  1. Three very different breeds you've picked, a gundog, a terrier and a toy. What breed traits are you looking for in a dog exactly? What is important in a future pet for your situation? I would suggest going to a show, speaking to some breeders and narrowing the field. A word of warning, if your asthma is triggered by dog hair I'd be wary of both Goldens and Pugs, both breeds shed a lot!
  2. Every arrangement will be different. I paid the cost of everything and a certain amount per puppy born. The litter was also in their prefix, not my own.
  3. Could Quinn and Riley stay with their breeders until you're able to sort something out? I've taken back dogs at various times when the owners needed me too and all I asked for was food to be sent as well. Maybe their breeders would be willing to do that as well if you have a good relationship with them.
  4. It was a shock to me when my neutered male not only showed interest in my bitch but also managed to tie her. That was a fun afternoon for all involved
  5. My Lab is having a hell of a time with the flies this year, it's never been a problem in all his 13 years of life, they're shocking this year. All I had in the house was that purple spray you use on horses wounds. He now has purple ears and legs but it does work lmao.
  6. I love this breed, they're so striking. There is a guy who lives in Canberra who I see walking his beautiful pair around Civic. Such lovely dogs and so nice to see them out and about.
  7. I agree with this. Both my Samoyeds and Havanese are fed twice a day.
  8. This is hilarious and pretty much what one of our Shar Pei does, brings a teddy/shoe/stick/anything to show you what you cannot have. Unless you just happen have something better like a baby bocconcini, in which case she will look at you pointedly until you say "would you like to swap?" at which point she will spit out her trophy to relieve you of the better prize. Lol yes, we have a bitch that 'swaps' as well. If you tell her the swap isn't good enough she will go away and find somwthing of higher value
  9. I have Samoyeds, they don't give presents, they parade their item around in front of you so you may feel the crushing jealousy that whatever they have is so cool but you, as a lowly mortal may only gaze upon it. Then they run away. However this will change when said item looses it's flavour or is broken. Only then will they deem fit to allow you to touch it, but I suspect it's only so you can either get them another one or fix it......
  10. Sounds like hunger vomits. I've had two bitches that have done this. A little snack just before bed usually holds them over untl breakfast.
  11. My bitch whelped on Sun and she had a temp of 39 for a few days as well. Absolutely no other issues at all, wonderful mother and she's now back down to her usual 38.
  12. I cam do samoyeds for you. Already did it for someone else this year.
  13. Puppies arrived on the 21st. 8 puppies but we lost the last boy The other 7 are fantastic. 3 boys and 4 girls
  14. Thanks WW. Looks like she will go this weekend from the prog levels we got today so that would put at at exactly a week from when she had that first drop. This is good info to have for later litters, we'll be far more relaxed next time.
  15. My partner is fairly relaxed about the dogs, the showing gets to him a little but he knows I enjoy it so wisely keeps his mouth shut. If he complained he wouldn't be around. I refuse to change what I want for someone else. Just like I wouldn't tell him to give up what he loves. Quite frankly the cats cause more issues between us than the dogs ever have.
  16. At this stage it's looking like the date is out by a few days so we're expecting action closer to Sat now. Still her behaviour and sudden temp drops are what has caught our attention as a little strange.
  17. Yes Rebanne, I did. I'm not being lax with this and we're doing daily prog tests at this stage on the advice on my very experienced breeder vet. As it is today she is at level 26 and the puppies heart rates are totally normal.
  18. Hi guys, looking for a little info here while I'm waiting for the vet to get back to me. I have a bitch due to whelp today, we had three matings and so far the pregnancy has been totally text book until this last week. On Sat she had an obvious temp drop from 37.9 to 36.9, she became restless and started nesting her whelping box. We waited thinking this was it and then nothing. Took her into the vet on Monday and got an ultrasound and prog test done. Everything looked fine and my vet said she had at least another 36 hours to go. We continued taking her temp, which stayed steady until yesterday morning when it dropped again from 37.9 to 37.0, she also lost her mucous plug and began heavy panting and restlessness last night. She was very uncomfortable and this time we thought for sure she's ready to go and once again she's stopped everything this morning. We're debating booking her in for a c section tomorrow as her grandmother didn't go into labour with her largest litter either and my little girl has at least 7 possibly 9 puppies on board. Thanks in advance
  19. My guys go crazy for fruit. In fact they are currently doing their very best to pick all the apples of our huge apple tree at the moment, cheeky buggers. Watermelon, Apple and Pear are all favourites. Dante is a huge fan on oranges and lemons but he's a weird dude.
  20. I wouldn't be putting a dog on hormones simply for coat growth. Instead try supplements like Royal jelly shampoo and tablets, Canine Show Stopper and there is a horse product, a shampoo that people swear by but I can't for the life of me remember the name right now.
  21. Had the xray today and saw at least 7 little ones with the possibility of 8. My poor girl is huge.
  22. Oh good lord, this is my greatest nightmare and exactly why I won't send my Samoyeds to anyone else. Hard to say if they have done permanent damage, some coats grow back just fine and others don't (some groomers will tell you differently but I've seen it myself and I know this is true), you'll just have to wait and see. What I do suggest is that you keep him out of the summer sun until the coat grows back as his skin will be very sensitive now it's exposed and will burn if you're not careful.
  23. This is very true. My current pack are doing great on RC but my first Samoyed was super itchy on it. I ended up changing him to Nutro Lamb and he was much happier.
