Better off the other way round, buy camera in Australia and lenses online. DWI http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/index.asp seem to be comparable to buying from the US. I haven't bought from them but I sure am thinking about it if/when I get another lens.

Thanks Persephone, I actually did find that and some of them are very nice photos, but I dont see anything that makes them stand out from pics taken by other brands.

I was thinking about how many of us are looking to either get into photography, upgrade what we already have, or just buy more equipment. I wonder if those of us in the same state who are thinking of buying could maybe buy together. Might we have more bargaining power if we wanted to buy from a shop rather than online if we went together. Obviously it would only work if we are within a reasonable driving distance from each other and are really ready to cough up our hard earned cash. Just a thought. I think I'd be happy to buy lenses online but the camera body I'd be more likely to buy from a retailer.

I met one late last year and although I've never seen one in the flesh before I asked her if it was a Patterdale. She was very surprised that I knew. I took some photos of it but none were very good, it was so lively I couldn't get an in focus pic. It was a gorgeous little dog.

Is your computer old? I am hopeless with computers but when I first got my camera (400d) I couldn't download any of the cds that came with it and couldn't view any photos, my computer was too old, I had to buy an brand new computer as well.

This is often where I find things difficult. It's hard for me to squat, crouch or bend over. I eventually do but it's a major operation getting down, and then up again.

we've got a fire in Healesville now, I dont think it's serious (yet) but I've been hearing the sirens and blaring horns as they blast road hogs to get out of their way. I heard some thunder go off really close about half an hour ago, I think lightning might have caused a fire then, it's quite near to my place.

He's a very photogenic bloke. the first thing that came to my mind here is "dreaming of Lance" someone asked about Greyhounds dirty teeth. Trainers dont seem to feed them bones. They get nothing to really chew, it's usually either mushy or dry food and most have disgusting teeth. I only know of one who's in training who has lovely white teeth and yes his owner /trainer always gets him at least one bone a week. Sadly, the dog has absolutely no ability, but his owner loves him.

I bought the 400D with kit lenses but the WEREN'T IS and for snap shots that aren't at the extreme zoom and if you aren't wanting a superfast shutter speed they are just OK but they often have alot of that purple fringing around the edges and often dont focus where I'd want them to. I put the 18-55 away about 18months ago and haven't used it since. The 75-300 I kept using for longer and kept getting disappointed. I put it away when I got a new zoom. If I was to do it over again, I would just buy the body I wanted and start off with either a mid range zoom or a 50mm 1.8 (or 1.4 if you can afford it ) and work up from there. Oh, and I would definitely buy the lenses online, the body I am not so sure about.

I'm so shocked and sorry to see this. My deepest sympathy to Serena, what a huge hole he will leave in her heart. I loved reading of Rocco and Ralphs adventures as did everyone I think. I wanted to see my favourite thread on the big fella but I think it's been removed.

Lovely photos, I like what you've done with them. I love the 100mm macro, yes it's a pretty substantial lens isn't it. It's really versatile though. Congratulations, I think you'll have alot of fun with it.
