  1. that little monkey thing is pulling the same face as me right now. I would love it but even 2nd hand it's more than I can afford to be spending right now. My mare being sick so much last year really drained my very limited resources, plus photography doesn't pay for me at all, so it's purely a hobby. Very hard to justify.
  2. a bit lateral, I wonder if you could get a snake person to give you some skins their snakes have shed and place them all around the place. The smell might frighten the rats.
  3. I think some whippets could be keen, they're not yappy but they wouldn't like to sleep outside. I've stressed some whippets. At least 2 of mine would be psycho killers, but the others might just go ewwwww! I'm not biting that thing!
  4. thanks a bloody lot! You're the first person I thought of, and that was the first photo I thought of, just what I'd be better off not seeing right now. Are you seeing those prices from retail stores or grey market?
  5. the first breed I thought of is a Jack Russell. Great little dogs and I would imagine fierce ratters.
  6. There's a few people here with this lens. I've heard about one going privately and am sorely tempted. Anyone know what a fair price would be for one in good condition?
  7. 5/52 The mad house that is my house. The termites are swarming and they're all in my house so I invited Blondie in to clean them up. I think they're coming in from outside, I sure hope so.
  8. thankyou both, yes she's a sweetheart, very clever, very soft and gentle although can still fire up on occasion. She was a keen racer and would have been a fierce hunter if she'd ever really had the chance. She was incredibly agile as a youngster too, could turn on a sixpence, she would have given those bunnies a run for their money.
  9. that's good news so far then. Have your other dogs been vaccinated. If not, is it dangerous to vaccinate now if they've been exposed to the virus, if it isn't I'd be getting them done if they were mine. I've heard there's not much that can be done once they've contracted it other than supporting them with fluids, which is what's being done now. I hope he's strong enough to make it through. If well wishes could save him he'd be skating through now easy peasy, there's lots barracking for the little guy.
  10. thanks for this. Neko is all better now although I wonder if this psycho attack was from the effects of whatever stung her. I doubt it, she's like this all the time.
  11. Thankyou for this thread. I have to admit, I've avoided it because the thought of losing my beloved whippets looms large now and it makes me sad. It's prompted me to take some photos of Penny though. She is such a beautiful whippet who was very fit and healthy until about 12 years old, then started aging fast. Now she's about to turn 15 in May and is frail and tired, although she still chases that cheeky puppy Neko around when the mood strikes her.
  12. I'm awake. Just had my first for the day.
  13. keep fighting little Astro. where do you buy F10? I hope I never need it.
  14. thanks girls. I wasn't fishing for compliments but they're much appreciated. Photography is still a hobby for me. I see others who started at roughly the same time as I did and have moved on to become professional, Ruthless, Becandcharch, Serena and Huga are good examples and so I ask myself sometimes why haven't I. It's just not in me. Oh and Grumpette, I love your watermelon shot. I love seeing dogs eating fruit and veggies.
  15. what an awful snowball effect that dick next door has caused.
  16. Oh no! It was a terrible oversight. I hope you dont beat yourself up about this. Working at a vet clinic you never would have deliberately not bothered to have it done. I really hope he can pull through, he must be so tiny. I think my puppy is small but she's almost twice his size. You've got onto it quickly and he is being supported by fluids. I really hope he can pull through for you.
  17. I dont miss the attacks that used to occur, it's alot milder now.
  18. Wishing him all the best that he pulls through with your prompt care. Can I ask how old he is and when he was last vaccinated. I've heard of vaccinated dogs contracting parvo before and it frightens me. To think that heartless man next door let his puppy die a slow death without any veterinary support makes me sick.
  19. they are always spontaneous. I rarely plan a shot, I'm very much a happy snapper with a brilliant camera, but at least I realise my limitations. I'm forever getting people asking me to take photos for them because they think I'm a photographer, and I always refuse. you do though have a great eye for knowing a great moment to take some pics. thanks! I know I dont have a natural talent, like say, Huga, but I have fun with it.
  20. How worrying. There's all these weird diseases now, I've never heard of something like this happening, dogs used to be so hardy, as a kid we'd vaccinate against distemper and tetanus and I think that was it. I hope they can work out what he's got and get him well again.
