  1. I'd leave him with the breeder for a little longer. I'd be worried about the tradies making strange noises and scaring the pup while he is supposed to be settling into a new environment. EDT just noticed you can take him to work with you. In that case, take him with you.
  2. It's a Lab thing, mine stinks. If it rains he smells even worse and he doesn't even have to get wet! In 11 years I've not found a solution. I think people with double coated breeds notice the distinct sent some short coated dogs have even more, simply because our dogs have little to no smell.
  3. Whats the point of a standard then if people just breed whatever the hell they want?
  4. I think you'll also find it's not that the dogs can't work, it's that the owners don't have the time, money, interest or ability to work their dogs. There is no doubt in my mind that my dogs can work, a boy I've bred has been working and doing great, but I don't have the time or money to show and work my dogs. I'll be giving showing a rest so I can title my dogs in other ways but some people aren't interested or able to do that.
  5. I would certainly call them. I just read it all myself and the language is a little murky. I read it as if you want to breed a litter at the time of application for the prefix, you already have the bitch and you want it to be registered, you need to do all the above. I still think you can apply for a prefix without already owning the bitch. As I said, call them and ask directly, it would be the best way to go.
  6. Thats how I read it too. OP have you actually called Dogs Nsw to confirm this rule is what you believe it to be?
  7. That does seem odd. I certainly didn't breed with the bitch I had when I got my prefix and no one has taken it from me
  8. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  9. This is not a baby puppy - I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make Jed. We're not allowed to have older dogs if we work full time as well? I'm not sure of the point being made here either.
  10. Yep, they're horrid things. I was at the vet yesterday with one of the sammys having a seed removed for his ear
  11. I've received papers when I picked up the puppy and other times I've had to wait almost a month to receive them. There can be issues for various reasons but a year is a bit silly IMO.
  12. Poor little mite. Time for a trip to the chiro!
  13. -I'm long coated and require daily grooming and regular maintenance baths -I'm active and require a good deal of exercise both mental and physical or I get destructive and loud -I'm not fond of physical attention. I'd rather just hang out near you -I'm vocal and enjoy a good howl -Summers are hard on me. I'm a creature of winter -I'm very independent, dominant and difficult to train If I do something for you it's because I like you. However I am very loyal to my chosen family -I get along with other animals but please, no cats -I'm generally very friendly but only form a close bond to a small number of people. I'm also more comfortable with the opposite sex -I'm ok with children but my tolerance for them isn't high -I'm known to roam. High fences are required -I adaptable to city or country living but prefer the latter Lol totally a spitz attitude
  14. Some of the best homes my puppies went too worked full time. I worked full time with my first dog and he turned out just fine. I resent being told I'm cruel to my babies. If you don't want to sell to full time working homes that's fine but don't make sweeping statements about those of us who do our best for our puppies and have to work so we can give them the best life possible.
  15. I've had pound dogs in the past and they've had their good and bad points. At this point in my life I'm not interested in anything other then dogs from registered breeders. I'm after something very specific in look and temperament. In fact I only like a very small number of pure bred dogs as well. So it's pedigree or nothing for me.
  16. If you're willing to go with a bigger dog I'd vote for a Bullmastiff
  17. Confused and then moved to slightly stressed/worried
  18. With my puppies I feed adult Pro Plan. I stopped feeding puppy kibble a while ago when I noticed it was growing the big kids too fast.
  19. I'm very sorry to hear that. Poor puppy. Have you actually seen the parents heart tests or has the breedeer just told you they're ok? Personally I'd be wanting to see paper work. As for what to do with pup, well that's harder. How severe is he?
  20. My dogs have never reacted to anything in cemetery's before but then they live in a very strange house so I'm not surprised
