Yep, it's worth it to me, doesn't cost much.
-
and I'm out there on my own using DPP

It alwasys amazes me that some greyhound people really have no idea how to raise a healthy puppy that they hope will some day be a top athlete. I hope Bosley gets a good home. I fostered a female greyhound called Bosley a few years ago before she went to GAP

wow, how lucky to have captured these photos, they made me smile just looking at them and imagining the fun they were having. I cant imagine my whippets doing that, I think they'd just stand there shivering with hunched backs.

Lure Coursing In Adelaide - For Non-greyhounds
Kirislin replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
 I keep checking in here as well, I dont know why, I cannot go, but I'm really excited for all of you who will be. It's a real thrill to see your dog running flat out with intent. If they've never done it before let them watch the others, and if you're like me and talk to your dog try to get them interested and watching the others. Most dogs know where to look if you point,(mine do anyway) so point at the lure and get all animated, hopefully the dog will pick up on your excitement. Oh, and make sure their muscles are warm and they're limbered up before hand, dont run a cold dog. -
Hey these are really good! Naomi, how did you fix the squinty eye, that one is amazing!

I am absolutely 100% sure we (by that I mean the club I am involved with) is not doing anything illegal.
-
oooh I haven't heard of liquify, but it looks good too.
-
Can provide the details? I was involved with the greyhound industry until fairly recently and the track manager told me they are only allowed to use cured skins for training, not fresh killed, or, obviously live animals. The reason they must be cured is to prove the animal was not alive when first attached to the lure. That is my understanding. Often the lure we use is a piece of rag that has been stored with fox and bunny skins in a bag. The day that photo was taken with just the fox tail as the lure, initially started the day with a piece of old rag, but it got wet and made the lure go too slowly so we had to lighten the load, so just tied the fox tail on.

 Yes, it's good for that, when ever I do it I think to myself, I should have just wiped the dogs eyes first.

any shots you take where the subject and or you, the photographer are moving, the camera must continue to re focus as it follows the moving subject.
-
I just find it a bit of fun and a challenge. I dont have content aware, so I just make it up.

Yep, I love panning shots to convey speed. I've been told I have a steady hand with my big heavy camera and lens combo. I even had an experienced racing photographer tell me he couldn't pan as steadily as me. This is a friend of mine at a track day last year. My first time photographing motorbikes. Very slow shutter with no IS IMG_3064dpp by kirislin, on Flickr Camera Canon EOS 7D Exposure 0.013 sec (1/80) Aperture f/13.0 Focal Length 200 mm ISO Speed 100 It's been favourited by alot of men (I assume) on flickr who like girls in leather, I was a bit creeped out when I saw the company my poor girlfriend is now keeping  Here's another one at 1/80th, it's harder to get slow shots of dogs because they're not rigid like vehicles, bits of them are flexing every which way, so there's alot more luck involved in getting their heads sharp at slow speeds. 5F6A0312dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr So I suppose my point is, for action shots, you either go very fast, or very slow.

Thanks! No, definitely didn't get paid for it, for me it was a learning exercise, I was especially happy with how I remade the little heart tag around his neck. I did this one too. I took the photo and was playing with HDR which I've overdone but I was happy with the bits I cloned out, the powerlines, the fence and that big wooden fence post in front of the cow, I remade the cows head and front leg. Oooh what a great open brief, I think August might be the windy month this year too, I was just saying that to a friend.

I'm getting better at cloning, I only use Canon DPP but I was pretty happy with this effort. Firstly, I DID NOT TAKE THIS PHOTO a person on another forum put it up asking for some help to get rid of some stuff she didn't want. Here's my fix. basil by kirislin, on Flickr and here's the original. basil original by kirislin, on Flickr I dont think you'd pick it had been doctored if you didn't see the original.

slower shutter speed if you're going for this effect. Same combo as you have 7D and siggy 17-70, although I suspect one of your little fluffies couldn't go as fast as this little whippet so you might not get quite the same result  IMG_1588dpptc by kirislin, on Flickr Camera Canon EOS 7D Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250) Aperture f/7.1 Focal Length 70 mm ISO Speed 400

No,not a typo..lol One of the main reasons I upgraded from the 400D - which had a max of 4,000 was to get a max of 8,000. I usually shoot as close to 8,000 as I can for action - greyhounds run bloody fast you know! I was about to answer Snook to say not a typo at all, but it's already been answered.

Pretty sure lilly pilly is safe, I know dogs who eat it and it's related to guavas and feijoas, then again, I suppose that's no guarantee, tomatoes and peppers are part of the nightshade family, and they're not all safe to eat. I still think lilly pillys are safe.
-
what was your shutter speed on the very first photo?
-
I've told you everything I can, the rest is up to YOU!!!
-
ewwww no! we dont have the whole carcass dragging along  Just maybe a fox tail or a bit of bunny skin. I have visions of mangled foxes bouncing along the ground leaving a trail of bits falling off. Here, this is what we have. IMG_2058dpp1 t by kirislin, on Flickr

Ours uses a bit of road kill generally  It gets put in the freezer for a few weeks first in case there's any bugs on it. Then I try to dry it and then it gets tied on the string.
-
I've never upgraded my camera, it's still as it was straight out of the box.

We have a whippet social racing club and we use a drag lure but only run in a straight line, no twistie turnies. Here's the album from the last meeting
