Pictures PLEASEEEEEEE!!! I just went an took a couple, sorry couldnt get more, I have to clear room on my memory card Playing fetch the rubber duck with Blacky His desexing wound
-
Luki had his desexing done today. All went well. It was a straightforward op (for once ) and he was bright eyed and bushy tailed when I picked him up. The vet says to me "You know, just after I knocked him out, he done the biggest turd I've seen". Gee we laughed. I said "I bet he stunk out the operating room then", he replies "Yeah, and there was shit everywhere". Typical of Luki, he's a bit of a clown and makes us laugh even when he doesn't mean to. The vets a good bloke and very DTE. Luki is a little quieter than usual and is resting in the bedroom somewhere. He did however have a hearty appetite and ate a good size chicken frame tonight for dinner. (No wonder, he pooped out the contents of his gut on the operating table ) Sorry but it was so funny the way Ross came out with it. Anyways all went good and I imagine he'll be back to his old self in no time. They (vet and wife) couldn't believe how lovely he has turned out, they haven't seen him for a few mths and he was tiny when they saw him last. He goes back in ten days for his stitches out.

I would get a plastic/metal crate. Put it back in the laundry, not in your room. Don't give in to her. I know it may be hard, she'll probably cry/howl throughout the night until she is back in a routine, but its important you deal with it now, rather than later. Maybe put some toys in there for her to occupy herself if she wakes up in the night wanting a play.

R.I.P. Beautiful Bonnie. So sad to hear of your loss. Run free girl.

And for you Nic, I know youre in alot of pain right now. My thoughts are with you. Nic you are an Angel An Angel in disguise, You saw in Old Ray what others didn't You saw the inner beauty in his eyes. I am Thankful you opened your heart and home So Thankful he had you all, I know now is a very sad time You feel so empty, you could fall. I know you'll cry a river of tears Feel like a part of your heart is gone, For him you will cry, for him you will fret For Old Ray, you will all mourn. But remember all the good times Nic When he made you smile and laugh too, The special time he spent with Hannah All those times he gazed up at you. Old Ray is in a better place now No more pain, he will run free again And just like you, I believe You'll see your friend again..... to you all. Rach XXX

I got goosebumps when I read your post curlybert because Anita Cobby was one of the many thoughts running thru my head when this was all happening...

Logans run is right next to my bedroom. He actually barked quiet aggressively a little while ago which is unusual. (So are the neighbours dogs) I am keeping an ear out, he WILL let me know when someones around. Logan is a little weary of strangers, has been since I bought him home so he'll tell me if someones there. He has the loudest, deepest bark. I think his bark alone would be enough to deter a wannabe thief. But then I guess they'll go to all lengths these days... But definately no more late night walking for me. I am scared they'll be waiting somewhere one night in the dark. As they were stalking me so many things ran thru my head, my kids mostly, my dogs, Logan - I tell you I wouldnt of given him up without a fight. I am just thankful I made it back home safely to the kids and furkids, for a moment there I had a feeling I wouldnt. sounds silly but I know, but my gut instinct told me that their intentions were not good at all..... I feel sick to the belly even thinking about it, the way they tried to hide their faces beneath hoods. Gives me shivers up my spine, literally.
-
Logan just saved me from a potential mugging I believe. I just got back from taking him around the block. On our journey, a car pulls up full of young men. Two in the front and 2 or 3 in the back. All had hooded jumpers on with the hoods half pulled over their faces. They pulled up alongside me and were silent. It was scary. After a little while one starts talking about Logan, asking 101 questions. "Whats he like with other people? is he trained? does he listen? do you want to get rid of him?" I was a little taken back by all the questions. I just had a bad gut feeling their intentions werent good and looked about for a house with lights on to run in to should I have to. I wasnt giving Logan up for the world. They were of non australian background. I was so nervous I didnt even to think to take note of the car. I was too busy watching them and anticipating their every move. I am still shaking. It was like they wanted to get out but just werent quiet sure of Loges. When they asked if I was getting rid of Logan I said "I dont think so, he was HUMAN AGGRESSIVE at the pound and could only be released to rescue". They replied "So what he isnt friendly with people?" My reply "He's fine with me, just not others". I was growing suss by the minute. Eventually they slooooowly drove off and stopped again a little down the street. By now alarming bells were going off, again my eyes searched for a house with lights on. I could only find one but I watched it ready to run in if I had to. Any other night the streets lit up like a Christmas tree, but not tonight - of all nights. The seemed to be waiting for me again as I got closer to the car. They then did a u-turn and pulled up alongside me again, closer this time. I was packing it. They said not a word, just stared at me. Thankfully Logan must of picked up on my fear and let out a funny howling sound, which sounded like an almighty growl. He didnt take his eye off them for a second. Neither did I. Again they slowly drove off as if they knew they didnt have a hope in hell of getting near me or Logan without a fight. But again they stopped up the road. By now I felt I had a clear run and began to jog, turning to look over my shoulder several times to make sure they werent following in car, OR foot. Its a pretty dark street. I was so glad to walk in that door. I told OH about it and told him I think they were trying to take Logan. He told me to wake up to myself it would of been ME they were after, not the dog. I still think they were after Loges. No more late night walks for me from now on. Not around here anyways. ;)

Oh Nic R.I.P. Old Ray ;) He sounded like a very special boy who came to you for a very special reason. Thank you to you and your family for making this boy part of your lives and loving him the way you did, right until the end. My thoughts are with you all. :p XXX

Dogs On The Corner Killed Old Mans Dog Sunday Night
k9angel replied to memphis09's topic in General Dog Discussion
Poor dog, that is JUST disgusting. Are these people hoons? (I dare say they are by the sounds of things) Maybe the old guy is scared to press charges??? Geez if it were my dog they ripped apart like that, I would be demanding charges be laid, because I wouldnt want it happening again to someone elses dog. 12 years is a long time to have a dog - what a sad way to end his/her life. Very similiar to the incident that happened here a few mths back with the neighbours dogs getting out and killing someones pet in the early hours of the morning. Those dogs were seized by a ranger and were subsequently pts. It also could of been prevented if the di@khead had of actually looked and fixed the hole in the fence where his dogs were getting out from instead of just putting them behind the gate and driving off. -
R.I.P. beautiful girl.

That was a sad but beautiful tribute. R.I.P. Pals

I've heard the same thing. People, many dog owners have no idea about other breeds, but when it comes to pitbulls.. "well they're the only ones that attack" so it must be a pitbull!! so infuriating. A few months ago the OH was out walking one of my dogs. He came running in screaming and carrying on that 2 pitties were after him out the front. I laughed at first, anyone would think he'd seen a ghost. Anyways I went to investigate as all my dogs were barking and carrying on. It was a staffy and a PB amstaff. They were friendly as hell with me but did want to get to my dogs and were even trying to squeeze under the fence to get to them. I hadnt seen a dog want to get to another as bad as these 2 did. It was scary. I managed to catch the staffy girl and put her on a lead. The amstaff just followed. (There was also 2 x 4mth old pups in tow ) I took the staffy across the street and 2 doors down back to their owners. The woman answered the door. She couldnt speak english very well. I said "Are these your dogs?" she said yes. I asked her to come and put them away as they were trying to get to my dogs and my neighbours dogs. She refused point blank saying she hated them. She went on to say she was scared of dogs, I asked "Well how do you go outside to put the washing on the line?" her reply was that she hangs it up inside. OMG some ppl. These dogs never got walked, you'd never see them out of the yard. They were thin and the 4 mth old pups were absolutely terrified and unsociliased with ppl. They had fly bitten ears. She said her husband was out fishing and that she'd call him to come home. In the meantime here I was wrestling this amstaff with all my might to get him behind the gate. He was human friendly but boy! was he strong. So I sat on the front step and held the staffy girl on the lead the other 3 dogs roaming close by, and waited and waited and waited. An hour or two later her husband shows up from his fishing trip. He pulls into the drive - leaves the car running, gets out, opens the gate and puts them back. He did NOT check to se where they'd gotten out from. Sure enough, as soon as he left they were back out. At about 2am I called the police as these dogs were running rampant in the street. They did NOT come. These 2 dogs went on to kill someones beloved pet. They got into someones backyard a few blocks from here and ripped it apart infront of its owners. My neighbours could hear the screams from here. The screams of a dog being ripped apart and the screams of a frantic owner waking up to this nightmare. These dogs ended up at the pound. One pup was MIA, one pup remained at home. (still there now) and still has a shit life, he hasnt even been vaccinated letalone desexed. The 2 adult dogs were pts. I had told the owner about them and he acted so concerned. So much so he didnt even go to pick them up, didnt even enquire about them. Not that he would of been allowed to take them home. They were doomed for their actions that night. I gave the pound this mans details but they never followed up as far as I know so he got off, without a slap on the wrist even. Sorry the whole point of this was OH's first reaction to these dogs. He mistook them for pitties.

I was about to copy and paste this story here too. How terrible. That poor donkey. That is just cruel.

Some of the nicest dogs Ive met have been pitties. Around here they are quiet common. The young ethnic 'hero' types think its cool to be seen with one clad in thick studded collars. The young guy up the road from me (hero ethnic type) had one a few weeks back. A little red nose about 10-12 wks old. I asked him (only yesterday) what happened to him as I hadnt seen him for a while and he says "It was getting bigger and chewing things, including ME so I got rid of it". (What does he expect of a puppy??? ) I thought he may of killed him the way he was talking, so I asked "Did you rehome him?" he replies "Yeah to my cousin he has heaps of pitties". These are the ppl that give the breed a bad name. The losers who do not have a clue about pitties or any other dogs for that matter, who do not know the importance of early socialisation. My vet runs a doggy daycare where the littlies get dropped off for the day while their owners work or are away from home. All the dogs he has are small white fluffy or terrier types with one exception. A mature pitty girl. Its lovely to watch her run and play with the littlies. She is harmless. She has been raised properly, the way ALL dogs should be, regardless of breed. Then there was Buster. A pitty boy who was caught up in a fighting racket several years back now. Thanks to the help of my brother (also an animal lover) we rescued this boy. He came to live with me for a year+ before being rehomed. I NOT once saw this boy even lift his lip at another dog. He was very sweet. After very careful introductions he actually lived in harmony with my pack of huskies, with absolutely no issues at all. You couldnt ask for a nicer dog. Its the clueless morons who end up with these dogs that are the killers - not the dogs.

Wanted: Foster Carer Or Rescue For Huskies X 3
k9angel replied to k9angel's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Just now when I opened my email there was an email from Jasmines family with some gorgeous pics of her. It was perfect timing as I was feeling a little down and fretting for Sash a little. A lot actually. Jasmine looks absolutely stunning. I cannot believe it. She has been on a diet and just look at her. She's a new girl. She looks so much healthier. I have to admitt I had a happy tear as I opened the pics one by one. Unbelieveable. And she is so white - When she was here she only had the run and there is only concrete and a the dirt garden that runs along the fence so it was hard to keep her clean. After I'd bath her she would go roll in the dirt :D as she had no grass in her run to roll in. It was a lovely update and made me feel so much better about Sasha. Theyre very happy with her. She doesnt get buggered on her walks anymore and is really happy. I think I will have to send my old girl over to them as she is need of a good diet. Look at how slim she is now. -
I couldnt help it. I had to bath the stray boy. I wouldnt of been able to sleep otherwise. The bath was BLACK afterwards, and there is still more to go, he isnt spotless yet - but he is alot better than what he was and actually enjoyed it, poor boy. Just stood there gazing into the air as I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. He thought he was in heaven and was nodding off half the time. That stuff is really caked on. I hope he has come from a good home and not one where they didnt care for him. I am guessing his bed was either under a car or truck. He wouldnt wear a jumper. I put it on him ok but he did not like it one bit and tried to get it off himself, so I took it off for him. I dried him the best I could and I will worm him in the morning before I take him to the vet or pound. He's a really nice boy. He is handling it really well out there and appears to be just happy to have a full belly and warm bed. He looooooves the kennel. Thats it - back to Logan now - sorry to go off topic here but what a coincidence, just when I was updating Logans thread a Logan look-alike arrives.... The bath water afterwards And the finished product.... he isnt 100% spotless, but is alot better than on his arrival. He'll need another bath or two to get the rest of the grease out.
-
Many do seem to find their way here Yeah I want to bath him so bad, I can bath him inside in warm water, thats no problem - the drying part is. I know I can use a towel, but that wont dry him totally and he'll get cold when he goes back outside. I dont even know where to begin looking for the hair dryer as I never use it. What would get the grease out? normal dog shampoo? Ive never had a greasy one before. He looks and smells like he's been swimming in an oil slick somewhere.
-
Checking him over - he has a few small nics on his legs. Smelling all the other doggy smells no doubt This is the 'stray' boy. He is putrid. I want to give him a bath but its so cold out there, I fear he will freeze overnight. He is a very friendly boy, loves everyone. The neighbour seems to think he may of been used as a guard dog in a smash repair joint as he is so greasy and dirty. I am thinking maybe he's been lost for sometime and was sleeping under a truck or something somewhere. I dont know. Anything's possible. He quiet enjoyed sitting on my lap. He is only a pup. His teeth and gums are that of a 12mth old dog, if that. He had no collar on and is quiet thin. He loves the kennel and ate all his chicken. I have left a bowl of dried food there for him too, just incase. Logan can see him from his run and at first was barking/howling at him, but alls quiet out there now. I will check on him thru the night as he has a chocker on, but he's pretty settled out there. He was fine when he was inside and seemed pretty used of being indoors. ??? Poor boy, dog only knows what he's been thru and where he's been.
-
Its been over 2 mths since I updated on Logan last time flies.... He is doing really well. He is due for another bath/brush, hopefully I will get time to do it tommorow if its nice and sunny like today was. Today we spent the day trying to lay some pavers down in his run so he spent some of the day on a tether to the box trailer in the front yard, he thought it was great to be honest and I am glad he was a good boy and didnt carry on. I know some dogs can really dislike being tethered. He watched everything we done with such interest too. He is a gorgeous boy, very playful and he loves to play fetch and zoomies. He's a speed demon under that fur coat. He is great with the kids too. Some pics I got today. He is a handsome boy He'd just finished saying a big hellow howl. Gotta go a red & wht husky has just showed up at my neighbours and its NOT one of mine. I do however have him tethered to the front now as I do not want him to get hit by a car. He is a red & wht male, all bones and covered in grease.... :D ETA: I have fed him a chicken carcass and given him a bowl of water. He also has a kennel set up (igloo one thanks T ) with lots of warm bedding. I feel so sad for him. He is a friendly boy and judging by his teeth only a youngster. The neighbour came to the door and asked if one of my dogs was out. I replied "I hope not" and went to investigate. He was running around the neighbours yard with their 2 GSHP, so I put him on a lead and bought him here. He would most likely get hit by a car otherwise. The train tracks are less than 50 mtres from here also. I will have to take him to the vet in the morning to be scanned, if not the pound. ;) But i feel better if he is there than out on the street. I have never seen him before so he possibly has come from far I dont know. By the look of him, he has been on the streets quiet some time. I will get some pics and post in the lost and found later tonight or first thing in the morning also.

What a lucky dog. That would of been a very happy reunion.

How odd. Poor dog. Maybe she'll get a good dose of Karma and have her own life turned upside down....

There is something about this on the channel 7 news tonight.
