Please Make Sure Your Dogs Are Okay In The Heat
Kirislin replied to InspectorRex's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well so far here it's not too bad, only 34C according to my thermometer so hopefully it will all turn out to be a fizzer. I wont mind at all if the weather bureau got it wrong. I keep listening to the radio though and going out to look at the sky for smoke, same thing I did on that awful Feb day. -

Your wish is my command I bought the clam shells for Tag the whippet but as you can see we have a bit of a duckweed infestation. And that happened because of the tadpole infestation! -

and native animals too. I've just gone out to make sure there's water bowls low down for lizards and birds have their bird bath. I am going to hose under some of my shady bushes too in case the dogs want to lay there. And before someone has a go at me, I am on tank water. -
It was such a beautiful evening last night. Penny and Puck enjoying the last light of the day. I know it's poorly composed, but I still like it. and another. Oops forgot, I want to say what lens I've used from now on when I post pics. these were with the 70-200

I've already failed, I haven't managed to post a photo a day. You've all posted some amazing photos, way too many to comment on. anyway here's a couple I took late yesterday as the sun was setting, it was a beautiful evening here. -
that's a front foot, she's got a bumper on it.

No idea, some sort of hunting mix in there but I have to say her feet look shocking, she looks completely flat footed. edit aah, I posted as soon as I saw the first pics, now I've read through I see others have noticed the same.

What a great photo Shell, typifies a goofy puppy. Tell them to make sure he gets wormed too. -

Not a great shot but all I took today was of the Peregrine falcon. If you look carefully in the upper left you will see a tiny white mark, it's a bird and the falcon immediately turned to watch it. It must be amazing to see the world through their eyes. -
Yep, whippet as part of a sled dog team. I always knew they'd be able to do it.

I had a really funny cute thing happen once with Puck. I had him in the car with me and amazingly they're always good with food if I go shopping, they never touch it, even meat but this one day I was going visiting and I went in to yummy Beechworth bakery to buy something creamy to take with me. I put it in the front passenger floor well because I didn't want him to squash it. I had to go into another shop for something I said sternly to leave. When I came back there was a tiny lick out of the cream, just a little itsy bit gone. So he knew he wasn't to touch it, but the temptation to have some took over, but he still had the self control not to just wolf it all down and was able to just sneak that tiny bit, just like a person dipping their finger in the cream when nobody is looking. How he managed to not just think Oh to hell with it and wolf the whole lot down I dont know.

who would ever know there's such a clever, artistic, creative, kooky, wacky girl under that "normal" exterior. -
No, I dont think so, I was quite calm and just called her. If I'd given her the chicken wing I know I could've just gone straight up to her, but if she steals it off another dog she wont let me get near her. It's happened before, she is a devil, a clever gorgeous one though. If ever I get myself a video camera I will prove it. hahaha
-
Mine do, particularly Her Wickedness, Kibah. If I give any of them a bone I can go up while they are eating it and take it off them, no problem. I always return it to them of course. But today Kibah stole little houseguests chicken wing, and do you think I could get anywhere near her to get it back??? Not a chance. As soon as it was all gone though she quite happily trotted up to me. She's too smart for her own good that bad girl.
