I am not someone who particularly worries about snakes but YIKES! that one is really too close to home and I can understand your concern. I hope he's been safely removed, safe for him and you.

Hey all you whippeteers! Are your whippets itching to stretch their legs and run off all that Christmas Pud? Well we have just the thing for them and you. Our next fun day of course. We are planning it for Sunday Feb 21st commencing 11am (provided the greyhounds have finished trialling). **Due to unforseen circumstances (the bushfires being one) we had a few late notice cancellations or change of venues last year so I will send out a confirmation email to everyone on our mailing list, as well as posting here, the day before that the fun day will definitely be going ahead.** For those who haven't been to our fun days before, well, you dont know what you're missing. We now use a drag lure, which is just a bit of fur on a string that scoots along the ground at just a bit more than whippet speed, over about 200 metres. We run the dogs on the actual greyhound track which is a beautifully maintained straight grass track. We have lovely facilities, shade, picnic tables and we also provide for sale a barbeque (snags) and cold drinks, as well as FREE tea and coffee. Come along and make some new friends for yourself and your whippets. *Fun runs will be open to all whippets over 12 months old, $5 per dog for Members, $10 per dog for NON members, this entitles your dog to as many runs as it wants. We ask you to excercise good judgement and not run your dog until it's exhausted. Make sure your whippet is fit enough to run and not carrying any injuries. You run your whippet at your own risk. ***NOTE. If you dont know if your whippet will run at all, it's just $2 for a tryout. If your whippet is keen and does run then prices as stated above.*** All whippets must be muzzled to run, we have muzzles for hire or sale, just ask. Oh! before I forget, many thanks to all those who purchased our whippet calendars, we sold quite a few! http://www.redbubble.com/people/whippeteer...grace-and-speed At all our fun days this year I will be trying to get some exciting action shots to include in next years calendar, so if you want your whippet to be a calendar pin up you need to attend! If you have any questions please email us, y v w r c at hotmail. com leave out the spaces and replace at with @ and here's a pic of some of the crowd, just so you dont think I am imagining it all

12 Yr Old Golden Retreiver Coughing Up Blood
Kirislin replied to indigirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh no, that is so sad after the rollercoaster of emotions you've all gone through, the hope, the worry and fear, and now this. :D Poor old boy. -
I've only seen merle border collies in recent years. Certainly I dont ever recall seeing them when I was young, and I was a real dog fan even back then.

Does Anyone Choose Not To Crate Train?
Kirislin replied to BooBooBear's topic in General Dog Discussion
Huh? If you choose not to crate train your puppy you dont do anything. -
very cute little puppies Pixie.
-
OK thanks, I can definitely see the difference in the heads now.
-
Yeah, I can see that too in the pics provided, the borders shown look like they have more of a hare foot.
-
what is this one, I took it at a doggy Christmas party last year
-
I'd love to see some comparison pics Bonnie Parker, can you post side by sides of both breeds? I dont feel so silly for asking now, seeing as I am not the only one to be confused. Phew!
-
Oh good, I am glad I am not the only one.
-
I've found there's variation enough between border collies, from the short haired ones to the working lines to the show lines which seem to have a more domed head, well to my eye, dont shoot me if it's wrong, and the kelpies too, there's huge variation, some are real chunky stocky things and some look like they're half whippet. It gets mighty confusing after a while. I think in future I will have to ask what breed is that, and not assume.
-
You can always edit.
-
I've seen the merle ones but even them, I think I've heard you can get Borders in merle, although I dont know if I've ever seen one.
-
This might sound stupid to those who know the difference but I have to confess, I dont think I can tell the difference between them. I've seen photos of black and white Aussie shepherds that just look like Border collies to me. Can someone please explain the difference? Oh! and then there's the German Koolie! A lady at the park has a black one that I would've said was a kelpie but she said it's a Koolie, again, I cannot tell the difference, it's a pure black prick eared working dog.

Is It A Puppy Thing Or Is She Going To Remain Like This?
Kirislin replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a whippet who is still really playful, like she actually has a sense of humour, and she is nearly 11. She is still very fit and active too. I hope your sunshine and rainbows girl stays that way, how old is she now? -
Annie you dag. I love the bokeh mmmmmmmmmmmm
