  1. If you can get it, "the book of the bitch" is an excellent book for first time breeders. It's very exciting isn't it. I kept a diary of everything that happened to Kibah, the first dog I bred from. I also have a stethascope and used to listen to the heartbeats once they were big enough.
  2. threads like this are supposed to be in the cruelty and abuse section.
  3. Perhaps you could walk other peoples dogs. then you can have some doggy interaction.
  4. good boy Gussy!! although I dont like the idea of them getting an IG, they are definitely high maintenance, especially when young. I'm not sure about pugs.
  5. Although I've never owned one it doesn't sound ideal. Sometimes the time and situation just isn't right. I wanted a dog from the time I left home, but I didn't get one for about 10 years. I had to wait until my living arrangements and finances were right. I think you'd need to be able to let it into a safe backyard when you weren't there. One that was big enough for it to keep itself entertained on its own otherwise it's going to start barking, escaping, destroying, or all 3.
  6. that's what I thought, someone needs to tell the Staffordshire Bull Terrier club of Vic that then because they have classes for best black, red, brindle, white, pied and blue.
  7. I thought there wasn't a true black in Staffordshire bull terriers. I thought they were all really brindle, just some more heavily brindled than others. I think there are solid fawns reds but I thought blacks and blues were all brindles. Am I wrong? I dont profess to be an expert.
  8. great photos watching him grow. I hope Esky didn't kill any kangaroos. Looks like you've got some fencing to do. Fritz is growing into a powerful dog, you'd better hold tight when you start racing him or you'll be tipped off the back!
  9. The crazy little thing did it again this evening but this time I was ready with my camera so you can see I wasn't making it up. Not very good pics but you get the idea. IMG_9348dpp IMG_9349dpp
  10. I'll 2nd this wish for you Stan. Happy Birthday.
  11. you need to get the URL code. it's the one with the pin icon.
  12. Yep whippets do it too. Perse it's short for cockroaching, as in a dead cockroach
  13. ah thanks, that's why I couldn't find him. I was so sure it was Hayward I didn't look any further.
  14. Has anyone got Barry Haywards contact details. I cant seem to find him
  15. The first chill of Winter. Poor Neko doesn't know what she's in for. It gets very cold in this house during Winter. She's wearing a tiger print blankie with matching whippet in the background.
  16. Nothing! and I'm a bit disappointed. My very first sighthound who I believe was a whippet/IG cross never figured out that the dog in the mirror was her. She used to tip toe into a bedroom that had a waist high mirror that she could only see if she stood on her hing legs. Of course everytime she took a peek that damn dog was there and she'd bark and bark at it.
  17. that's how I read it. It's completely anonymous.
  18. Neko just did the oddest and funniest thing. I have a photo of puppy Widge (Nekos Mum) on the wall behind a chair in the computer room. Neko just jumped up on the chair and then stood up on her hind legs facing the back of the chair looking directly at the photo and started her 2 pawed shove on the chair, as if inviting puppy Widge to play with her! I wish I could have got a video of it. Just as they've recognised the photo of Zoey on my camera bag, I'm sure she knew it was a puppy in the photo.
  19. yep.... http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/230089-how-have-your-dogs-embarrassed-you/page__st__45__p__5602610__hl__%2Bembarrassing+%2Bthings__fromsearch__1#entry5602610 that thread's too old to resurrect Rozzie.
  20. I didn't read this as breeder bashing, just a query. Fair enough to ask. I dont think the breeder should be held responsible based on the information given, but that's just my opinion.
  21. You've brought back a funny memory for me. About 25 years ago I used to know a woman who lived across the road from some people who had a pet greyhound. Back then this was quite unusual. My dopey friend was terrified of the dog because she beleived that since the dog had raced, it must have been blooded and she reckoned that they can smell a woman menstruating from a long way off and will run her down and attack her crotch.
  22. What a wonderful outcome, you've done a great kindness to the lady and her dog, and so have everyone else involved.
  23. as a kid I had a dog who would roll in petrol or oil leaked on the roads. Once I was crossing a busy intersection and he started rolling while all the cars were banked up at the red lights, then the lights turned green but he hadn't finished his performance. I was screaming at him to get up but he took his time. Luckily for him and me, the drivers waited, but they weren't happy.
  24. that part sounds exactly like my whippet Penny.
