  1. Perthies who buy Coprice... just make sure you check the contents. I went to a few different supply stores yesterday and ALL the Coprice that was in stock had flour moths/lavae (the lavae is quite hard to see if you aren't looking for it) through it . I rang a couple of other places NOR and got them to check before I drove to them, they had the problem too.
  2. Willow - If you are chasing Coprice in NOR Perth, I know that Joondalup Better Pets & Gardens sorry I meant Petstock have it in stock as does City Barn in Malaga on Beach Road (ex City Farmers) A few years ago, we were struggling and I fed Woofbix for a while... the dogs were fine on it. I'm about to trial Coprice myself on recommendation of my breeder ETA: I got the store name incorrect
  3. It's called life with a crazy GSP :mad but I would not have it any other way I sooo understand that crazy life I better send my two in for some programming too.
  4. I use RC puppy here for Ollie, but it is getting to be a bit small for throwing. I've found he goes nuts for carrot tho, so have been using that a bit, as well as 4 legs.
  5. Crud... wish I had enough funds in the kitty for a flight over east right now
  6. Raz- The green one took about 3-4 hours to decorate not including drying time for flowers/icing or the actual making of the cake itself or royal icing etc. Miss Monster - Can you PM me your e-mail address? I'll scan the recipe for white choc mousse and peach cake.
  7. Nah, just a self-taught hobby. These were cakes made for family & friends. This one is really small.. about 10cm across. Inside is a white malibu mudcake. and technically these are considered 'food'
  8. Clever idea with the ice-cubes Miss B! Hehe.. that cake is long gone, fed 40 people (it's a lot bigger than the photo makes it look) and yes, I did make it - everything on the cake was edible.
  9. White Chocolate Mousse and Peach Cake Caramel Mud Cake with plums and white chocolate Chocolate Kalhua Mud Cake
  10. Tell me about it! and this isn't the first time I've gone through gundog adolescence!
  11. wow... thanks for sharing that link. That was really special to watch, even my OH really enjoyed it (and he's not really a 'doggy' person).
  12. Not Balcatta Vet... I had Chelsea done there and whilst she coped great with the anethesia and the staff seemed really friendly, caring and nice... the scar she was left with was really bad and the job looked like it had been done by a home handyman Victoria Park Vets on Somerset St are really lovely and always happy to listen to owners concerns, but never had a female desexed there. You've probably heard wonderful things about Applecross Vet if you've been reading these forums for a while, but not sure if that is maybe too far to travel for you.
  13. I allow my dogs to dig in one area of the garden (in a shady spot under a tree), some people use clam shells for this... the rest of the yard is 'off limits' to digging. My 10 month GSP still has the occasional dig, but any holes I find I fill with dog poo and fill back in - he never digs there again!
  14. ahhhh... recall... like Huski, it is the bane of my life at the moment. It is probably the most important command yet so many have dramas getting it 100%; and unless it is 100% the dog should not be offlead. If food isn't their 'thing' under distraction, you could try a favourite toy - I'm finding a Cuz ball is working really well to get attention as the sqeak is really enticing to my two. You could also try running away from them, this may make them chase you. An e-collar is also an option worth investigating and most people have great results - you'll need a professional trainer to guide you on it's correct use tho. If you run a search in this training forum you'll come across some good threads. Otherwise, keep practising with a long line until they understand that when you say 'come' it is non-negotiable. and NEVER call your dog to do something it doesn't like (like a bath or whatever) - go get your dog to do these things.
  15. HAve a read of the article that was just posted by luvsdogs... I had Chelsea done at 2 years of age - she was main register and we decided against breeding from her (she excellent hip/elbow scores etc). She wasn't messy when on heat at all, the odd drop of blood here or there. We kept her isnide we weren't home as we don't have a run, which may not be for everyone. If she was limited, she would have been done at around 12 months-ish. My vet has supported this.
  16. Does anyone know if either of these foods are available in Perth anywhere? or can someone give me links to online shops that sell it (not sure if postage costs are going to be huge?) Thanks!
  17. You would have saved a fair bit of money if you bought the heartworm meds online and gotten the vet to write out a prescription for the pills and got them at your local chemist. As suggested, do have a bit of an online search for heartworm meds... they are substatially cheaper online (even factoring postage!) I know what you mean tho... going to the vet is more expensive the going to the Doctor! However, I've not seen many (any!) vets driving around in fancy cars and living in massive mansions (unlike quite a few human doctors), so I'm guessing that their own running costs must be very high; which they would have to pass onto the customer.
  18. Soft Play Mulch as far as I am aware is just pure pine mulch processed to a size suitable to use as cushioning for kids play areas. It would have to be non-toxic if approved for playground use in childrens areas. You would be best to ring the mulch supplier and ask what is in the mulch. It's all guesswork for us as we don't really know what is in it.
  19. That's pretty much what I've had with both my two GSP's... they do grow up... eventually, and you are right in saying that it can be a bit exasperating! They stay overgrown puppies for a loooong time; some breeds/dogs longer than others. It's mostly the adolescent period, as younger pups, both were super easy to train, and very quick to learn. Once they hit about 3-4 (or maybe 10 ), they grow up a bit and settle down some.
  20. Both my two get along with my 2 indoor only cats... but I would not trust them with any other cat for a second. Both mine are ok with small dogs as they grew up with them in obedience classes etc.
  21. all I know is that I totally understand what Ruger means!!!
  22. I don't think Uncle Albers is available here in Perth?
  23. That's what happened when I tried it with Chelsea a couple of years ago... that and a really dull flaky coat.
  24. Better Pets and Gardens in Wangara stock it... I saw it there yesterday - the 10kg bags, can't remember the price tho. I'm guessing the other Better Pets probably would have it too (I think Midland might be your closest store?) It looks quite similar to CopRice Puppy which is also now finally stocked in Perth (City Barn in Malaga stock it). CopRice puppy is actually what Ollie's breeder recommended but I couldn't get it at the time so have been using Royal Canin which is a bit too $$$ for my liking.
