That bit surprises me, I thought if white was overexposed it would be too too white and bright. I was using partial metering, but the good thing is, I can go back anytime I want to have another go. It can be hard there because there's people everywhere and I was restricted a bit with that trying to keep people out of the shots, plus the sun was glaring. I might post the last one with less editing, I'd actually put it through the HDR program, (even though I only had the one image you can still alter it in HDR) I like the effect I got with it, but I'll post a more accurate image of what I actually got so you can see. thanks girls. :D

thanks Persephone. :) I liked that one too.

Perhaps if she was confined to her owners property she wouldn't be bringing home other peoples bread.

I love the way he lets Lola be the boss even though he could probably flatten her.

This is my biggest problem too when it comes to photographing my own whippets.

another one in Dulwich SA? at least it's desexed.

I think the best shots I took were in manual but last Sunday I was trying Shutter speed priority and Auto ISO. Those ones you posted looked pretty sharp to me.
-
You should be OK then, you've bought a few books on it haven't you? I didn't do that, I've only read the manual and threads on POTN. You'll always be able to compare and ask what others here have done too.

I'm sure I've improved with practice but it's got alot to do with the settings you have on the camera as well as just pushing the button at the right time. there are probably hundreds of variations you can have on the 7D, be in for a shock, it's not just a matter of charging the battery and turning it on. If you dont have if configured to the conditions and the effect you want, you might be disappointed. That's the part I've found hard, there's so many factors. Even if I do have it all correct I still might miss a shot, and I wont always know if it's cause I've got something set up wrong or if it was just bad luck. But when it all falls into place, it's magic.

We're having a whippet beach day this Sunday and I think I might try it there. I expect it to be bloody fffffffreezing!

I bought the Sigma 17-70 but I didn't realise the Canon program wont recognise it so I can't correct lens distortion in DPP. I also didn't realise it wont go on a full frame camera. I already have a Canon lens with similar range although it doesn't go down to 2.8 but I was a bit silly, didn't research enough before pushing that buy now button.

Thankyou all for your comments. :D I do appreciate them.

you need to come to the whippet races, you will get plenty of chances there. shutter speed 1/250th trying out my new Sigma lens You cant pan much slower than that if you want to see any detail on a whippet. Harder than taking race car or bike shots because they are rigid, these little dogs flex every which way. IMG_1587dpptc by kirislin, on Flickr IMG_1588dpptc by kirislin, on Flickr

Great photos and really nice to see you posting back here again :) -
I've been looking at Crumpler bags on Adorama and the price varies even for the same model bag, I'm confused. the 6 million dollar ranges from $115-140 and there's an 8 million dollar bag for $99.95. Does anyone know why there's such a variation for the same bag?

all I did with my camera strap was to get one of those fluffy things you put on your seatbelt, they attach with velcro so I put it on my camera strap. I'm thinking about hand stitching some kangaroo hide on it though, that would probably be comfy too, certainly better than the sand paper like stuff they use. What were they thinking?
-
If it's not stitched all round you might be able to cut it shorter yourself, but you would ruin it if it has stitching, if it has you'd probably be best to take it to a saddler. how about posting a photo of it.

do you choose your combinations from the etsy site, or somewhere else?
