes... I'm willing to pay top dollar for it - even more if you have a breeding pair... T.
  12. If you are keeping him, then Boof or Doofus would fit just fine... but if you are rehoming him after all his work is done, then I think he needs a somewhat more attractive name, yes? Bandit definitely suits his eye markings... but something traditional and human sounding may appeal to prospective new owners... like William or Harold (Will/Bill or Harry for short) - then there are nice names like Tyler, Caleb, Joshua, Caden, Connor, Taj, Ethan... T.
  13. It's unethical, immoral, and just plain wrong... but it's not illegal... grrr! T.
  14. I like Bandit and Zorro... but I'd probably call him Spud... or Pudding... *giggle* Then again, I named my Labrador "Trouble", and 2 Rottis were named "Blossom" and "Woosie" - so maybe I shouldn't be suggesting names for other people's dogs... hehe! I don't know, but he definitely looks like a "Spud" to me... T.
  15. I reckon Pepper thinks Mummy has bought her a really early Christmas pressie - they look to be having lots of fun! How is Tango coping? T.
  16. Ummm... I hope he's a Dally and not a spotty Dane... errr! He's a handsome lad though... please give him a cuddle from me, OK? T.
  17. I'd be getting an X-ray of the dog's neck/upper spine to rule out anything physical going on there... the not wanting to bend down to eat is possibly a sign of a problem in the neck region. T.
  18. I have a mate who had to have quite a bit of abdominal surgery after having an adverse reaction to Voltaren. My prefs are either Naprosen SR 1000 (24 hr dosage) or Celebrex 200mg (doesn't give me heartburn)... I have a serious back condition that I've just had to learn how to live with - being allergic to most painkillers... grrr! I can take the above if the pain is really nasty, or over the counter Nurofen when it's just niggling... T.
  19. Boot Dupree, and thank Kuma for having the balls to tell the guy what you've been putting off telling him... T.
  20. Now I'm getting all excited - only have about 24 hours to wait for news... *sigh* Don't you forget to take your camera to the park when you do the intros - we want pics! T.
