Thinking of you Pesh at this sad time. Run free and be pain free, Sir Bastion :D

I had a dog that had this problem and after about the sixth visit to the vet to have her glands expressed he talked me into having the anal glands removed. He said: "God put 2 things on this earth which we have no need for - cockroaches and anal glands" So my girl had hers removed and never looked back! She always smelt very pleasant after that. Best money I ever spent!!!

What a lovely boy! I hope your many wonderful memories comfort you at this time. Run free and be pain free Cadence

I have had great results with Revolution on cats - I picked up a rescue Persian girl that was so full of fleas I nearly had a pink fit! I popped on the Revolution and all fleas dead within a couple of hours! So maybe try that on the cats. Probably a silly question but are you treating the yard, house bedding etc?

My dad's BC cross had a paw with the same symptoms. She had a fungal condition that was treated with antibiotics and a daily foot soak for 10 minutes in a weak solution of Malaseb and warm water, no rinsing. So maybe give the Malaseb a go if you have some on hand.

RIP Flissie - be pain free and run free

Oh poor George ;) He was a lovely boy that would have stayed here except for his dislike of my cats RIP George, run free (don't let any other dogs get that ball!) and be pain free Here is he on his first day out of SDH

Oh Birni I am so sorry to hear the news and sorry that I didn't see the post earlier I have just been told that my 10 year old Shih Tzu, JoJo, has lmphosarcoma. Last week she had an exploratory and a bowel lesion was discovered. She had a bowel resection and this week has been going great so I thought she would be fine. Then the vet rang ;). I remembered this thread as I lost a cat to lymphoma about 18 months ago, so went searching and now I am in tears. Thanks everyone for your input on this thread. I will read the links and digest the information tomorrow when I am not so upset. Rusty: JoJo's initial symptoms have been vomiting up bile and on these days very listless. But the next day she would be fine and running around like normal. These days would be every couple of weeks and then progressed to more frequent. Then I noticed she was losing weight so the tests started. Nothing showed up in blood or urine or x-ray. A growth was seen with an ultrasound so then an exploratory was done. RIP Kiya

Jordelette I am so sorry for your loss. After 16 years I am sure you have many happy memories of her which will remain with you. RIP Indi, little girl.

So sorry Vehs. I think you started grieving for Princess Nub when she first became ill and you knew you would have to make the decision to relieve her of her suffering. RIP little girl

I vaccinate my own kittens and cats. I discussed it with my vet first and he said he didn't have a problem with me doing it. Edited to add that he gives all kittens their first vaccination and health checks them at the same time.

What a lovely looking girl and it sounds like you have lovely memories of her. RIP Fudge

I'm so sorry Rozzie. He was a very handsome fellow. RIP Gizmo

I understood that it was legal in NSW to use no-bark collars on dogs only if you had a vet's prescription.

This is definitely not normal behaviour but she could just be a big sook. I would take her back to the vet tomorrow just to be sure. Is she eating OK?
-
RIP Luther and run free Mr and Mrs R, thinking of you both at this time.
-
Hey Electrawoman, your dog eats better than me! Can I come and live at your house
-
So sorry for your loss. She will be running free with the other old Mudgee dogs - her friends.
-
So sorry for your loss Rozzie. There are a few old Mudgee dogs up at the Bridge now, sadly RIP Steven

To save you the bother I found a fence didn't work - he just jumped over it. I tent pegged plastic coated wire over the garden bed and gave up growing plants in between the shrubs. All I can suggest is more toys like a kong, huge bones, heaps of exercise. I have never had any luck with garden deterrents but have been hesitant to use some of them because of safety issues, eg moth balls. Usually it is just a stage and they grow out of it but there are the exceptions, of course!

That's great news. Fingers crossed she keeps it up!

Hi Rozzie My old girl was having renal problems which affected her gums (they bled terribly), which then affected her appetitite. A course of clavulox and some prednisone worked wonders and gave her back her quality of life for just that bit longer. Good luck with her.

Where Do You Wash Your Dogs?

My own hydrobath for ACD and laundry tub for Shih Tzu. -
Both of these clipper sets are only for touch-ups for pet owners. You need something with more grunt and stamina!
