  1. LuvLottie that's such a great shot - I really like it. Kirislin - I like the expression on his face like - oh, you can see me! ;) Feeling a bit uninspired today so just snapped a photo of what I made for dessert tonight...it's a pity I mangled it a bit getting it out of the container/mold thingy but nevermind. Day 9
  2. I really love all the horsey photos...really nice captures. :D I decided it was time to get the macro lens out and found this kinda pretty little weed in the front yard. Day 8
  3. So many great photos....it's great how many people are participating this month! Friday at last...time to put my feet up. (I apologise for stealing inspiration from previous DOLers foot self portraits. ) Day 7
  4. It was pretty hot here today so this colour icecream caught my eye.... Day 6
  5. So many beautiful photos...I just have to try to comment on a few. LuvLottie – love your day 5 pic – such vibrant colours and such a cute cat! I will admit I am a sucker for cat and kitten photos. Zenith - that swallow photo is so artistic – I would hang that on my wall! Terranik – beautiful ripples…I love your self portraits. I know it’s your foot but it nearly looks like a hand of god painting or something…anyways, I like it. Kirislin – awesome panning shot – she looks stunning for 12 and her head is so beautifully in focus! MavericksMission – love the huge bubble! And the one bursting underneath…the contemplative cat is just too cute. Dust Angel - that photo made me laugh. It’s the exact same look I get from Luka…I must try and capture that sometime this month. whiskedaway – nice shots, I particularly like Bear in the flower pot. I really like the colours in that one too. CrazyCresties - beautiful macro shot…I’d love to get a shot like that but I’m too wussy to get that close. :D Bellatrix – I just want to tickle all those beautiful little whiskers…so very very pretty… fattima – lol excellent headshake capture. Looks like he/she is about to morph into something else. I feel very lazy compared to everyone else with their gorgeous photos cos this is just a snap I took on my iphone from the window at work…a very subtle sign that the tour downunder is just around the corner. Day 5
  6. Wow this thread is cracking along - I'm really enjoying everyone's photos. The little white kitten was a stand out for me today. First day back at work for me today after the Christmas break and I spent most of the day staring at the clock waiting for 5 o'clock... Day 4
  7. Love the droplets shot and the pretty orange flowers. Just a happy snap of my OH and the dogs on our walk by the river this morning for Day 3.
  8. So many great photos... I love evolving's fantastic action shot, lic's pretty dragonfly and I love the colours in LuvLottie's seesaw shot...also love the little whiskery nose sneaking in on the side, so cute! Day 2
  9. I really enjoyed doing this last year so I'm going to try again this year. Day 1.
  10. I have an aussie dog disc (LINK) that I won in a lucky dip thing at the Dogs SA open day a couple of years ago! Best $2 I ever spent! It's the soft rubber blue one and we play with it in the backyard and it flies very nicely and Luka really loves it.
  11. Apart from the 'doesn't excessively moult' bit the rest pretty much exactly describes my collies! I guess it depends on what they class 'excessive' moulting. To me they don't shed a lot but I suspect I may just be immune from having two collies and two ragdoll cats...there's definitely a lot of fluffiness in this house! There's always smooth collies though...although I get the impression they have a bit more energy in general than the rough collies, well certainly more than my rough collies anyway! I take my two for a brisk half hour to an hour walk every day after work and with an little training session and tug playing during the evening they are both very happy with that....oh and they both looooove playing fetch and are very eager to please and people oriented. If they are in SA and are interested in collies (depending on where they are) they could meet my two fluffballs if they wanted to?
  12. Oh no! Poor Hudson! Hope he is all better and home from the vets soon. Sending lots of healing thoughts and vibes for Hudson and hugs for you.
  13. Lovely photos! I love the photos of Esky - she is a really stunning husky, such a pretty pretty girl... We all had a great time too...I apologise to everyone for my big mouth Luka barking the whole afternoon! :D We're working on the barking thing I promise - but it's a bit of a slow process with him. He loves the sound of his own voice. Right now he's asleep next to me and wuffling in his dreams....even asleep he's still barking!
  14. WOW! Awesome photo....that is just stunning!
  15. Oh your dogs are so gorgeous....Nandi is such a beautifl puppy! I think I'm in love Great photos too! Ringo's a cutie too - I really love his flopped over ears! Very very cute...
  16. You could try the Holdfast Dog Centre (link). I didn't take Luka to this puppy pre-school so don't have first hand experience with their puppy classes but I did do the basic obedience class and found it to be really good. I did try the obedience classes at Dover (again not the puppy school so not sure about what they are like) but I personally didn't like them. I thought they seemed more obedience trialling oriented while Holdfast was much more 'pet dog manners' training oriented which suited me and Luka much better. Hope that helps.
  17. I hadn't seen the Elbie thread, thanks for posting the link. I particularly love the commando crawl one...he'd be a good candidate for agility I reckon! I love how many photos and videos you have of him. Not an easy task I'm sure since he looks like he is just always on the go! I'm surprised your photos aren't just of a black and white blur in front of the camera! They grow up so fast you'll be looking back in a few months wondering if he was ever really that small. I bet he is exhausting too - I always say that I think puppies are proportionally cute to how much trouble they cause! So Elbie must be a terror! Glad you liked the photo of Luka...he is a big beautiful boy now. Sometimes I wonder where my little baby fuzzball puppy went! He used to look like this I'll try and take some more pics of Luka and his other toys...like most dogs whose owners are on DOL he has waaaaay too many! Maybe not quite as many as fbaudry's lucky doggies though! ;)
  18. I bought one for my dad's dog last winter...I think the brand was choozy....looks just like the klam one that someone posted earlier...I'm not sure if they have a website they are based somewhere here in SA but I did email them asking them for stockists on [email protected].
  19. Just had to pop in and say Elbie is such a cutie! I love all your little videos of him they're soo cute! I bought a couple of the nina ottosson toys from wagsalot online store and my 18 month old collie looooooooves them! I bought the 'brick' and the 'tornado'. They are really well made and if you can afford it I think they would be perfect for Elbie...supervised play only though of course otherwise he'll probably just chew them up and they're not that tough! But I think they are really great...I bought them for Luka cos he's been recovering from a knee op and I needed to keep him contained and quiet for the past 5 weeks and these puzzle toys have just been fantastic for keeping his mind busy but his body relatively still. Here's a little pic of Luka playing with the brick puzzle toy...
  20. oh dear....nothing helpful to add but just wanted to send get well wishes to little Banshee. Hope it all sorts itself out simply for her sake and yours!
  21. I've never bought them myself but I'm pretty sure I've seen them at Goble and Son on Richmond Road Marleston...they're a grain and produce store but sell a lot of different pet stuff as well. I'm pretty sure they sell the boxes of 4x2 biscuits and I think they sell them in smaller bags as well.
  22. You are more than welcome Jo - it's such a great thing you're doing I am only too glad glad to help in whatever little way I can. Oh and I meant to apologise in advance for the dog/cat hair on the clothes...they're all clean but when I was sorting them I'm sure some hair managed to magically attach itself to some of them. And I'll hopefully have another delivery of those little rope toys for you next weekend...I realised when i got home that I completely forgot to buy some lamb neck bones from you when I was up there so I'm hoping I'll get a chance to pop up again next weekend. Give all your little cresties a big cuddle and kiss from me.
  23. I bought chicken mince from lenards here in SA once and it was mixed through with very yuck looking bits of rice and the odd pea and corn kernel so I wasn't terribly impressed since all I wanted was the mince itself. My local lenards hardly ever seems to have chicken frames or if they do they are really expensive (over $2 a kilo)... so now I buy my chicken frames from my local asian grocery who sells them for .70c a kilo and I can buy a box (10-12kg) for $7!
  24. Well not sure about the 'absolute best' cos they are the only one I have used for an orthopedic surgery! but I was very impressed by the Adelaide Animal Hospital (www.adelaidevet.com.au). Luka had to have a knee operation (he tore a ligament which caused a luxating patella in his right leg) just a few weeks ago and I was very impressed by everything about their practice - the practice owner Dr Warren Foreman performed Luka's surgery and he kept me well updated on his surgery and post op care (he was kept overnight on pain meds). I feel that they took excellent care of him and I felt very comfortable with them and their facilities. We also had two free follow up consults and they phoned me a few days after surgery to see if I had any questions which I thought was nice. The vet nurses there are all lovely and made a big fuss of Luka (who is embarrassingly wussy when we go to the vet!)... If you want to know anything else about my experience with them feel free to ask.
  25. Oh that's such a sweet thing to do Jo. I'm sure I've got some stuff that could be turned into dog clothes. I will have a look and I'll bring whatever I find up when I come to the shop next weekend. :p
