My 2 girls went for it on Monday night... and they got out of hospital today... they'll be fine - mostly superficial stuff and a few stitches - but they were going to kill each other over a small piece of dry food on the lawn... It's absolutely traumatising when you have your own dogs fighting. Mine are both around 28kgs, so it's impossible for me to do anything more than referee and make sure that if one goes down, I drag the other back - other than that, nothing is going to stop them until they run out of puff... so the 3 policemen who attended my yard on Monday night found out... how embarrassing! Good to hear that your little one is on the mend and feeling happier now... pass him a cuddle from me, OK? T.

Ain't it amazing what love and devotion between dog and owner can achieve? Way to go little man... we are all rooting for ya, mate! T.

OK - my final bill is in... and it's not bad considering... Trouble - Labrador - numerous facial punctures cleaned up and one drain inserted to a wound in the neck, one foot wound stitched and bandaged, 2 nights hospital, pain meds/antibiotics administered, and pain/AB's to take home - $667.05 Zeddy - Rotti cross - numerous leg wounds cleaned and stitched, one broken canine tooth removed, 3 legs bandaged, 2 nights hospital, one bag of fluids on the first night, pain meds/antibiotics administered, and pain/AB's to take home - $693.30 - oh, and they cut her nails for me as a freebie... *grin* Total bill for both = $1360.35 I am now seriously looking into pet insurance - accident cover... these scraps don't happen often, but they sure tend to happen when you don't have the money to spare at the time... grrr! Our last vet visit was 16 months ago - and that was only Zeddy after one of their scraps - and that was $650... T.

Well - my girls that had a barney last night have spent last night at the vets and were in surgery for their wounds today - both seem to have come off relatively well for the scale of nastiness that was going on. Each dog is going to cost me between $600 and $700 - so total bill will be between $1200 and $1400 - when they get to come home tomorrow. Only one dog needed a drain in one of her wounds - but there are stitches and quite a few punctures that have been cleaned up on both of them. I think my vet bill is pretty reasonable... even though I'd rather they hadn't had the fight in the first place... grrr! T.

I know that feeling Casowner... my beloved Rotti girl Woosie has been waiting for me at the Bridge for nearly 6 years now... and I still lose it when I think of her... *sob* I love ALL of my dogs (and even my fosters) dearly - but Woosie was "the one". If I'm ever lucky enough to share that sort of bond with another dog, I'll know that I am truly blessed. It's kind of hard to explain the bond one shares with a heart dog... maybe it's like finding your true doggy soul mate? Something so special that words can't really explain it... and it hurts so bad when it's time for them to take their wings... you lose a chunk of your heart when they pass. T.

Those are definitely pics I'd be proud to have taken - simply amazing action shots! It's great to see healthy and happy dogs having a ball playing in the mud and wet... *grin* T.

I'm expecting a pretty hefty bill from my vet tomorrow after my 2 girls decided to get into it tonight... I'm also expecting to see quite a few drains and shaved areas. Zeddy has also broken a tooth, so that's got to come out also... I'll be pleasantly surprised if my bill comes in under $1000... it was a nasty fight... and my vets don't always charge me full price for work they do on my dogs - infrequent as it is. Was your aunt's dog the aggressor in the fight with this other dog? And what story are the other witnesses telling? T.

If the job was done at an emergency or specialist vet, that would account for the fairly high cost... my girl's surgery for badly ripped and punctured front legs (from a fight with my other girl) plus a dental cost me $650 at my local vet in normal business hours. My other girl had a sinus cyst removed and a drain inserted for just over $400 at the same vet - also during business hours. The wound in your pic looks big, but there may be reasons for it, and the drain is evidence of more damage than would have been obvious to the naked eye prior to surgery. T.

Classic burglary preparation... let the dog out, then come back when it's gone, and no barking to alert to a break in... I'd be getting a padlock for the gate asap. T.

As long as it takes me to get to work, do the day's work, then travel home - on average that is about 11 hours a day, 5 days a week. My rescue foster puppies quickly settle into the routine, and I haven't had any major toilet training dramas with them either. When I get home, there is lots of attention and cuddling for about 5 hours or so, then we are off to bed... When I worked shiftwork, they were alone 13.5 hours a day for 2 days, then the same for 2 nights, then they had my undivided love and attention for 4 days before the shift cycle started again... My permanent furkids - and my foster puppies - are perfectly well adjusted and don't seem to be too bothered by the opportunity to lie around sleeping or playing with their toys while I'm out at work. T.

My parents' friends has a long haired dachshund that would throw a complete tizzy if you put a collar on her - she would tear around the room, then roll on the floor like she was trying to get the collar off, then she would literally throw herself onto the couch and refuse to look at you or move until the collar came off. As soon as the collar was off, she'd be her normal sweet and happy self... My Zeddy will park herself at the end of the couch with her head over the arm and refuse to look at you if she's got the poops over something. T.

Clean the area with warm water and a sponge and let it dry - if there are no marks, you could probably spray the cushions... T.

If he has the squirts tomorrow (or even later tonight), the chili will probably be working it's way out... hopefully the yoghurt will do the trick and take the sting out of that end of things... T.

My two heel beside me - either one on each side, or both on one side - they know that if they don't behave, we go straight back home and no more fun for them. If we go to the off lead park, they are eager to go play or run around like mad things, but they have to heel until we get to a spot that I like, then they sit and wait for me to unclip both leads - then they can run around... oh - and recall is perfect, as they know that if they misbehave on that one, it's back on the lead for the rest of the time at the park. At home, they are allowed much more leeway with doing what they want - but in public they have to behave... T.

PP don't check that the families their pups are going to are going to be able to look after them long term... and you can impulse buy from them... no research or questions asked... T.

We got there later in the day, but I had a great time cuddling any and all dogs that I was given permission to. The Sibe down in the far corner from the main gate was gorgeous (I'm sorry I've forgotten his name - but he was a fawn/white? boy) - he was stunning and seemed to think that I was worth giving the once over and letting me have a good cuddle. The Mastiff boy was divine! I have a rather big sweet spot for the really big cuddly types, and he fit the bill perfectly. Thank you so much to the lovely Staffordshire breeder with the gorgeous sweet and soft white/brindle girl - your time spent talking and letting me cuddle your girl was very much appreciated. Thank you also for looking at the photo of my rescue foster puppy (Staffordshire pup of indetermined breeding) and giving me compliments on him. To the Staffordshire breeder whose girl tried to poke my eye out in her mad dash for a pat and kissfest - don't worry about that, OK? The eye is fine, you girl kissed it better perfectly... *grin* The Cavalier breeder who gave us lots of advice and let us cuddle your lovely girl - you are a star! I also want to thank the Bearded Collie breeder, the Chihuahua breeder, the Deerhound breeder the Cocker breeder, the sweet ladies with the Visla and the Pointer pups, and the Foxhound breeder - your dogs were all fantastic ambassadors for their breeds, and I had a great time meeting them all... Oh - and the lady with the Goldie and 2 divine Rotties - your babies were soooo beautiful! Can anyone tell that I was in heaven for a couple of hours today? hahaha! T.

My Rottie/Pittie girl peaked at 41kg a couple of years ago - and her ideal weight is around 28kg (which is what she is now). My Lab girl is also 28kg. I monitor their feeds and they only get what I feed them - no stuff left where it can be stolen... T.

Nicely said Erny... I think that just about sums up how all of us are feeling about missing Jed's presence around here. Jed - you are one of the few people on this forum that instantly got my respect and admiration - missing ya heaps babe... Our boy had found himself in a rural pound on the outskirts of Sydney, and apart from being somewhat underweight and obviously no obedience training, he's a very sweet boy. Shows no aggression to other dogs, and loves a good cuddle. Apparently he is pure, and we have identification from a breeder who believes they know who his mum and dad are. Unfortunately the litter wasn't registered with the CC, nor were they microchipped before rehoming... grrr! T.

Thanks heaps for the advice RugerRun... I have some very yummy smelling dried lamb liver here that we can use to try to get Rupert's undivided attention... I'll certainly see how he likes it when I'm at the rescue property at the weekend... He really is just a big lovey puppy - totally up for cuddles... *grin* T.
