  1. Ouch!!! I've noticed that PR emails have been coming to my inbox at a rate of knots lately... grrr! And I've not been active there in years... T.
  2. They are both stunning AND smart... will be HUGE assets to the Boss's team! T.
  3. Considering the type of applications and phonecalls we used to get at the rescue I worked at leading up to Christmas... I'd say it was a fairly good idea actually. School holidays were also interesting... amazing how many calls you'd get for a small dog or puppy where they were primarily interested in the 2 week trial period as opposed to the actual animal in question. Basically, some people were looking for something to entertain the kids over the holidays, then returning it when it was no longer needed... *sigh* Phonecalls on Christmas Eve desperate for a pup for the kids on Christmas Day... it's scary! T.
  4. Dags looks so fit and healthy... you guys raise gorgeous pups perse... Watch out Smoke... puppies might try to steal that occypuss! T.
  5. Short answer is probably... yes Maybe you should not take your dog there any more, as it has already shown you what it is capable of with smaller animals. T.
  6. Watch out daddy Pud... those little critters will latch on to daddy "boobies"... and bite if no milk ensues... T.
  7. Your working dogs throw the most stunning pups perse... and the Boss is a huge softie for his mates, isn't he? T.
  8. Nawwww... how precious is he? Glad to see he got better so fast... and he's looking great now. T.
  9. I've fostered more pups than I care to mention, and a large number of them had kennel cough. First thing is don't panic... it sounds really bad, but usually they are actually just fine about it. If pup is lethargic or has yellow/green snot coming from it's nose, then you definitely need to see a vet... but otherwise, you just need to ride out the 2 weeks of it sounding like it's hacking up a lung every now and then. Also be aware that your pup will be contagious for 2 weeks AFTER the coughing stops... it can give kennel cough to other dogs... so keep it home for at least 2 weeks AFTER the cough stops, OK? An otherwise healthy and hearty Labrador pup should not be feeling "unwell" with a dose of kennel cough. Is pup eating and drinking normally? Playing with toys or your kids? If so, then think of pup as a kid with a bad cold and treat the same. Pup will cough more after drinking cool/cold water, as it irritates the throat... room temp water is best, OK? Of 200+ foster puppies, around 75% had kennel cough... and of those, only 2 actually needed antibiotics and monitoring...
  10. I have 3 bitches here of different breeds/mixes... 2 get on fine with each other, but the 3rd one doesn't get on with the other two... deal with any issues as/when/if they arise I say. Just be aware that if 2 bitches do start niggling at each other regularly, the best action is to separate them when they can't be supervised. If they are getting on fine, don't worry about what other people say, OK? T.
  11. Nawww.... poor bubba was tired and wanted a nanna nap... lol! T.
  12. That is truly good news @Thistle the Best Dog... must take such a weight off... Give the crazy beast a get well cuddle from me please... T.
  13. I wouldn't overthink it @Big D... dogs are just wierd and surprise us with all sorts of unfathomable stuff. As long as it's a once off, I wouldn't worry... T.
  14. Vale Leo... So often we suburban pet owners forget that the bond between working dogs and their humans is just as, or even moreso, strong as that we share with our furry companions. Please give my heartfelt condolences to the Boss @persephone... he's a good man, and must feel this loss deeply. T.
  15. If it wasn't digested yet, it comes up as a congealed mess... I wouldn't be too concerned as long as it was a one off, and she's behaving normally now the irritant has been evicted. Obviously the kibble hasn't agreed with her, so maybe avoid feeding it again. T.
  16. They may be allergic to the shampoo in the petbarn self serve washer setup. You can try washing them at home with Aloveen or Malaseb shampoos... both are low allergen, and should help with the itch and underlying cause. T.
  17. A massive care package arrived safe and sound today... and Trubs sends her Aunty @crazydoglady99 huge woo-woos and slobbery kisses. Currently chowing down on 2 small chicken frames and a large handful of yummy treats... *grin* Pickles and Harper have a few treats with their frames as well... and they think it's Christmas... lol! Thank you so much @crazydoglady99!!! T.
  18. I'm going to let Trubs know exactly who her parcel is from @crazydoglady99... as I let her gobble them one by one by 10... lol! Trubs shared some of her last care package with a friend's dog... and now the company has a loyal repeat customer. They have the best service ever, yes? Trubs also sent a couple of each type for my boss's pet fox to try... Luna peed on them... then she ate them. Foxes are weird! Thank you so much for your kindness... it really means a lot to both of us. T.
  19. I'll be more likely to make that final visit before it gets to that stage perse... I'd rather too early than have her suffer in any way... she deserves that much. At the rate it's grown in the past 4 weeks, we only have 2-4 weeks at most now... and I'll call it well before she loses any dignity. T.
  20. At least she's still pretty oblivious to what's actually going on... small mercies... As long as she gets her dinner on time, she's a very happy Lab... lol! We have a really amazing vet... so caring, and a great bedside manner with animals and humans alike. Trubs loves him so much... and she's grabbed his heart too. Should have seen her carry on when she saw him this morning... and he took another dog in before us... she whinged up a storm... *sigh*... the tremelo whine... lol! As soon as her name was called, she shot into the consult room and threw herself at his feet for her checkup... hahahaha! T.
  21. We saw Trubs' boyfriend the vet today... bad news is that we are now into the end straight with this bloody tumour... it has nearly doubled in size in the past 4 weeks. Vet's advice this visit is... "now you can spoil her rotten if you want to"... so she got a nice warm mango/coconut bread with lashings of butter from the local coffee shop... she loves them so much... lol! No more diets for Trubs... which she will be very happy about... *grin* In the past week, she has been gagging more often when lying about, but still has no issues swallowing food. I have noticed that she's chewing her food more before swallowing, so I think she realises that the passage is narrowing some in there. Her colour is mostly good, but is slightly darker than it should be... as her breathing is a bit compromised by the tumour. Overall quality of life is still good for now, so we have the next appointment in 2 weeks time... and if anything changes before then, the vet is immediately available for us. She's giving me plenty of time to be ready for the inevitable... expecially as we didn't expect her to still be here this far down the track when first diagnosed. I'm good with it all... T.
  22. When I am ready to get my Allerzeit puppy... I'm going for a laid back boy... lol! Don't think I could deal with a whirlwind terror... *grin* T.
