You are one brave, tough woman PA. Not many people would write what you have just written. Keep up the good fight against your ED and love to the 4-legged ones. .

http://www.abc.net.au/local/photos/2012/06/11/3522577.htm?site&xml=3522577-mediarss.xml#bigpicturepos click on the link as there are heaps of great photos I like David Edgecombe and Peg from Adelaide best :-) The Australian working dog muster brings breeders, farmers and dog-lovers together each year in the south-west Victorian town of Casterton. The town on the banks of the Glenelg River claims to be the birthplace of the kelpie breed. Novelty events include dog most like its owner, egg and spoon race and the fattest dog. But serious competitors have come from far and wide to compete in working dog trials and the triathlon; made up of the kelpie dash, high jump and hill climb. If triathlon winner Mack wasn't competing on the track or barking with excitement from the sidelines, you could find him in the arms of owner, Tony Wilson, from Balliang, in Victoria. Maybe the extra cuddles gave this sheep dog the competitive edge to win the muster triathlon, concluding with the hill climb - where dogs individually sprint to their owner calling them from the top of the hill. "He travels in the front seat of a ute, he sleeps indoors in the house. He is very, very well looked after," Tony says. Although Mack won the high jump in 2009 and 2010 and was last year's triathlon runner up, Tony says he's surprised at how well he did. "Mack's excited because he gets more attention." The high jump is the obvious festival favourite. Gippsland man Hugh Mawhinney's dog George placed first, clearing a height of 2.72m. "It's natural ability, we didn't have to teach him. We had him in the hay shed, he jumped a few bails of hay and the rest he's done all by himself," Hugh says. The record remains with breeder Claire O'Callaghan and her dog Riley, who jumped 2.91m in 2007. While some leave Casterton once the competitions are over, others are getting ready to do business. The festival auction attracts people in search of the best young working dog around. Ross Fletcher travelled 1,600kms from Walcha in northern New South Wales to find a dog ready to work with his 5,500 fine wool merino sheep. "I'm looking for dogs to better our dogs at home, and looking at dogs for a neighbour," he says. "I want a dog for immediate work, so I'm going to need to have pretty deep pockets I think." The auction record was set this year with a two-year-old kelpie from Tasmania which sold for $12,000. Listen to the audio for more from the 2012 Australian Kelpie Muster.

It may be worth your while to email them on a Yahoo/Hotmail/GMail account and say that you live in Townsville or Darwin or somewher remote to the sellers location, and ask if you can make arrangements to fly the pup to you...this usually brings out the scammers (if they are a scammer) as the idea is to get your money for the transport (usually through Cameroon Airways)

Penny (14) and Mac (12) both do the feet wiping after a poo or a pee. They do the feet-wipe with gusto and glee! Penny likes to do her toileting on a ledge, rock or pot plant

What Dry Food Would You Recommend?
Boronia replied to rusty&biscuit's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My little guys liked the Catch of the Wild salmon, but, I don't think I'll continue feeding it to them as they really ponged. They were getting it for tea (breakfast being their minced turkey necks and raw vegie slops). Man did they stink. Mac has also turned an orangey-brown colour also  -
Hi D_mentias, you could contact the lovely woman, Lisa Jones, Curator, Queensland Police Museum. I contacted her to ask if I could post (another article) from the QPS Museum on DOL. She may have other info and photos about Murrays. Worth a go. Here is their/her email address: [email protected]

After the Qld Local Government elections means we have a (nearly) new council here. They will be discussing a new Animal Management plan and I would like to put forward some proposals on a fair plan for owners and Council (as they need to cover their costs) for the dog ownership part of the plan Some input would be great, I was thinking along the lines of: Free registration for desexed/microchipped dogs (Gympie has this) A fair cost for a third dog...perhaps a home check re size of dog(s)to area Provisions for fostering (I have no idea what would be involved...need ideas) Fair costs for breeders of registered pedigree dogs...this could be the numbers of dogs kept. Reduced registration for different levels of obedience/agility or similar As you see from the above I have very little idea, but as the previous Council appeared to be anti-dog (especially for registered breeders of pedigree dogs) I feel that a letter to the Mayor, CEO and councillors can only do some good in addressing the previous councils omissions. So if anyone has some good ideas on what you would like for a council to implement can you post them please...especially breeders and foster carers. Thanks :-)

I can't select any of the options. My dogs don't have access to food all day, they don't fuss to get food, affection is not demonstrated through treats, and they don't get table scraps. They get food as a routine and have to sit politely for it. Yes, that is the question that doesn't give enough options. There should have been a section for 'not many treats, just raw diet' or similar

Need Advice About Potentially Giving A Home To A Rescue
Boronia replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oi Westiemum...I am 60 and could run rings round those fat 20 year-olds I see pushing trolleys of chips, coke and biscuits at the local IGA  -
I feed raw and dry equally so answered dry but it did make me wonder if the researcher was in fact a dog owner. Yep, same here...no box to tick if you feed raw and the question about what type of feeding your dog only gives the options of treats. I didn't see a box on a healthy type treat like a bone or carrot or banana. It is a stupid questionnaire and made me cross :-D

Shar Pei - Tracking Down Previous Breeder
Boronia replied to selkii's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't know if these links will be of help but maybe you could contact the owners of the dogs featured and ask if they have the contact details for the Dahlet breeder. http://www.eliterolys.com/dog.asp?dog=5812 and scroll down to: Dam:AUST.GRAND.CH.Dahlet Minni Maus.Owned by: Stacey White. here: http://www.silkston2000.com/thepastsharpei.cfm may be a lead anyway :-) -

Some good piccies in the link. http://qpsmedia.govspace.gov.au/2012/05/23/yourservice-cairns-flying-dog-squad/ Cairns Dog Squad recently took to the skies in as part of their ongoing training. The squad familiarised the dogs with the EMQ helicopter to get them used to the noise and downdraft of rotors. The team perform ongoing training exercises in and around the Cairns area with other police and emergency services personnel to ensure skills are at an optimum level. Police Dogs Vader, Xander and Kasey and their handlers took to the new training like ducks to water and obviously enjoyed the new experience. The dogs are regularly trained in searches and tracking work and even rappelled off the Barron River Bridge recently.

It is good news that he is still with you K9. Lots of warmth and a full tum is more important at the moment (before he goes to the vet I mean) He looks a sweetie.
