  1. For some reason, the evil beagle popped in my head while watching this! :D Escape artist!
  2. Yes, he will remember you guys ;) I wish my two greeted me with a tiny bit of joy and excitement when I get home though :D I was away for a week and I walk into the door expecting some happy greetings but instead, Charlie was like 'meh, mama's home' and continues what he is doing (eating pig ear at the time) and Emmy runs into the house and looks at me as though saying 'oh. you're home! cool! Cuddles later. Busy!' and runs back outside to do whatever she was doing.
  3. dirt adds extra flavouring for the chicken what pers said... very normal :D
  4. Ok, I have a Japanese Spitz. I don't know much about German Spitz though, although I've met a few and they are very cute but more aloof. Yappy - Emmy doesn't bark for no reason. She is a great alarm dog though... since we got Em, no one has ever used my doorbell. Emmy barks and then find me to let me know someone is at the front door. Coat - Grass seeds and bindi are hell for their coat. I went camping with Emmy and spend hours afterward brushing her and pulling out grass seeds and bindi out of her coat... luckily she loves cuddles and will just lay on top of me while I do this. Kids - You have to really research your dog and talk to a good breeder about it's temperament when it comes to kids. Emmy isn't a fan of kids, but now learned to tolerate them. She loves the kids she sees all the time but with kids she doesn't know, she will keep a distance till she works up the courage to go over to say hello. Like all dogs, they need to be socialised. Not sure about other JS, but I know that my JS has a high prey drive. It will hunt and kill small animals and bugs. Also, they are too intelligent and willful, so training them is a must. They are bred to be companion dogs, but they are still dogs. JS are a busy breed, so they have the need to always do something (or else they will keep themselves entertained by destroying your house )
  5. Emmy slept on the bed with me and each time she woke up, we go outside. She is pretty clever as in she goes to the toilet straight away when I take her outside. She wakes me up about 3 times a night for a few months. I had to escape for a weekend to have a proper 8 hours sleeps because I was getting very cranky She was hell to toilet train and I never thought she would get it. But, she eventually did. It's all about consistency.
  6. :D I swear Emmy had 3 growth spurts... she outgrew things very quickly.
  7. No one should be abused and harrassed like that... regardless of the situation. That guy is just a mean bully... If he had an issue about it, he could of said something about, walk across the street, report it or something... there was no need to carry on like a jerk to prove a point. He scared you and your dog, and that's not right. You've learned your lesson about keeping your dog on the leash now.
  8. My 2 graze too... especially after a rain fall and grass is still wet.
  9. Oh... he is soooooo cute!! Got a name for him yet?
  10. Oh, Emmy use to be a tantrum thrower (not just on leash either!)... She will literally throw herself on the ground and get all bratty (the whinging, growling and squealing). I just let her throw the tantrum and so its out of her system, once she is done... I simply continue what I was doing. Her acting like a drama queen isn't going to get her out of walking or whatever else I want her to do and she doesn't. She has learned that it's easier to do what I tell her to do instead of fighting it because she will end up having to do it anyway... :D I can be a mean mummy sometimes
  11. Oh it's normal. Emmy does it... she growls at everything, not just play. Preparing for bed, eating something she really really likes, chasing bugs...
  12. Yes, I think some dogs can get lonely. They are pack animals and all. It all depends on the elderly dog... if he still active and likes other dogs, then maybe get a second dog. If the elderly dog isn't... probably not a good idea. Puppies or younger dogs can get annoying.
  13. Pretty sure it's not the law, see post #31. Once I had my dog harnessed in the back seat when I thought "wow, he's being quiet". I turned around to see why... he had gotten himself tangled in both the harness and the seatbelt and was chewing the seatbelt to try free himself. That definitely distracted me from driving. By the time I found somewhere to pull over he'd eaten through half the seatbelt and was actually quite distressed. I think it is difficult sometimes for big dogs because the attachment needs to be so long that it gives them complete movement anywhere on the backseat. My dog hits his head on the ceiling when he sits in the back seat Oops... I mean it's the law to keep the dogs restrained
  14. Poor doggie Charlie has his booster chair and Emmy has her car seat carrier (kinda like a soft crate but it opens from the top). Even with those, they have to be harnessed and clipped to the booster car or car seat (the comes with their own clippy thing where you can clip the harness to it). Just cause it's the LAW. From 1 July 2008 in NSW... dogs have to be restrained riding in cars. $285 fine and you will lost points off your drivers license (most probably 3).
  15. I got Emmy from Victoria... road trip!! Picked her up myself... also a chance to meet puppies parents, breeder and the place where the pup was raised till she was 8 (nearly 9) weeks old
  16. Charlie likes oranges, mandarins and cherries. Emmy likes Nashi.. only fruit she will eat. And, not really eat... she licks it, suck it, chew on it and spit it out..
  17. Mower and catcher! I have dogs with white feet
  18. Dogs do weird stuff and have days where they are brat... i know my 2 can be (and if they are, park trip gets cut short). I mean when people take dogs to the dog park, and they just talk on the phone or do something else and let their dog do whatever. They are the ones i'm refer to idiot owners. There have been many times have I've been to the park and there is a dog running around and the owner is talking on the phone is not paying attention, while their dogs are jumping over everyone, knocking over kids and harrassing other dogs...
  19. 1. some people are idiot and inconsiderate. 2. if i was the jogger, i would be upset too. i'm a huge dog lover, but if a dog came running to me barking and carrying on... it would freak me out too. I won't yell at the owner, but I will mention to them that if they can't control their dog, then they shouldn't off leash. it's dangerous. 3. good that you report the fight unfortunately there are idiots dogs owner out there and they should keep a better eye on their dogs at parks too.
  20. Ohh.. another JS owner!! Welcome!!!! I have one of them and I think they are awesome! Where are you getting your pup from? Health wise...the most common things vets are finding with JS is patella luxation. Talk to be breeder about that Socialise them as soon as you get them, but taking the pup everywhere. Lucky they are little because you can carry them everywhere. Enrol to puppy school. Just cause they are ridiculously cute, they are very strong willed.. so prepare to be firm (there are times where I had to close my eyes and give Emmy a lecture cause she is so damn cute with her head tilts and her sweet black eyes). You have to show them who's boss. They do require a lot of training too or else they will run circles around you. They are very clever breed. They are very energetic too and fearless... well, my Emmy is, so keep in mind of that. They have to be kept busy or else they will find something to destroy... most puppies are like that though. Crate training is a MUST!!! If you have any questions.. feel free to ask When you get pics... MUST POST THEM UP!!!
  21. Lady at a park has firmly (and sternly) tried to educate me that a maltese x poodle is a maltipoo. She as a purebred Maltipoo I told her that her dog is a Poo and she hasn't spoken to me since. Regardless what it is.. it's a mutt.
  22. how funny... seems like most people have a fun police Corvus: Emmy is the same with Erik. She literally has her nose in everyone's business. She has to be involved in whatever everyone is doing...
