She's out and so far from all accounts coping very well. She clearly won a few hearts at the quarantine station and must have done the same overseas as her crate had her name and a loveheart drawn on it, and it wasn't done by her former owners, so some one in transit drew it. She is very lovely, we took her for a walk up to the shopping centre with her new "roomie" Woody the basset so they could meet on neutral ground and she took it all in her stride. Her new mum arranged for her kids to get out of school early so they could meet her, because it's a pretty special day. I took some photos you can see them here. Meet Mittens.

small world. :D

I took all the meat off the bones for them. It smelled good too, I would have like to eat it myself.

Yes, like this. I've been reminiscing and looking back on them and feeling all emotional, in a warm fuzzy sort of way. 5F6A7206dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr

Please don't allow them to c-section your bitch unless they do a progesterone test to ascertain she is close enough to ready. Sometimes with small litters, bitches don't produce enough hormone to go into active labour so if you feel she's acting off or unusually, make sure you head to the vet for a check. ah yes, that's what I was thinking of, it tells them if the puppies are "cooked" enough :D

Could This Be Behaviour Or Medical Problem
Kirislin replied to mumtoshelley's topic in General Dog Discussion
Perhaps it's just pack dynamics, now there's more dogs in her pack she feels threatened about her place and thinks she has to assert her authority. Sometimes things like this can trigger fighting between dogs who used to get on well. -
I'd definitely get her permission before posting photos or giving any more information here. She can share what she wants on FB but it's her choice.

On Friday I'm taking a friend to quarantine in Melb to pick up her dog, but I dont know if I'm allowed to give anymore details. I just had to let off some steam because it's a big deal and I'm really looking forward to meeting her.

that sounds very similar to my first experience too. I had been listening to the puppies heartbeats and could hear one slowing down. I told the vet and she just rolled her eyes at me and didn't even bother to check. Over the next few days Kibah got sicker and sicker and I kept telling the vet there was something wrong. Eventually she took notice when Kibah was almost dead. She had to have an emergency caesar and spey and the vet pulled out one dead puppy and another died the next morning. Why is the vet going to do a caesar on your bitch Amstar? They can usually tell when she's ready with a hormone test, I forget which one. Perhaps she can whelp naturally when she's truly ready.

Have you ever had a bitch give birth at home. Will you have help?
-
I think if my dog hadn't eaten for 5 days I would have taken her to the vet by now.
-
If you sat with her while she was quiet and just placed your hand on her tummy you might feel them move if she's got any puppies. Sounds like a vet check might be a good idea. It can be a stressful time. Good luck with her.

thanks, that's just what I wanted to read. Number one looks lively and animated but she's got a deadly intensity, sort of cool calm and collected, in number two to my eye and it's the one I chose. :D

I need a photograph of a running dog so thought I'd use my own Neko as the model. I made my choice and then someone's said they prefer a different photo of her. so I thought I'd put it to the vote. Photo 1 5F6A9806dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Photo 2 Baby can RUN!! by kirislin, on Flickr

We'd really be asking a few questions if it was Stan.

that's so funny.

That's odd...the wombat poo in Tassie is square, just over an inch in diameter & is placed in neat little piles on top of things & it is pale brown. here too, and it's kind of square as well, like yours. The colour probably depends on what they're eating. They should all be squares, its a wombat thing, to stop it rolling off when they put it on top of things for their scent marking. Had a class at uni about it yesterday Stackable IKEA poos
-
No shooting wouldn't be possible here, I'm on a few acres but all the other properties are smaller. A stray bullet here could easily end up in someone's house. Way too dangerous.

are you trying to get me killed.

Yeah, I looked it up too and thought the same. As soon as I saw it I thought it might be deer, which is why I took the photo, I dont make a habit of photographing poos
