I wonder if a dog chooses a crate how many would leap up into the top row ones.
-
I asked about the plastic crates. Did you know they're not plastic crates at all, they're muttmansions, multi-storey carpeted houses! If he ever closes down that business he could get a job as a real estate description writer. "all the dogs have access to individual open crates, individual dog houses but almost all choose to sleep in the MuttMansions I each yard, multi-storey carpeted houses."

I an not personally sure. But I have been to that facility a number of times & dont recall seeing kennekekennels or runs. There certainly is at front of property but they belong to box hill lodge, i believe. I've asked them, that will settle it, if I get an answer.

Black Dogs Project: Helping Darker Canines Find A Home
Kirislin replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Black dogs are great! I bet I'd have no trouble at all finding a new home for this one. 5F6A9710_1 by kirislin, on Flickr -
are you sure that's where the dogs sleep?

that sounds promising Oso. I try to leave the corn pads on him as long as they'll stay, but when they fall off during the day instead of putting another one on then I just put Eulactol heel balm on his toe, and then in the evening when he goes to bed I put a fresh corn pad on. Last nights one is still on, hoping I see a difference when it comes off today. I should have been taking photos of the progress.

Yep I've heard they're common in Greys, and I've got a friend with a whippet at the moment with one. I noticed it last week and they were about to get it cut out I think. It was before I realised Pucky had one. I've got 5 more corn pads that I'll use up and if that doesn't work I might have to investigate other treatments. Pucky is a very good patient and I'm hoping the corn pads work.

I wrote to all the admins asking why and the first one wrote back and said it was probably a mistake at first but then when they saw my name again it seemed familiar so they just deleted it. He was very nice and apologised and let me in. :D

I've tried twice to join and both times it was rejected. At first I thought I'd made a mistake but I definitely clicked join, and saw that it was pending, but now again it's back to join. They must think I'm some kind of radical. Me?????

thanks all. So far I've just put a corn pad on and bandaged it. He's such a good boy, I just asked him to leave the bandage and he has, but this is the first pad 8 more to go, so I'll see what it's like at the end of treatment. If that doesn't work I'll follow up with contacting your friend Jo.

I did it.

Newbie Questions Esp About Fencing And Wildlife
Kirislin replied to Watto's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes, actually, I'm extremely lucky because my whippets could easily clear my fences, any determined dog could, it just hasn't occurred to them. -
thanks Perse, you're always quick to offer help and ideas.

Newbie Questions Esp About Fencing And Wildlife
Kirislin replied to Watto's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree that you need a securely fenced area for your dog. I live in an area not far from you, I'm on 10 acres and get wildlife, mainly foxes, rabbits and kangaroos coming up close to the house. My dogs dont get access to the whole property, they'd be off in a flash if they got the chance. I have an area around the entire house with dog proof fencing, so it's a bit like a suburban sized house and yard plonked in a big paddock. When ever I go into the paddock the dogs stay in the house yard, or if I take them out, they go on a leash. I believe you can train some dogs not to chase the birds that come into the yard. My dogs have learnt to ignore the many varieties of wild birds who come around, and I have 2 chickens that free range with them. I've also discouraged them from getting excited if they see kangaroos near the house as I dont want them trying to jump the fence to chase them, so I've trained them to pretty much ignore them, to consider them just the same as my mare, who doesn't get a second glance. The roos come up close too! This big buck was at the house yard gate! Fortunately the whippets didn't see this one, they might have got excited seeing him this close, I had to go out and shoo him away. I'd hate to think of what might have happened if he'd decided to hop over to eat the grass in my yard. Stay out! by kirislin, on Flickr foxes too, that's the same gate the 'roo was at. It happens to everyone with a good camera and lenses. Someone asks you to do paid work for them. I've always said I'm a hobby photographer, I think I have a fairly realistic view of my ability and dont kid myself about it. A friend has asked me to take some photos for him for his business and my first reaction was to say no. I've already told him I'm just a hobbyist but he wants to get me to have a go. So now I'm thinking, I've got nothing to loose, if he doesn't like them I wont charge him, he doesn't have to use them. But what if I end up taking shots he's really happy with? What would I charge? I have no idea.

unloved so cruel

And would that be Puck, Denali or another of Tracey's dogs :) Some one else has a dog called PUCK?!?!?!! Noooooooooo! We need a tantrum emoticon here.
-
I've got some corn pads and for now I might try just putting a fresh one on every night, starting tonight. If I cant bandage it well enough to keep in on during the day time I'm hoping it will at least help by having it on for 12 hours or so every night.

I dont know her, is she on DOL?

Puck has a deformed foot and leg so often limps, but I had been noticing him holding his funny foot up a bit more than usual lately, and I had a good look at it and discovered he's got a corn! I'm wondering if anyone's ever used human corn pads on dog's feet to remove them?
-
send them an email asking for their phone number so you can ring them. Also, have you tried looking their phone number up in the phone book, it might be there. Is there a chance he was dreaming when he stood up and piddled? Some dogs do sleep walk

local vet is $55ish I think and the one at Mt Evelyn is $65ish, but they're open 7 days a week for no extra charge which is pretty good I think.

the facebook link doesn't work I thought she was a dingo as soon as I saw the clip. Neko would be dead in an instant at that place because as soon as one of my whippets even touches her when they're running, she squeals to warn them. If she did that in a group of excited boisterous dogs who dont know her she'd likely be torn to shreds. I can imagine if poor little Wags yelped because he was trodden on, or knocked the same thing would have happened. Can someone post a link to the facility's page please?

Even though it's not actually the best weather for it, Neko and her whole doggy clan had a day at the beach yesterday. They loved it, even little old Feather still wearing her coat. IMG_1651_1 by kirislin, on Flickr

I have had dogs "wet the bed" just like kids do. It's usually been when they're really tired if they've had a big day. Penny whippet did it a couple of times even as a young adult dog after she'd been to the whippet races. I think she was just exhausted. I hope there's nothing wrong with your puppy and he's just had a full on day and it too tired to wake up when his bladder is full.
