  1. Lately, I've been getting a hard time by it... so it's why I questioning it
  2. So reading the Humanising dog thread... some people mention they won't give their dog human name. What's so bad/wrong with it? My 2 have human names and I also gave them surnames too (but that was just for kicks and giggles and personal amusement). Reason why I give my 2 human names is because... well, it suits them. Emmy was named before I got her. Charlie was the first thought when I laid eyes on him.
  3. i had a husky who loves sleeping out in the sun... the hotter the better
  4. to you both sending healing vibes your way!
  5. Yep, I do in some degree We do it because it can't be helped. I enjoy my dogs because they are dogs, but both of them have strong personalities that I can't help humanising it. Eg, when I accidently step on Emmy's toe and she is screaming the house down, and then jumps in my arms for a cuddle. Reminds me of a toodler throwing a tantrum and then wants a cuddle. Or when Charlie is not impress with me when I throw him a piece of cheese and forget that he can't catch, and it hits his head. He really does give me the 'WTF' look... it's the same kind of look my teenage cousin gives me when she's not impress with me. I find it hilarious!!
  6. this is one of my pet peeves... i will call out to the person and tell them to pick up after their dog. I make sure I'm say it loud that will get other people's attention, so everyone knows who i'm talking about it and turn to looks at that person. It's a horrible thing to do, but it really annoys me.
  7. awwww... it's the Hairy Potter! such a sweetheart. cutest pic.. love him.
  8. Bubble Machine I have something similar to this for my 2 :D
  9. Charlie wears orange. His theme is red and orange. Emmy is all about the pink. Answering your question... yes, boy dogs can wear purple :D
  10. She sounds nuts! I take my 2 to the beach sometimes and we just hang out. One time, there was this man with a GSD and a Rotti than came to the beach, and he saw us and quickly clipped his dogs on the beach. I didn't think anything by it, neither Charlie or Emmy cared about the 2 big dogs - Charlie was busy digging his way to China and Emmy was busy finding dead fish to roll all over. They saw the dogs and then went back to their important business. His dog showed no interest in my 2 either. About 20 minutes later, the guy walked over to me and asked if I mind if he take his dogs off leash and was trying to assure me that his dogs aren't scary. I was really shocked about this. I told him that I didn't mind at all, it is a dog friendly beach. He told me that he has been told off a few times because owners with small dogs at the beach because he has 2 big dogs. He didn't want to cause trouble so he came and ask me (I was more impressed that he left his dog in a drop/stay position and came over to me chat and none of his dogs moved! - i'm still working with the drop/stay with my 2... lol). Both his dogs were beautiful, well trained and lovely. The man and his dogs were busy swimming and chasing balls, while I was busy taking photos and keeping an eye on my 2. As we were leaving, the man called out Bye and gave me a wave. I did the same.
  11. Do you think this will help with cutting dogs nails? Since Charlie's illness and doing so many test and getting a lot of needles, Charlie doesn't like people touching his paws.. so this makes it an adventure at home when we try to cut his nails.
  12. I use different bowls and plates for visitors
  13. How do you train them to not stare?! We just tell them to lie down in a pretty mean voice and I guess it makes them go into avoidance so they look away. No doubt there are better ways to train it! I don't look at my two. They get bored quickly if they don't get no attention from me.
  14. Charlie and Em do their own things during meal times. They don't bother me and I just ignore them. They get to lick the dessert bowl or plate when I'm done though. Especially if I had ice cream
  15. Tibbies do take part in agility & win titles, but it seems more in the US. They had a website devoted to US tibbies in agility. http://agiletibs.tripod.com/titles.html http://agiletibs.tripod.com/agiletibs.html Maybe it tells more about we tibbie owners in Australia! You made me think, tho', RP. The small dog that used to be in the Pal Superdog Team, doing all sorts of agility tricks, was a Papillon. I don't know a lot about Papillons. But could it be worth OP looking into that breed, too??? I also think that already loving the 'poodleness' in the present dog, maybe go with a small p/b poodle??? Casper, the boy i posted up, will make an awesome agility dog or flyball dog. He is quick, he jumps high and has the drive for it :D I'm still talking my cousin to get Casper into it.
  16. I most of the time take my 2 on holiday with me. The times when I go without them is when I need a holiday from them! I like going overseas once a year too.
  17. Really? I didn't realise NSW was bad. There are a few dog beaches, and the one in Wollongong (an hour away from Sydney) has a dog friendly beach where you can swim with them. A lot of places in Sydney were you can take your dogs to cafe for lunches or coffee (i do this often with my 2). I wouldn't take them to the City itself, but a lot of Inner West suburbs are very pet friendly There are a few great off leash (no fence) dog parks around too.
  18. Do you have time for another dog? Especially when you go back to work, will you committed on fulfilling 2 dogs individual needs and wants separately? Double the training. Double the $$. Do you want to go through their "teenage" phase together (if you get another puppy)?
