excellent. Your chance to bring all your concerns to the forefront and be heard.

It's interesting how she's transferred tbe blame to you. As far as she is concerned, It's all YOUR fault.

these are very pretty photos. You're off to a great start, you certainly have the eye.

I wonder if they have cleft palates too.

How are Maddie and Stan.....and you! Any updates, has the woman taken any responsibility yet and ensured her dogs cannot escape?
-
Looks pretty weird. I've never seen it before, I suppose I'd get used to it. I'm assuming it doesn't have any health issues with it.

wonderful scenery, that would be my style of wedding. Loved the thongs.

what a journey! Are you there yet? I looked it up, 3803ks. I hope your new life in Kal works out well for you both and is all you've hoped for and more.

With all the trouble & rules & regulations & restrictions we have here I can't understand why anyone would want to import, breed, show or sell dogs as described above. Actually I can't even understand why anyone would want to own a dog like this either but each to their own. Azawakh's are gentle and sociable with their own family but are largely disinterested in strangers and have a protective instinct absent in most (not all) sighthounds. This does not make them "dangerous" any more than a well bred Dobermann or other guarding breed is "dangerous". I agree with this description from what I saw of them. Like most large sighthounds they have large litters. I could imagine if I ever dedided to pull up stakes and took to the road with my all my worldly goods in a pack saddle, this would be the perfect dog to have trotting by my side. It would catch me dinner and protect me and my possessions.

Only 9 in the country the lady who imported them tells me. Unusual dogs, very primitive, not sociable at all, and not bred to be. Very wary of people. I think she'd have to be careful who she sells them to. This one meets Arkey, an Italian Greyhound who must have looked enough like a sighthound to be acceptable to it. roo roo roo!

His collar's on upside down. (insert mr rolly eyes here) and in the first pic she's out on the street by the looks of things with no collar or harness on at all! Juice I agree with your comment completely.

is it on pay TV. I haven't seen it. Mr Figaro looks like his mummy needs to take him to the manicurist.

I think they can be misused.

I've got a crate set up in the lounge room that some of the dogs go into of their own choice to snooze in. I use it for Neko the puppy if I have to go out for an hour or so and cannot take her. I think the longest she's been locked in there while I was out was 2 hrs. Recently she went to the chiro and was crated for the rest of the day once we got home, apart from toilet breaks. She's pretty good and just rests or sleeps. She is also crated at shows.

Canberra Sled Dog Club - Beginners Day

But you'd probably win if you survived! I agree. Before I even knew this sport existed I used to daydream about having a team of whippets pulling me along the main road into town. I used to imagine all the cars running off the road as the drivers watched in amazement. -
For a little car that easily fitted 5 whippets in the back when the seats were folded down the older model Mazda 2 (mine was a 2004) is excellent. The other good thing about it was when the seats were down they laid flat, not sloping like some. I love my Forester now but I still am a bit precious about the interior.

do you know if the owner has made the property more secure yet?

I gave her cooked rice with some mashed veggies from my dinner and a tin of sardines tonight. She liked it and all the other dogs wanted what she was eating. I just hope she doesn't get the runs toninght from it.

Yep, I went through this with Kibah and now Penny. Sometimes they're sound asleep and just dont hear the happy ruckus the others make. The vet visit brought no joy. I mentioned the 2 drugs I've heard about on forums, Vivitonin and Cholodin. He doesn't know the 2nd one but wasn't keen on trying Vivitonin on her because he thinks she's probably got heart disease. He could hear a murmur and I've noticed her heart is beating fast all the time lately. He suggested some commercial dietary products but I'm not keen so I'll just try to increase her carbs and also make her food more of a slurry so she can lap it up. He said she's a carbon copy of his own old dog right now and I asked what he's doing for her, he said Meloxicam and understanding, which is what Penny's getting too. So that's it. He said he's available anytime day or night which was kind of him to remind me.

She gave me a fright a couple of hours ago, I turned around and she was on the chair and I couldn't see her breathing. I touched her paw and it was cool, I thought she'd died. Then she opened her eyes. I'm not expecting any miracles today but we're going to the vet this afternoon just to see if there's anything that might help her for a while. At least I'll know I've looked at all avenues. I feel she wont be around for much longer though. She still wanted to go for a walk at the park and happily tottered along sniffing where all the dogs had been, catching up with the goings on.

Neighbours Large Dog Can Get Into My Yard If It Wants

err no. It might be fully trained when it's being given direction, but unsupervised? uh uh. -

Maybe you can just buy some pre fab trellis, the criss cross ones that can be bent on an angle so it can go up the slope. You'd need to sink some supports so it's sturdy though. good luck, I wouldn't risk that dog coming into my yard. Perhaps the new people will help you if you ask them nicely, since it's their dog who's doing the exploring. -

that's a strange type of boundary fence. It looks like anyone or anything can just walk along and come into your yard. I think I'd be putting up an extra barrier across there. -
Remind Me, What To Do If An Aggressive Dog Rushes Me
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
I didn't say hands I said arms. To protect your face etc and so if the dog bites/lunges up it will be less likely (hopefully) to get more vulnerable parts. Better they bite your arm than your face. The scenario which the OP played out later in the thread though was different from the one I had been envisaging though and as shown here how you react can be different in different situations. I would perhaps react differently to an unsupervised strange dog stalking me when on my own to other scenarios. Yeah it wasn't what I'd been expecting either. I'd been told he rushes at visitors growling, but he didn't do that to me at all.
