  1. Mix the following and store in a very clean, dry, airtight bottle. I then pour some of this into a clean small bottle with a squirty top for every day use. I use a Dawn dishwashing liquid bottle as it is clear and I can see what is happening inside (some of my friends get "floaties" in their mixtures but I never have). I also never touch anything to the top of the bottles - always pour straight out onto a makeup remover pad, cotton wool or tissue (think this is why I don't get floaties as I am not contaminating the mixture). 1 litre cool boiled water 1 tablespoon baby shampoo 1 tablespoon boracic acid powder Be careful not to get into the eyes. Dry the area after wiping. Hope it works for you.
  2. I use a home-made recipe for cleaning the eyes of my cats. I have been using it for years without any problems and it keeps well. If anyone wants it, please let me know and I will dig it out and post it later today when I have more time.

:D What a lovely tribute to a special mate. I'm so sorry for your loss.
  4. Sorry everyone, I should have been a little more specific With the Malaseb I just bath the entire dog/cat with it until the problem has cleared up. Then I would go on to something more gentle.
  5. I find Malaseb an excellent product for clearing up hot spots and fungus type problems between the toes. It is also great for cleaning dogs ears! I mix a very small amount into some water and just bath the spots daily, leave on for 10 minutes and then wipe off. Then an overall bath in this once or twice a week. It is available from vets, online and at the pet food warehouse type places. Good luck with your dog. There is nothing worse than a dog scratching itself - for you and the dog!
  6. Thanks everyone for your kindness. I keep seeing her out of the corner of my eye so I feel she is still here, keeping an eye on me I miss you Cindy-girl.
  7. Cindy came into my life in February 1992 as a young (10-12 months) ACD X from the Wollongong RSPCA shelter. She was very thin and timid at first but after lots of love and attention she blossomed into the perfect dog for me. She seemed to understand whatever I said to her and learnt very quickly the basic training commands from someone who didn't have much of an idea herself then. She was very fond of the cats and would often be found laying with her head in the box with the mums and the newborn kittens. She would also carry the kittens around if I let her. A very gentle girl. In the last couple of years she suffered from arthritis and PRA. By early January this year she was totally blind and deaf but coping very well and still loving her walks (on-lead) in the off-leash dog park. About 6 weeks she was diagnosed with cancer and renal failure. With medication she was still leading a good quality of life but this morning she had a funny turn while eating her breakfast and died while I watched helplessly. It was all such a shock but it happened very quickly and so I know she didn't suffer and I am glad that I was there with her at the end. Rest in Peace my beautiful girl.
  8. My deepest sympathy at this very sad happening. It is sad enough to lose one beloved pet but two in such a short time would be unbearable. My thoughts are with you.
