Hi, I run the NSW Samoyed website and haven't received any email about this boy, did you send us an email via the site? If it's not working I'll have a look into it. This is our site: http://www.nswsamoyedclub.com/ The best way to contact the NSW Samoyed Rescue people is to message them via their FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/NSW-Samoyed-Club-Rescue/183854921771676?fref=ts If you can't get through did you want to PM me your details and I can pass them on myself. I'll also alert the rescue people about this post.

Small Breeds That Do Well With Larger Dogs
Bjelkier replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Havanese are fantastic with my samoyeds but if you want one to show that is quite a bit of up keep. Maybe a Papillon, Griffin or Border, Cairn Terrier would suit? -
Should People Who Work 7 Hours A Day 5 Days A Week Buy A Puppy?
Bjelkier replied to Stitch's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with all of this. If I didn't sell most of my last litter to working homes I wouldn't have had anyone to sell pups too and all those dogs turned out just fine. -
Keeping My Future Pugs Mentally Stimulated
Bjelkier replied to Queen Maeby's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I don't have play dates with my dogs and they're just fine, and they're a working breed. I've also never bothered with puppy classes, I think it's a waste of money. I know how to train a dog. Take the pup for walks, train at home or when you're out walking and play a few simple games at home. I really don't think a toy breed would need more than that, my Havanese certainly don't. -

Run free little girl -
That happened here recently and two other breeders I know took the dogs between them and found them suitable homes. I know if that was to happen to me the breeders of my dogs and close friends in the breed would take my dogs

It's entirely possible that he's fine and those symptoms in a 4 month old don't mean a thing IMO. The only way you will know is getting xrays done when he's older and if it tells you what you suspect than you know for certain and can plan accordingly. It could turn out he's totally fine as well. Is he lame or crying out in pain when he gets up or down?
-
Before you get too panicked I'd go into a reputable vet and get hip xrays done and send them off to be scored by an expert. Although I wouldn't bother getting them done at 4 months, the puppy still has a lot of growing to do. What symptoms are you seeing and what breed is the dog?

I call them Germans

I second this. As a samoyed owner I can assure you this happens a fair bit. The erect ears, tail, heavy ruff and upright stance can confuse the hell out of other dogs. That's good to hear from someone who would know! it was what I suspected, that's he's very confused by the different body language/characteristics. As an innately social dog I think(hope) he will improve with more exposure to these breeds. Hopefully he will. We've had good success with a few different breeds who have found the Samoyeds confusing in the beginning after careful socialisation. We say they now speak fluent 'russian'

Keeping My Future Pugs Young And Healthy
Bjelkier replied to Queen Maeby's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have a cat that has been fed nothing but whiskas or another cheaper brand who had four homes before he came to us, he was in terrible shape both mentally and physically and he's now 18 years old and showing no signs of slowing down. Where as we lost a 6 year old cat who was fed premium diet and had lived with us his whole life to cancer. Our Labrador, Lestat is 12 now and he's slowing down. He's going blind and deaf, he has a tumour on his stomach and his hips aren't getting any better. And yet he still gets up easily every day with a smile on his face and wag of his tail. He'd still come hiking with me all day if I allowed him too. He came from a well know puppy farm, he has no hips, a terrible bite and he was fed Supercoat for most of his life. I don't think he's going anywhere any time soon. I think you can try to keep them 'young' as they get on and we do the best we can for our dogs, they want for nothing but in the end when their time is up, it's up and most of it comes down to genetics and luck. -

I'd say about 90% of the breeders I know well are the same.

Now you're just being unpleasent. Some of us don't have the facilities to take dogs. What part of that are you not getting? What would you like someone like myself to do Leema? Take a dog straight from the pound with possible health issues they can pass onto my dogs? Would you like people with less than pack friendly breeds to toss another dog in the mix with the possibility of a lethal fight? Why aren't ypu putting the responsibility on the people breeding these dogs? Why are responsible breeders the target here?
-
I think you will find the nsw samoyed club does a huge amount to help any samoyeds they know about regardless of where they come from and yes, there are breeders involved. I've been asked to take two samoyeds over time (not my breeding) and I've not been able too simply because I don't have quarantine facilities set up and I'll be damned if I'm going to put my own dogs at risk. But that doesn't mean I don't try to help in other ways

Have You Already Picked Out Breed/name For Your Next One?

Oh come on, that's an awesome name! You need to take that one back to the discussion table I think :D -

Makes no difference to me. My next dog will be a samoyed and you don't get much in the wsy of colour choice. I still need to know the dog before I name it -

I usually have a few picked out I like but don't name the pup until I've met it. -
I thought the same as Diva. Only thing that really stood out to me was the rear and from the over head photo it doesn't look like just one foot it turned out but both of them. When you look at him standing from the back are his feet straight?

I agree with this. As much as I LOVE puppies, I couldn't wait for Nala to mature so I could see her movement and structure. I don't mind the full nights sleep now either. I agree with both of you.
-
Couldn't agree more. Poor animal
-
I agree. My Lab would be in serious trouble if he was that thin. He's also a bigger dog with a broad chest. However the trend of fatter show dogs is an issue across many breeds. Don't get me started on the condition of some Samoyeds, fat doesn't equal good substance!

Wear whatever you're more comfortable in and what suits the weather best IMO. Both look lovely.

Tuffy toys are the only ones that have survived my APBT and the destructo Sams
