Oh crap. Hugs Juice.

Whippet? Would be suitable if he is relatively quiet and gentle with animals, as that is how they are (except when running of course!).
-
The trouble with oxygen is it can be dangerous so might be hard to obtain. I did post in the other thread though - try Wildlife caring folks.

You can also try your local wildlife carers group. Items like older humidicribs are often donated to such groups for care of tiny marsupials etc.

Can I Ask For Some Prayers For My Furbaby?
Alyosha replied to esky's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh Esky. I've been reading and following with no words. I'm sorry to hear she isn't improving. It must be so hard after losing your other bubs. But I'm sure you'll know if the time is right for her to go. If worst comes to worst would the vets let you bring her home for a little while, and then make a house call so she could stay at home with you? Huge hugs to you both. -

Is There Any Things Said About Your Breed...
Alyosha replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yay!! :D I still get excited when we meet a member of the public who knws what they are though! Yeah but how much does he eat mate? Anyway, my sister's friend's next door neighbour's brother in law had one that was bigger than that. First you need to ask: "What does he weigh?" so you can mentally add at least 20kgs - then tell everyone how much more huge and awesome your mate's one is... Reminds me so much of an old story... :D Years ago when we moved to a country town our kids were dropped off at the gate by the school bus. Some children from a local (disreputable...) family who kept mixed breed pigdogs pointed out our dog in the yard and asked what it was. My kids replied - "He's an Afghan hound". They had always known him so thought nothing of it. The only response they got was, "Yeah? Well I bet my dad's dog would beat it in a fight." My kids came home and asked why anyone would want their dogs to fight?? They were genuinely confused... So cute, in a slightly sad way... :) -

Mine - yes, they are big. Yes, they are similar to hairy greyhounds. No, they don't eat that much. Yes they do run fast. No they're not "Lassie" crosses. -
Sighthound People Is This A Sloughi?
Alyosha replied to mixeduppup's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
AWL will only adopt him to someone suitable. -
I think the focus here is not the good pig hunters. Good and well trained dogs are unlikely to end up in the pound, or abandoned when lost in the bush. The cowboys are the problem, their dogs are not always well trained, or managed, and can well be dangerous. Granted it is usually the duds that get dumped at the pounds, being too soft for redneck hunting escapades, and they can and do make good pets. But the poor training and mis-management of some can cause serious temperament issues.

Need Before And After Pics! Warning Graphic Images May Upset
Alyosha replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh those poor Peis... You guys doing their rescue deserve serious medals. Such happy dogs when they are healthy and happy. :) Our breed would be more subtle and may not be obvious enough for what you need. They are not in rescue very often, but deeply affected by shelter an pound environments. I can do a pound photo, and a post-rescue pic. From "Please don't touch me, I'm scared" to "Hug me more!" within days: -
Because it's importers and suppliers are happy to flaunt the law, and procedures in place to try and protect animal health in Australia, in favour of making a quick buck. If it's being imported or sold there are possible criminal offences involved and people should save their money and report it here: http://www.apvma.gov.au/compliance/report.php And bear in mind, for Troy's sake - that the publishing of notices offering unregistered vet products may also be an offence.

Vitamin B6, and vitamin B complex as well. They can be given a couple of hours before a trip. If a long trip try the day before as well, and some vitamin C as well as stress can put pressure on the immune system and Vit C will give it a bit of a boost.

Make sure if you use this stuff that it is the natural formula. The other one contains a daily dose of antibiotic (Tylosin) which is unapproved for use in Australia as it's long term effects are not known. With regards to this. I have friends overseas who have used fish antibiotics on their dogs for many years for tear staining (a pinch in their food every night) and none of them reported any adverse effects with long term use, whether physically or with respects to reproductive health either. That's not to say that I personally would do this, but I don't think it is essentially a major concern. Tylosin is an antibiotic implicated in resistance issues in human health. http://www.apvma.gov.au/products/review/current/macrolide_antibiotics.php It also has potential side effects and interactions with other medications. http://www.petplace.com/drug-library/tylosin-tylan/page1.aspx Anything containing antibiotic should be approved for sale in Australia (Angels Eyes original is not), and/or prescribed by a vet taking into account other heath issues, medications, etc etc. Veterinary drugs aren't screened for safety and efficacy just to be a pain in the butt, but to try and protect the health of our animals.

I would try some vitamins in a pup that has had an immune shock. Vitamin B Complex and C in particular.

Over-furmination - What Else Is Good For Undercoat?
Alyosha replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep. Rake all the way, and a good old fashioned long toothed, wide spaced comb. -

What Would Your Friends And Family Do With Your Dogs?
Alyosha replied to Alyosha's topic in General Dog Discussion
What would happen pebbles if you were out of action but not deceased? Would your next of kin know? If we're critcally ill wills don't get read, even if we can't communicate (coma etc). And would they do it? Wndering at non doggy people here who may think it cruel to pts and may look to shelter or rescue. -
Yes. Slow maturing breeds can come in later. Her breeding can also effect it - some family lines are earlier or later bloomers than others. I say enjoy the peace while you have it! In my breed less than 15 months is unusual for a first one, 15-18 is more normal. But later still happens.

What Would Your Friends And Family Do With Your Dogs?
Alyosha replied to Alyosha's topic in General Dog Discussion
Good points indeed Sway. Breeders are often in a more difficult position that your average pet owner due to numbers. Even if just a few, a few dogs is a much bigger ask for friends and family to deal with than one or two. Then there can be breeding issues, pups or pregnancy, and aged dogs with different needs. All the stuff that we deal with day to day and which alls apart if we're suddenly not there. Megan, that is what I'm currently worried about. Family and friends thinking they know what is best, and maybe doing their own thing. I suppose atthe end of the day it can be taken out of you hands in certain circumstances, but it's slightly comforting to know you have done all you can to make your wishes known. -
The tricky bit will be getting her to leave it alone. If it is only a skin tear it should be fine. One of mine recently tore a hole in himself (just skin) and we really struggled to keep him from it. But the bucket thing did work eventually! A good dressing is plain vitamin E cream (sorbolene) mixed up with a blob of Savlon and just wiped over the wound. Leave it uncovered if you can, a bucket collar is better than wrapping it up.

What Would Your Friends And Family Do With Your Dogs?
Alyosha replied to Alyosha's topic in General Dog Discussion
That would be many people's wish for some dogs who have meidcal, behaviour, or age related issues that we are confident in dealing with. But how do we make sure it happens? Many non dog people would find that quite confronting. I can imagine leaving them at a pound or shelter can seem a much easier option (for the person that is!). A contributing factor can also be that these family and friends are suffering their own grief, loss, shock and stress and judgement can be altered. Dyzney I really like your idea. Really really like it. It could be a very good way of putting next of kin in touch with trusted dog friends.
