  1. Woops! how dumb am I!!!!! .....one of the fat quarters I ordered on-line came yesterday and I thought it would get to SBT303 late so I sent it express post. I must keep telling myself that the 7 in... 7/7/10 means July, not June. Thanks Snowysal for your polite way of telling me (quote Since we have a whole nother MONTH) O well, I can now do some more with applique.
  2. Hey! this happy little sweetie really cracked me up...must be the tongue! she really lived to a ripe old age, RIP little one http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06...?section=justin
  3. Thanks for the update Toohey, it's good to hear that Jed is improving. Jed...cry as much as you like, we are all with you (just check out the crowd of us that are in the waiting room), which reminds me...you may be interested to know a furniture truck delivered several sofas, soft chairs and tables for the food and drinks that magically keep appearing. Still need more room as the dogs and cats are taking over the furniture and us peoples are sitting and lying on the floor, (playing with afore-mentioned dogs and cats) Blue sky here and a cold wind...bit wintery in fact!
  4. sent mine off with the post today, my friend appliqued some Westies and Scotties onto some of the plain material I bought (from the Church Ladies for $2), she is sooooo good at doing stuff like that. (I did the cutting out ) I hope it gets to SBT303's place on time.
  5. Not dogs, but these poor little tackers, how cold and frightened they must have been.... (check the two photos) http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/03/2916716.htm
  6. Hi Showdog,...yep, I was thinking that very thing myself! (after reading the shampoo bottle that said Stripping Shampoo!) Penny and Mac (being 10 and 12) don't take kindly to being stripped (tried it a couple of times and they cry), one needs to start stripping as a pup for it to be successful I reckon. Never mind, I'll bath them today and maybe they won't be too soft (I hope)
  7. Good Morning Jed, it's pretty here this morning, the clouds are pink, white and grey and the paperbark trees are all shiny in the sun. The curlews are hiding this morning but the plovers are making a fuss (again!) and there are two pardelot's near the clay heap. (there is also a rather loud cockatoo!) I'll just grab a couple of those warm wholemeal rolls and a cuppa and park my bum between the lovely Borzoi and that gentle looking Italian Greyhound. Soft-Westie kisses for you from the Little-Guys.
  8. Well, I received the SHC-Laser-Lites36 Stripping Shampoo as well as a 300ml of detangler spray by Coat Handler (was reccommended by Jillian (Canine Equipment at Carina), she was the only firm that answered my emails! 1L of shampoo is $18.50 (and you dilute it 100-1) so it is pretty economical. The detangler is $19.75 It's raining here today so it'll be bath-time tomorrow, 3 stinkin' Westies here! I will let you know what the products are like.
  9. 'Mornin Jed, back from walking the crew...overcast and some misty-drizzley-stuff. The Bay is all shrouded in mist and very calm, there are bee-birds singing out on the power lines and the usual bunch of curlews are trying to be like fallen tree branches and hoping I won't notice them (silly buggers...you can FEEL them looking at you!) Hoping you are feeling a tad better this morning.
  10. hahaha cannibalgoldfish, my lot would think someone was probably coming in to give them food and show them where the fridge is
  11. Popping in again to say Hi to you Jed and to give the hot chokkie to Bilbo Baggins...sorry it's late but had run out of that yummy Mozer chocolate from Aldi so had to nip in to purchase a carton or two. Here's ya cup-o-choc Bilbo Baggins see, I didn't even spill it, (a wonder as there is so many dogs lazing on the floor watching David Attenborough on tv)
  12. Coffee anyone? there is more, just shout out and another cup will appear. Good morning Jed, another baby step today? hang in there.
  13. Hi Minky, if you post this message on the Westie thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...191&st=2050 one of the posters should be able to help, AND we will want to know ALL ABOUT your Westie as well
  14. Mornin' Jed, Just popping in with a HUGE CWA-type teapot full of Earl Grey tea, cups and toast for all those guys that have been here all night. treats for the dogs as well. If someone would remove the sleepy cats chis, cavs & cairn off the table I will set it all down. Just watch the St Bernard and Akita that are eyeing everything off from the vantage point under the table as well...they are well-known toast-grabbers. Be well Jed. edited to fix spellin'
  15. Yippeeeeeee!, I don't have to hem them pesky little squares. The ladies at the Russell Island Church have a clothes/brick-a-brack sale here every Saturday, they also have pieces of new material so I will buy (probably a dollar a piece!...O NO, that price is just too high! ) some to go amongst the more decorative squares to set them off. I'm all fired up now!
  16. I now have my material. As a COMPLETE novice could someone please tell me...after I have washed the material, do I stitch a special backing onto each 6 1/2" piece OR do I just hem each piece then send it to SBT303. Thanks
  17. OK, now I am all keen...found out there is a craft group nearby so I well ask the ladies to help me make some squares out of this material I saw on ebay (I hope it is ok to put the link in) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JAPANESE-RETRO-KAWA...=item1c0a7d5253 Hahaha...it has Westies on it...NO ONE ELSE BUY THIS OR YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE! there is another good design ebay # 120457634054 there are also some on oztion http://www.oztion.com.au/buy/auctions.aspx...amp;i=30&d= Do I put the backing on the squares after I have washed the material and make/hem it so it is 6 1/2" square?
  18. I think it is a great idea. It wouldn't have to be anything fancy but will carry the thoughts of us all. I think that is a good idea Anna...I can't sew to save myself but could probably make a couple of squares if I had the INSTRUCTIONS/A MAP/HOW-TO-DIRECTIONS/PATTERNS FOR QUILT-MAKING-DUMMIES
  19. Thanks for the info poodlefan and oakway, I had another look on-line...Googled 'shampoo for wire coats' this time instead of shampoo for WHW terriers, there were a few sites but so far this one seems interesting http://www.laserlites.com.au/coattype3.shtml I have emailed a couple of their distributors to find postage costs, their product is reasonable enough.
  20. Hahaha..clicked on that link and had a heart attack!
  21. The dogs are starting to get pretty dirty again (we live on a dirt road so it's hard to keep them clean) so it's coming up for their 3-4 monthly bath. What shampoo is good for Westies?, I want some ideas on a shampoo that WON'T make their hair soft. I need the shampoo to clean the hair but leave it feeling nice an coarse. I don't strip them, just clip, so it is pretty hard to get the same bristley feel to them when clipping. Any ideas would be appreciated Thanks
  22. A few years back I ONCE bought chicken mince for my old dog Harry...considering he would eat possum poop, rotten eggs (he found an old chook nest!) and anything else that may look like food I was surprised when he wouldn't touch the mince. I smelt it and it stunk of chlorine bleach, I was pretty disapointed as I had to chuck it all out. here is a link on an old DOL forum.... http://www.dolforums.com.au/lofiversion/in...hp/t118128.html I tend to buy Ingams turkey mince at the poultry section of Woollies now.
  23. makes you smile though ...(right click then click 'open' it'll be easier to see)
