The Official January Photo A Day Challenge
Kirislin replied to Ashanali's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I must come here 10 times a day to see the updates. I love seeing what everyone has photographed it's a snapshot into our lives isn't it. Ripley what do you feed the loris? What is nectar, I know they would naturally get it from flowers but what is the commercial nectar. I've had loris come here a couple of times and they just had a nibble of the bird seed but they haven't come back now since the last time I got pics of them. If I knew what to put out for them I would get some. -

sigh, great photos everyone, those weather ones are spectacular! My whippets were not feeling cooperative today, the girlies just wanted to go inside and Puck had an itch to be scratched. Oh yeah, I deliberately went to the strawberry farm because they've got these beautiful purple roses, a colour I have never seen before and I thought I'll take some pics of them for the challenge, well, it was way too challenging. too windy so no purple roses  -

Smaller than it looks. this frog was tiny, it's only recently morphed into a frog. I rescued it this morning as I was moving some pot plants to give them a drink, it had been sheltering in one of them and fell onto the path. I put it under a lilypad leaf and it stayed there for several hours. It's gone now, I hope it's going to be OK. The death rate of new baby frogs in pretty high 1/200 f 5.6 iso 400 55mm (cheapie kit lens) -

Photography by torchlight. No flash. I just took this a few minutes ago with torchlight. I put a white plastic shopping bag over the torch to soften the glow and, torch in one hand, camera in the other I took this little frog. I am pretty happy with it considering the tecnique I had to use. 1/10 f 1.6 ISO 400 lens, my fantastic 50mm 1.4 -
Persephone, your photos are good enough without altering them with special effects. I wish you could get a DSLR, nothing could stop you.

ooh Ripley, my heart skipped a beat when I saw your pics! In 1996 I took my two horses all the way from here(Yarra Valley) up to the base of Barrington tops and turned for home. I rode through that country with those spectacular rock formations, I rode through the Widden Valley, over Nullo mountain and down into Glen Alice, and camped at Glen Davis, your pics have to be somewhere close to there, I am sure, is that where you live, if so put the guest sheets on the bed!! The three of us never got all the way home but of what we saw, that part was my favourite. -
but using the search function how. by searching for dogs or the original artist/photographer?
-
How did you find Vickies image there. I cant imagine anyone would use mine although I did see someone had put one of mine on her favourites page, but I am sure that's allowed.

TLC I think your nephew is so cute with his dimples, he's gonna be a stunner in 15 years time. If I was 45 years younger! anyway, here's todays effort. I took this up the park with my crappy little kit lens. I think it has a semi macro thing happening -
Rifle birds are also native to Australia. Aren't bower birds also birds of paradise, I think they are, and I've always had a suspicion that even lyre birds might be distantly related, although the books dont say so.

so many amazing photos here I just cant comment on them all but I am in awe of what I see, and rather envious, I lack the creative talent that so many of you have here, Oh well, at least I can appreciate it. Kristin that looks like my bedroom on a normal day. Ruth, your pic looks like jewels. -

good!!! I am terrified of them. -
a frog by torchlight. Not a great shot but that lens sure is good in low light. It was pitch dark outside and all I had was the torch.

On my ceiling very early this morning. It became an early morning snack for Kibah. -
cant sleep either Ruger? I should be in bed, I have to start work at 8am. Not sure what you mean about the pics cause the clickable ones are the same size as the smaller ones except they have the black stripe along the top that you can click on to make them bigger. I need to go to bed.

so many beautiful, creative pics here. I dont think I'll be taking any pics today but I did take this one shortly after midnight last night so it qualifies for today. It'll have to do -
Yes, I am downloading the large, if I download the medium they come out the size they are already but you cant click to enlarge them. Doing it this way gives two options, as they are or see a bigger version by clicking. Well that's how I understand it. Just did a little test, I edited the thread and removed the code that makes them large, so the first 3 are now just mediums and the others can be enlarged by clicking.
