You may be interested in this DOL topic started by BMAK, about the dog eating poo. I remembered someone suggested feeding pineapple so did a search http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/214398-eating-dog-poo/page__st__10__p__5183960__hl__pineapple__fromsearch__1#entry5183960

I think the thought of dogs just eating meat is very primal....dogs have access to every food under the sun now... back in the day im not so sure they had ready access to carrots and pears :) meat would be the only thing running around.... I think this thread confirms that dogs like fruits and veggies a lot more then we do!! Dr.Ian Billinghurst, who wrote "Give Your Dog A Bone", says that wild dogs would consume the stomach contents of their kills, thus getting vegetables. As does Dr Bruce Syme of VAN. Yet there are also many wolf and canine experts that state that dogs/wolves leave the vegetation in their stomach and intestines alone. To each his own, but I would be inclined to believe the latter. I had a bitch who was an inveterate rabbit hunter & I can assure you that she ate the WHOLE rabbit, stomach contents & all My dogs (and cat) eat whole prey too, with my cat eating up to 70% whole prey these days. Usually the smaller prey animals will be eaten whole, like the mice, quail, chicks and rats my kitten gets. My dogs leave the stomach and intestines of whole prey for me to clear up. Sometimes they eat them, but they don't usually do. Rabbits will usually be eaten whole by wolves, unlike larger prey like cows and sheep. I agree that wolves and dogs in the past wouldn't have gotten such a variety of diet. That's precisely what the prey model is trying to replicate. Dogs are opportunistic hunters, so they will eat poop, someone else's garbage and gorge on grass until they vomit. Doesn't mean that they need poop in their diet do they. Perhaps try finding videos of wolves where they show them shaking out the vegetation before consuming the stomach. There are plenty. Because we all know dogs are foxes now. That's a new one. I Googled this...may be untrue as it is from Answers/Wikianswers http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Are_dogs_related_to_foxes and this link gives more info--> http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080324161252AAkZ0OD

I forgot to add that Mac likes the tomatoes that have gone rotten but are still hanging on the vine like small water-filled balloons. He delicately picks one off, holds it in his mouth and bites down gently to release the stinkin' pulp. He closes his eyes with bliss as he does this.

Yep, good aye :D

I have just copied the stuff written in the bar (URL bar?)..(I was copying the image before) into the Testing Forum and the photo is larger...I'll try to put it in my siggy now.
-
Hi K9angel, I have replied to your message, this is what I wrote: I can copy the photo but it won't allow me to paste. I also tried to do it in the 'Testing Forum' but I can't paste in there either. The Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, words on the mouse right click are greyed out. If it is a line of text I have copied I can paste that, but not the image or even the image from Marion's email that I have saved to desktop or the image I have inserted in an 'Office' document.
-
I have emailed you k9angel as there is no way in this wide world that I can put that piccie in the PM me box...I don't know how ...I have asked if you can send me your email address so I can forward Marion's email to you

Marion 01 has made me a siggy but it needs to be longer and a little deeper. I had uploaded her picture (a big one and the final edited one) into Photobucket but even if I make the edited one bigger (it looses its clarity though) and save it, it will go back to the size you see in my siggy below. I did email Troy with the problem, had this answer.... Just checking that when you uploaded it (the edited version) to photobucket, you didn’t tick any option to reduce the size and when you are linking to it from photobucket, you are linking to the full sized image? I emailed back saying that I had used the edited photo and asked if I should have used the unedited/bigger sized photo, Troy answered...No the smaller one should be the correct one as long as when you upload it, photobucket doesn’t reduce it in size further. I am not sure if there is an option when you upload it to preserve the size/dimensions? Can anyone help? I can't believe it should be this hard, my brains are hurting

I reckon :-D

ok, thank you heaps. it is pretty good Marion now the next big challenge/problem is getting it longer and deeper.

Penny taking it easy after rearranging the sofa cushions

Mine eat just about anything and I wish Mac would stop picking the ripe strawberries out of the garden

Yep, this is Grumpy's dinner-time choices

I would like that Marion 01, it is just the nomination thingo that Julie emailed to me that I'd like as a siggy, I would like it about 10mm in diameter. I could also send you some photos of the little guys to add to the siggy if that would look good as well. How do I go about sending/forwarding you the email (with the attachment) that Julie sent?
-
okey dokey :-)
-
It is sill a bit big but I can't seem to get it any smaller as the dot between the two snow covered mountains is on the setting next to the smallest mountain, it seems as though it will not go any smaller, which is a bit of a bugger.
-
Thanks for that, that works BUT the image I was going to use is too big in size (it does appear in my siggy-section but it is BIG) I have tried to resize it in Photobucket but the 'preset sizes' dropdown box is blank and if I use the size-box nothing happens to the image at all. (it is my MDBA Nominee image...I want it a smaller size than the one Julie emailed to me...that one is a little in-your-face :-D )
-
I went to my 'Profile' and clicked on 'Change Signature'...that is blank as I don't have a siggy at the moment. I can't do a cut and paste as the paste box is grayed out and there is no 'browse/upload' button to allow me to look/get for my photo. I did edit the photo in Photobucket and then copied the HTML link, but when I pasted that link into the 'Edit your Signature' box the result is lines of letter and numbers (HTML code), not the photo. I have no idea what to do :-D

LabTested posted a topic about the little Tamarind monkeys that were stolen in October 2010. Well here is an update: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-01-23/miracle-monkey-gives-birth-after-2010-theft/3788834 (lovely photo :) ) A tiny rare monkey that was stolen from a Brisbane zoo has become a mother for the first time. Conchetta, a cotton-top tamarin, and her breeding partner Tonto were stolen from Alma Park in late 2010. Tonto was found dead and Conchetta, now aged 12, was handed in to a zoo south of Sydney four months later. Alma Park head keeper Alison Wright says it was initially believed Conchetta may have missed her chance to be a mother. "Normally with cotton tops they'll start breeding around five or six so she is a little bit of an older mother but she is doing really well," she said. Alma Park curator Dr Heather Hesterman says the birth is "fantastic news". "We're so excited," she said. "The birth of this baby not only represents something quite incredible for Conchetta, who's been through a massive ordeal in the past, but it also is a big boost to the Australasian population. "She is actually the number one ranked breeding female throughout all of Australasia and there is only around about 100 cotton tops left in captivity." Of those cotton tops left in captivity, only three babies were born last year. Now, Conchetta and her new mate Manny could bread again before the year is out. Conchetta was also pregnant in October 2010 when she and her breeding partner were stolen. It is believed offenders cut their way into Alma Park Zoo and took the tiny cotton-top tamarins - a small monkey found in Central and South America. At the time, zoo keepers said Conchetta may have been expecting twins, but that she was likely to miscarry due to the ordeal. Tonto was found dead in a backyard near the zoo after a pet dog alerted it to the homeowners. Zoo keepers believed there had been a struggle with his captor, as the tiny tamarin was missing large clumps of fur. Conchetta was thought to be having twins again this time, as her weight reached a heavy 400 grams, but zoo staff were pleased with just the one. "It's ended up being one enormous baby and we're thrilled to bits." The baby's gender will not be known for months.

Fishballs and kibble...yum

How did you go drying the fish Sheridan? It may be an idea to buy some shark/hoki next time, slice it up dry it, at least there won't be bones.
-
buy a pair of this type of forceps, the curve at the tip is useful for sliding between the tick and the dog's skin. Make sure that you grip really firmly as some of the ticks are really stuck in

Sorry to hear that Boronia. It does state on the bottle not recommended for animals undergoing treatment for Hyperthyroidism. Mine, I have to say are all thriving and NO teeth cleaning has taken place for months now. I don't know if he has hyperthroidism, I am just grasping at straws that the Proden may be the cause of his weight-loss. If I stop his daily dose and he regains weight I am not going to know if it is the Proden or the antibiotics...I could wait a month or two I suppose and try him on 1/2 the daily dose.
