I'm wondering if she'll end up a dilute seal, assuming there is such a colour. I dont know.
-
No, you are right, there's a brownish hue to her.
-
Oh, and we still haven't worked out this girls colour. You can see a very faint stripe down the middle of her nose. It was wider at birth, it wasn't a pink (unpigmented) stripe, more a brownish colour. We think she is a dilute. Some days I am sure she is blue, other days she looks brown. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what she is? 5F6A5364dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

First eyeses! Boy Hello! by kirislin, on Flickr Mystery girl is not quite ready, maybe later today or tomorrow 5F6A5364dppt by kirislin, on Flickr And little Secret has surprised me yet again, I thought she'd be last of all, but no, looky here. :D 5F6A5367dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

How many in that litter? These two look so different.
-
 I'll tell him.

Nope I think I know how they were. The boy was on the right, the mystery girl was on the left and Secret was hidden further up in the rib cage somewhere. The reason I think I know which sides the girl and boy were on is because the boy is alot quieter and calmer than the girl. She is still very wiggle and that is how she was in the womb. And guess what?!?! Big boys eyes are starting to open. We think he is about 3 to 4 days further developed than the Secret girl, so I'm wondering if her eyes wont start opening until Tuesday or even Wednesday.

haha I just weighed them and before I put them on the scale I give them a snuffle and love to settle them, and I was breathing them in. If someone could figure out a way to create that smell they could sell it and make their fortune. thanks. I have to admit when I saw the photo of Secret in Marcus' hand I thought of those baby photos. It wasn't my intention when I took it but that's how it turned out.

I've seen this before, it's cute and funny. They're fit little yappers, see all the little girls had a turn on the reins.
-
thanks all. They're pretty cute, and no trouble at all yet. Neko keeps the whelping box immaculately clean, there's not alot of work for me to do. When they go onto meat and start walking around I will move them from my bedroom into a lino hallway that has close access to laundry and sinks because that's when I'll have to be cleaning lots and keeping an eye on them. Eyes will be opening any day now. Yesterday I started picking them up and holding them to the window so I could see if they're starting to open, but nothing as of yesterday. I can see their ears are starting to open but they cant hear just yet, it's just that when they're tiny the opening all just all sealed flat, but now I can see a little crevice forming as the seal releases. It's really interesting. I'm loving this time now I've got over my stress and anxiety.

thanks Caz. they look like little wombats there I think, although that little hippo's a pretty good likeness too. Marcus is smitten with his babies. He's like a kid at Christmas he's so happy with them, even the big lump of a boy.

Pig Rails In Whelping Boxes, Help Or Hazard?

Yes your quite right about having a circular one and also concave. Only problem as far as I am aware they have to be imported and at great expense. They also come with in built heating. I think the cheaper option is, as previously suggested, a clam shell pool and then buy a heat pad. I prefer to have one section warm and part of it not heated so they can crawl off the heat if they want to. If I ever breed another litter this is what I think I will go for. sounds a good plan ... I was thinking of something like a papasan Chair - you remember ? those cane half sphere things - gorgeous to sit in - impossible to get out of ? LOL aaah yes those were the days, when we were young and lithe and slim...........and we still couldn't get out of the damn things! -
This is exactly what I've been saying!

Finally my back has eased enough to let me put some photos up. These were taken on the 6th 5F6A5207dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5208dppt by kirislin, on Flickr couldn't decide about the editing, this one looks warmer but the other 2 are probably closer to the real colour. 5F6A5209dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5211dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5212dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5213dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5215dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5219dppt by kirislin, on Flickr My darling girl, she's still a yummy mummy, stitches and all. 5F6A5223dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

a friend just called around and saw then and she used to have a peke as a kid so she's borrowed them, but she doesn't want to keep them, so the offer is still here, if any Peke people want them just send me a PM. There was also a whole lot of Rottie and German shepherd books there, but I had to draw the line so I grabbed the less common books. It always seems a crime to me to destroy books.
-
I rescued some books from hard rubbish and wondered if anyone wanted them. Free, you just pay for postage. these are the titles: Pekingese by Heminie Warner Hill Pekingese by Pisano The Popular Pekingese by Vlasto and de Pledge. No dust cover and some kids scribble in the front but it's otherwise in good order. 4th ed 1958 The Popular Pekingese by Vlasto and de Pledge with slightly torn dust cover 5th edition 1962 The Quigley Book of the Pekingese by Dorothy A. Quigley They have some lovely old photos in them. The books smell a bit musty but they're not gross or anything, just old books. If they were on whippets or IGs I'd be thrilled to get them.

the daddy is not big, not sure who baby giant is taking after. He still might just end up a normal size, we will have to wait and see. I'm disappointed I haven't been able to get many photos. My back is really sore at the moment and I cannot get down low, plus Neko gets too stressed if I try to move their bed into better light. I dont think it's fair to her so I'll just have to wait a bit longer until I can get them somewhere with better light that Neko can cope with. She's relaxed alot but she is still very protective of them.

I hope so. :D

My Feather whippet was only 200gms at birth. He seems to be averaging 50gms a day now. If he only puts on 40gms one day he puts on 60gms the next. I think he'll be a lovely chilled out dog though, I hope so, when you pick him up now he's very relaxed, unless you've just plucked him off a teat. Then he complains.

 I love the very end where the sausage dog supposedly leaps into the ketchup's arms. Great throw more likely.

Pig Rails In Whelping Boxes, Help Or Hazard?
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in Breeders Community
thanks, I had to go out today and I didn't dare leave them unattended, even though I've rolled blankets up and put them behind the rails. My friend came down to puppy sit, I dont think she minded though, the puppies got plenty of cuddles. -
saw this on facebook. Just thought I'd share it around.

Pig Rails In Whelping Boxes, Help Or Hazard?

You'd have to ask her this question. Both times she was awake. With the most recent mishap she actually did try to move but as she did she was pressing on the puppys neck even more. It was just lucky I was there and able to push her head down and release the pup. My whippet Penny was the same though, she'd be laying on a puppy and it was squealing and she'd just lay there. I was the one who'd have to rescue it. You're lucky your girls are more responsive.
