Yeah, and probably much more pleasant near his willie than vodka!

I think the green ant is this one.... http://cms.jcu.edu.au/discovernature/misc/JCUPRD_025038 I always thought it bit but it appears to sting. Regarding the onion for sandfly/midges, we went camping at Poona (on the coast between Tin Can Bay and Maryborough) one time, and were nearly carried away with the midges, one of the other campers said that onion rubbed on the bites was good AND IT IS!!!! it takes away the itch nearly straight away. Edited to add... iggy mum...thanks for the link though it is to the really mean North Qld green ant, the one we have here in SE Qld is smaller and lives in the ground under bark (and garden mulch!) and nips out with it's mates when you least expect it and bites you on tender places

You could try a piece of onion...cut it (the onion I mean ) and rub it onto the bite so the juice covers the bite. This remedy also works on bee and wasp stings as well as sandfly (midge) bites. I use it when the dogs (or us) get bitten by those mongrel green ants..they really hurt!

Glad he got the bandage off Wire...I was going to suggest saturating the bandage with vodka (info from my book on household hints) but as it is near his willie perhaps it's not such a good idea...ouch

Hello, I have posted question this in the Marketplace forum but no replies...hope it's OK to post this question here... I have placed a for sale ad in the For Sale section..Dog Runs,Crates, Trolleys (it is not up yet)...well, how do I put in a photo of the crates I have for sale? There doesen't appear to be an 'upload photo' section. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction...do I need to wait until it is approved before I can upload a photo? thank you

I am with Bow Wow Meow and have found them really good (sorry RottyLover01, I know now you have had dramas with them) ...Penny got a pig knuckle stuck in her oesophagus last year and according to the policy (I only have accident for Penny and Mac as they are over 8) they cover for that problem. I paid the vet and sent all the veterinary invoices to them along with their claim form and I had the money (less $100 no claim thingo) in my account within ten days. I had only been insured with them about six weeks so I was pretty impressed. No whinges from me as I was pretty happy that at least I could find an insurance company that would insure older dogs even though it is only for accidents. I also have RACQ (it is added on as an extra to the house and contents insurance) as a back-up for sickness though they only cover up to $450 but it is a help. I have an idea that NRMA may also cover pets for a similar coverage.

I had been looking (drooling) at those collars Sue Brown except that buying 3 of them is equal to heaps of chicken wings and BARF do food...I also saw this one which is a bit cheaper...http://www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.php/products_id/1870. Thanks for the tip on the dog shop people/puppy/breeder-advertisers (they did look cheap didn't they!) I will contact Huga and see if she can help also I may go and re-check the link Tilly posted..they were pretty neat!

perhaps they will think seriously about fencing their yard after this http://www.gympietimes.com.au/story/2010/0...psy-heads-home/

Hello All, I want to buy some tartan dog collars for the little guys. I came across a site..'It's A dog Shop' they have some tartan collars but I also noticed they had a link "Like to buy a new Puppy...click here to check out our breeders section" Is this on-line store similar to the brick & mortar pet shops that sell puppies? (you know, the ones we don't support) Some advice would be helpful, thanks
-
A good news story...pity the collar and tag she had on wasn't hers! http://www.gympietimes.com.au/story/2010/0...beats-the-odds/

If you go to http://www.petsure.com.au/ they have 12 different pet insurances listed. They are all owned by the same underwriter (I think I have that right) but the costs are different with each of the companies listed If you click on each of them you will find that most have a section that will give you a quote on-line.

thanks for that Sue & Cindy, I couldn't figure out how to post a link after a friend sent me the video in an email...I got a bit confused edited as I can't spell either!

You may have seen this short video before but it's still pretty good! (I hope the link works) ultimate_back_scratcher.wmv I can't get the link to work, never mind, just Google it...it's the one that says '30 sec - 14 Nov 2007' and it has 5 stars

Is It Right To Change A 7 Yr Old Dogs Name?
Boronia replied to Chocolate's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just got a 7 year old female Westie called Brodie, none of us really like the name, we were going to change it to Maisie but it has ended up being Daisy. She comes when we call 'Hey Dog, Yoo Hoo, Oi, so obviously she is going to come when Daisy (or Maisie) is called. Pity I still haven't managed to get her to know the the meaning of word 'sit' yet! -
Bladder Issues - Any Suggestions Appreciated
Boronia replied to Pugmum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
That's bad news Pugmum. I am not a pushy-natural-remedies-type-person all the time and I am pretty pro antibiotics/cortisone/modern drugs when required but it maybe worth your time to Google the words "Herb Robert for bladder cancer". It may help. -
Well I know that NOW Showdog I got lazy one time and gave them a brush and thought they could do with a 'bit' of a trim but got carried away! hahaha, be sure your sins will find you out! I won't be doing that dumb thing again.
-
Thanks Poodle3081, I have sent the blades off to Colin and also emailed him for his advice when he looks at them. My westies were rescue westies and I don't 'strip' them, just clip, so their hair is not as coarse as the stripped westies, though not soft like a maltese or cavalier, (I like the wiry feel of westies) I don't use conditioners or bathe them very regularly so they don't have really soft hair.
-
Hi Clyde, hahaha...I had just finished packing the blades in bubble wrap ready to post to Nicestman when I saw your post, so thanks for the recommendation!
-
Hi there Boronia,if the blade cut first of when you got the clipper with the same blades, and you have clippered a few coats,it is most likely they need a touch-up. When using the plastic combs it is best to use a number #30 blade, the fur doesn't get between the blade and comb so easy. Below is some info on the correct blades required to do Bishons,I hope this helped you. nicestman77. BICHON "Show" trim, 1" coat #30 & 1 1/4" UC Pet trim, short #4F Matted strip down #7F or #5F Stomach #10 Pads #15 Hello nicestman77, thanks for the info, now could you give me the run-down for Westies..pet trim (I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my post, I meant I'd bought them from a Biche-person and I am a Westie-person) I would need the sizes for their short bits and long bits. Am I correct in thinking that the black comb-like thingos are called 'blades' Does it matter what the teeth (silver cutting teeth) are? mine have 30-15-10 engraved in them. Can you suggest a person I can send the cutting teeth to...would they sharpen them without having to send the whole handset. That may do with the 20 questions at the moment!
-
I am pretty sure the reason my clippers are not cutting is that either they are blunt and need the blades sharpened, or, they have the wrong blades. I originally bought them from ebay and the previous owner had a Bichon Frise. They worked sort-of ok at first but hardly cut at all now even if I change the black-comb-like-sizing-depth-thingos (well, what are they called? ) They appear to be adjusted correctly. If I removed the teeth/cutter-bars and sent them to a clipper sharpener person, can you suggest someone who doesn't charge an arm and a leg to sharpen them. Hope someone can help, thanks.
