  1. There are a few different things that help: hydrobath metal tooth comb (stripping comb with two rows of teeth of different lengths) wet rubber gloves curry comb (used for horses) it just depends on the type of coat she has as to what works best.
  2. So did that bone weigh about 2 kg Glad to hear his back home and hope he continues to go well.
  3. Erggghhhhh too much information Poor Hobbes. I hope his internal pieces start to work properly again soon.
  4. I am giving my fussy little rescue dog pet milk mixed with an egg and she loves it. I mix 250 ml with one raw egg and give it to her over two days (she is tiny). She also likes BBQ chicken breast but leaves the bits with the skin She won't touch anything with fish or Megaderm in it - very weird. Actually tonight I gave her tinned food, in desperation, and she scoffed it down so I am guessing that is what she is used too so I will start to slowly mix dry food into that. This is my first experience with a fussy dog
  5. What a shock. RIP Harm. Be pain free, run fast and free

    Molly

Molly was very lucky to live out the last few months of her life with you and Mr R at Mudgee. RIP Molly, run free and fast :p
  8. Thanks for that info! I will give it a go on poor little Holly, nearly bald from flea allergy dermatitis!
  9. Try some nice smelly fish mixed in with whatever you wish her to eat. My rescue poodle cross girl was very fussy when she came here and would not eat most things. I tipped some sardines in oil over some dry food and mixed it up and she has never looked back.
  10. I'm so very sorry to hear this news I have lost two dogs to cancer in the last 18 months so know how you feel. Thinking of you both and Jenna at this time.
  11. I find the Bi-Carb works really well. I clean the area really well with Bio Zet laundry powder and then dry with a towel and then pack on the Bi-Carb and leave until dry. Remember that the smell gets down into the underfelt as well - I have on occasion removed a piece of underfelt and replaced it and cleaned the carpet from underneath as well. When you have the area cleaned cover it in aluminium foil - the cats hate that and won't walk on it. Some cats also don't like covered litter trays and if she is a little bit dotty she may have an aversian to the cover so try the tray without the cover. Also cleaning with bleach and ammonia based products attracts the cat so I always clean my litter trays with bleach. Also maybe try a different litter - what are you using? The best solution is to rip up the carpet in the whole house
  12. My first thought is a thyroid problem. Please keep us updated Sidoney. Fingers crossed that it is nothing to worry about!
  13. My piggy dogs have raided both cat and dog biscuits on a couple of occasions. One day I came home to find them so bloated they could hardly walk. Fortunately the only ill-effects were what came out the other end  Now I have barrels with screw on lids!
  14. Thanks everyone. Your thoughts are much appreciated.
  15. JoJo is now waiting at the Bridge with her best mate, Cindy. She was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma in July and today told me that she was ready to go. She was a lovely little dog that lived to please herself. She could keep up with the cattle dogs and would play roughly with them all the time. I really think she thought she was a much bigger dog than she was. She tolerated the cats grooming her and would often roll over so they could groom her tummy for her She had 3 litters of pups in her younger days and was a great mother to 12 puppies in all. She also then was a great mother to Digger when he arrived nearly 4 years ago. Run free and fast JoJo. No more pain. RIP
  16. I'm sorry you lost one of your's today BooBoo. Run free Fat Boy
  17. Thinking of you Pesh at this sad time. Run free and be pain free, Sir Bastion :D
  18. I had a dog that had this problem and after about the sixth visit to the vet to have her glands expressed he talked me into having the anal glands removed. He said: "God put 2 things on this earth which we have no need for - cockroaches and anal glands" So my girl had hers removed and never looked back! She always smelt very pleasant after that. Best money I ever spent!!!
  19. What a lovely boy! I hope your many wonderful memories comfort you at this time. Run free and be pain free Cadence
  20. I have had great results with Revolution on cats - I picked up a rescue Persian girl that was so full of fleas I nearly had a pink fit! I popped on the Revolution and all fleas dead within a couple of hours! So maybe try that on the cats. Probably a silly question but are you treating the yard, house bedding etc?
  21. My dad's BC cross had a paw with the same symptoms. She had a fungal condition that was treated with antibiotics and a daily foot soak for 10 minutes in a weak solution of Malaseb and warm water, no rinsing. So maybe give the Malaseb a go if you have some on hand.
  22. RIP Flissie - be pain free and run free
  23. Oh poor George ;) He was a lovely boy that would have stayed here except for his dislike of my cats RIP George, run free (don't let any other dogs get that ball!) and be pain free Here is he on his first day out of SDH
  24. Poor Pirate, Rozzie and Trisven. Run free little fellow
  25. Oh Birni I am so sorry to hear the news and sorry that I didn't see the post earlier I have just been told that my 10 year old Shih Tzu, JoJo, has lmphosarcoma. Last week she had an exploratory and a bowel lesion was discovered. She had a bowel resection and this week has been going great so I thought she would be fine. Then the vet rang ;). I remembered this thread as I lost a cat to lymphoma about 18 months ago, so went searching and now I am in tears. Thanks everyone for your input on this thread. I will read the links and digest the information tomorrow when I am not so upset. Rusty: JoJo's initial symptoms have been vomiting up bile and on these days very listless. But the next day she would be fine and running around like normal. These days would be every couple of weeks and then progressed to more frequent. Then I noticed she was losing weight so the tests started. Nothing showed up in blood or urine or x-ray. A growth was seen with an ultrasound so then an exploratory was done. RIP Kiya
