  1.  thankyou, it's become my passion. that is just about my favourite photo I think. This was shot with a Canon 7D but I am sure the Nikon could do just as well though.
  2. sometimes dull days are good, no harsh shadows to worry about. This was shot on a dull day with a very fast shutter speed. Untitled by kirislin, on Flickr
  3. thankyou both :D woo hoo I have 5 likes
  4. thanks for looking, you're welcome to "like" the page and/or individual photos. I've still got lots more albums to add.
  5. I went to the whippet races at Tooradin yesterday. Oh how I wish I still had whippets young enough to race. I sure wish I had a camera back when I was racing my girls. Anyway, I've started a new facebook page to put my doggy action type photos on. Not much on there as yet but have a look to see yesterdays. I'm still editing and adding to it. They look best when viewed full screen. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.445566462144817.107829.445251875509609&type=1
  6. was your camera set on one shot, AIFocus or AIServo?
  7. I'd say shutter speed too slow cause it's darker. Was it just in auto mode? You can still get good sharp clear shots on dull days but you'll need to get brave and get out of auto  You need to increase your ISO, open your lens up wide, and increase your shutter speed. Start reading that manual, go on, off you go.
  8. It might be worth re visiting Alicias challenges. She used to set them so that you would learn more about your camera and techniques. They are just as relevant now as they were then. You could even just cut and paste her original comment to a fresh thread.
  9. It's very strange, it's back to normal now but it had that strange photo that I mentioned for a few minutes, something about the atomic symbol for cookie, what ever that means.
  10. that's not my photo. Usually at the bottom of my posts there are 3 photos from my redbubble account, but now one of them say "mm the atomic symbol for cookie" that most definitely is NOT one of my photos? Has it happened to anyone else? Huh? now it's gone, I'm very confused. I wonder if my account's been hacked
  11. Whoa! check out those scary foreboding skies!!!!
  12. My heart breaks for that little girl and her family.
  13. for a long time I think becandcharch only had the 50mm and she took amazing photos with it. I know it's limiting you, but it might also make you really think about the photos you take.
  14. me too I think! I don't have that "mine's better than yours" attitude, it just happened that I went with Canon at the start and sort of commited myself to them then.
  15. You'll have to get out there and get some action shots, that's what it excels at
  16. and look what is part of it!!!! The Victoria Police Horse Stables!!!!! http://www.vicpolicenews.com.au/more-news/10034-victoria-police-mounted-branch-opens-its-stables.html
  17. these might be helpful, there's lots of them. http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/galleries/galleries/tutorials/eos_7d_tutorials.shtml
  18. Not really, I just tried pushing it with the camera turned off, and it feels like there's a bit of spring in there, but when it's turned on if you push it, it takes the photo. I dont keep pushing down after it's taken the shot.
  19. do I need to buy a special kind of cd. aren't some ones that you can add to and others once you've put something on, you cant delete it or add to it. Sorry I just dont "get" this stuff.
  20. If I want to give someone some photos so they can take the disc to harvey norman, or where ever they want, to print them, what kind of disc do I get? And once the photo is on it, can they crop it the way they want as well?
  21. I thought she was the staffy upside down on the couch. I can really envisage a piched nerve happening in the dog in the photo. Yes, I think it is the staffy but greyhound vets (in my opinion) are much better at diagnosing soft tissue injuries and/or even chiropractic type problems. Ordinary vets dont seem to have the touch, or if it doesn't show up on an xray they're often at a loss.
  22. I wonder if you could get her to a greyhound vet. They might refuse to see her though, I'm not sure, the other thing you could try is a chiropractor, but one who is an expert in greyhounds. If there's something out on her somewhere, they'll probably find it. Good luck, it's awful when you know for sure something is wrong, you just dont know where.
  23. I am sorry you are in this situation and that you are feeling so desperate when time is probably running out. All I can suggest is that rather than letting her go in the vet surgery, take her out to your car, sit with her there and say your goodbyes. That is what I did with my dear little whippet Iris. She loved the car, it was like home to her.
  24. From last Saturdays fun run. 5F6A1241dpp1sct by kirislin, on Flickr in this shot, I kinda wish the camera switched focus to the closer dog, but it did as I'd programmed it and held focus on the original dog. 5F6A1242dpp1sct by kirislin, on Flickr
