  1. and if you didn't know that Daddy was a softie you would be pretty worried with this photo! http://www.ryanmcdaniel.me/page19/files/pi...ucybigdaddy.jpg
  2. There are some pretty good photos here... http://images.google.com.au/images?client=...ved=0CCIQsAQwBQ
  3. Dog rescued 2km out to sea http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2010/02/1...local-news.html
  4. Sandgrubber, you may find this interesting http://gabbylewis.vox.com/library/posts/tags/charity/ it includes this paragraph... 'BAWA have received 75,000 rabies vaccines donated by the Australian Government at a cost of about $1.80 each which they are using to protect Ubud’s dogs and monkeys'. There is a paragraph as well about Bali rabies in the following link http://www.vetsbeyondborders.org/
  5. A disease spread by dog bites has killed 25 people in Bali, prompting calls for a mass animal vaccination. http://www.abc.net.au/news/video/2010/02/16/2821120.htm
  6. That is good news that her ear infection has cleared up. I didn't have any drops left when Penny developed one of her recurring ear infections and was unable to get to the vet quickly, a friend gave me a tube of Kenacomb ointment and I put a little smear on the inside if her ear (not into the canal itself, only on the inside of the sticky-up-part of her ear) and it cleared it up in no-time. It hasn't recurred so far and that was 7 weeks ago. It also helped when she developed a small hot-spot near her bum. Hopefully my using the Kenacomb was not harmful to her, but at least it fixed the problem. Maybe some of the other posters may know of any side affects in using this product. Also check that you don't have ANY Wandering Jew at you place, dogs love to lie on it as it is cool...here is a link with pictures that may help identify it http://www.nqccs.com.au/library/weeds/wandering_jew.pdf
  7. With every papered (more expensive DD's come with a copy of the Financial Review newspaper) green and pink agility dog you receive a number plate surround...... ................................. Be careful when you breed the pink and green pseudodoodleoodles the litter will be brown...not a good shade for future-sales
  8. This herb helped Penny, she was prone to kidney stones, no problems since I have been giving her 3 leaves in her food, twice per day... http://www.herbs2000.com/herbs/herbs_pellitory_wall.htm you can get the seeds from http://www.herbsarespecial.com.au/contact_us.html or google for other seed suppliers who may have some in stock. Hope this helps. :D
  9. I'll thank you not to suggest my future imported husband has a nasty disease or rabies, perhaps you would know how long customs would impound future husbands?
  10. Brooke...be careful in what you are buying from your Cameroon Priest, I have heard he is selling an insect eating pseudo-doodle/oodles rather than the pedigree variety...the one that may arrive on your mother's doorstep (after you paid via Western Onion) COULD like this.... not much good as a protector of the family unless there is an attack by a flock of stick-insects
  11. No Jed, of course ALL of them aren't my husbands!, either one of these two COULD be tho'. I met them on their way back from Obedience Training, they were preparing them for Mothers' Day.They said were ropeable that they had bought their doggies as doodle/oodles designer mutts from Deshonko and Shonkypaws. They bought the leads on ebay, they are the Nigerian-Retractable-Leads
  12. Hi, browsing the Trading post and saw this...not much use to me as I am in Qld, but maybe some of the stuff would interest Melbourne-people...I hope it is OK to post the link.... http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Pets-Horses/...ue&AdOnTop=
  13. or perhaps we could even get a breeding pair!
  14. Do you think this one may be a bit over the top protection-wise for mothers day?
  15. A friend told me about this Greyhound and then emailed me the link. Perhaps it has been featured on DOL before but still a good news story. http://feathered-and-furry.com/jasmine-and...life-sanctuary/
  16. Hi CruiseNRoxie I bought one of these from Deals Direct in October (it was really cheap, around $55 I think, they must have made a mistake with the price!) http://au.shopping.com/xCC-air_bed-soothsoft Penny took a while to get used to it, I had to put a towel on it for a week or two. She likes it now and goes on it readily on hot days. I bought a medium one thinking Mac could fit on it as well but he didn't want to share so I bought one of these from Crazy Sales for $24.97 incl freight and he thinks it is a bit of alright! Crazy sales don't have them any more but here is one the same on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Medium-Sized-Pets-C...=item5ad60f12a0 That little bed you are looking at seems Ok though, for that price it may be worth a go.
  17. These two links may be of help http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healt...une-System.aspx http://probiotics.mercola.com/probiotics-for-pets.html Hope you can get her back to health soon.
  18. Had to add this beautiful picture of a DDB....
  19. ...had to add this, in the 'dogpile' search, under the result I suggested you click on, is your request, and further down is a result "Literature", click on this one, it is a charming page, great pictures
  20. Google "Dogpile" then 'The Saga of the Dogue De Bordeaux: From the Antique Molossus to the Modern Dogue by Raymond Triquet' into the search box..one of the results is 'Our Collection of Books'..click this and go to the 'order section' this should take you to an intro page, go to the bottom and the next page should be the order page. I have put the link here (it's probably not in English though maybe it doesn't matter!) http://members.chello.nl/~r.beijerinck/Sag...e/formulier.htm
  21. This poor man has now lost his little mate, where were the dogs owners when this happened? http://www.baysidebulletin.com.au/news/loc...ck/1742783.aspx
  22. OK...I give in.... ....I have bought the medium furminator $18.95 with free postage (goodie!) from a person on Oztion Auctions, for that price I will give it a go. Thanks for your post Tiffany Amber, if it's not much good I can give it to Mary... I am minding her little westie/malteezer, Rosie, while she is in Africa. I'll let you guys know how it goes on the little guys.
  23. Thanks for the offer Cockerlover, I will find out more info about the Coat King from some westie people but I think I will stick with the rake and the comb as Crazy Daisy suggested as it seems to get out most of the fine fluffy stuff, I just have to keep at it...every two days instead of three days now I reckon. The little guys don't get a bath very often, I take them for a paddle, then get them have a little swim which they don't like much unless the day has been really hot and the water is really warm...(they originated in Scotland for Heavens sake, what big girls blouses they are!), they get a rinse when they get home and a towel dry and brush ...do you think that I should get a hair-dryer, does it make brushing easier?
  24. Thanks for your replies, it seems that for low shedding dogs it may not be suitable, I'll keep an eye on this thread tho' in case someone comes on and reckons they are great for westies...maybe the rake and comb are all I need after all!
  25. I have been reading about the furminator and wondered if it would be suitable for the Westies. They don't shed much, but when I brush and comb them there is usually the fluffy under-hair in the brush. I have tried a rake and they like that, (their hair is pretty thick on their shoulders and haunches) the rake seems to get that fluffy-shed-hair out OK but I thought maybe I should get a Furminator as well (there is a medium one on Oztion for $18.95...free postage, 10 available). Your advice would be appreciated, thank you
