  1. I've never had to use the cone either for my 2. Charlie never licked his stitches and Emmy didn't even realise she had stitches!
  2. Well, the pool as arrived yesterday... thankfully, because it was really really hot!!! After 40 minutes putting the pool up myself and everything, it looks awesome. Not as big as I thought, but it was plenty big for Charlie and Emmy Emmy loves it. She insist she had to go into the pool while I was filling it up with water so she will walk splashing in the water and had a great time playing with the hose. I threw a rubber ducky in there with her, and she played with that too. Charlie liked it but rather be hunting lizards. I joined Emmy is walking around in the water too. I'm teaching her her how to splash but she hasn't got the concept yet. I haven't filled the water up high enough for them to properly swim at the moment though. Just so they both get use to being in there walking around. I'm thinking in winter, I can move my pool in the double garage so The Sibs can swim all year round
  3. My breeder was feeding Emmy chicken necks before we got her at 9 weeks. Charlie was fed chicken neck at 8 weeks. It took him a long while to eat it. Yeah.. we bashed the neck till it was softer and easier for them to eat it
  4. Emmy is a head turner. A neighbour friend has a JS but she bought it from the pet store... you can definitely tell the difference in the two JS. Emmy is bigger, more solid and just looks more vibrant and is simply stunning (yes, I am bias). Whereas the other JS just looks.. well, dull. What I notice is that even when Emmy is dirty she is still very white, whereas then the other JS is dirty, she goes to a creamy colour.
  5. On the packet is too much for my 2. I remember feeding Charlie kibble for the first time and i looked at his bowl and look down at him... the food pile was bigger than he head and I remember thinking 'he eats all this, he isn't going to be able to move!'. Charlie has never been a big eater, i use to think that he was a picky eater, but realise he isn't. He only eats when he needs too. He sometimes goes days without eating. I started feeding him once a day when he was 6 months, because he never ate breakfast. He is still the same now. He normally just eats 1 (sometimes and a half) chicken wings at night or 2 handful (my handful.. and i have little hands) of dry bikkies at night. Now summer is around, he eats a bit more because he is more active and eat for energy.
  6. are they a spitz breed? if so.. come into the spitz thread
  7. I've met him. He seems a little fake to me. I see Lisa from sash quite a bit too ... she is plain weird and annoying.
  8. Oh how exciting!!!! Get the dog that will suit you and your lifestyle best. ask them about their temperament. some breeders are busy. patience is the key of getting a puppy... LOL
  9. what did your breeder suggest? I, personally, won't change till they are a year old. I sometimes feed my 2 kangeroo meat. Not often but once in a while.
  10. Yeah, Miss Emmy will recover fine Kinda dreading the first 4 weeks where I have to try to keep her calm...
  11. My x breed doesn't get car sickness. My purebred does. We have worked with her to overcome her anxiety with the car. She will jump in the car and be happy about it, but she will start drooling by the time we reach the end of the street. I don't think parentage has anything to do with it
  12. Not sure if this is the right advice but I had a dog that was a little like that. He was a stray that followed me home when I was a kid. I let him follow me around everywhere, it comforts him to be around me. I don't acknowledge him or interact with him, but he was always on my side. When he started to get confidence, I will start to leave him in the backyard when he is distracted with something else... he would be out there by himself for 30 seconds, then eventually he would be happy to be out there for an hour or two. I let my 2 follow me around when they first come home. They can whinge, cry or, in Charlie's case, squeaks as much as they like when they follow me around. I just don't pay attention to it. If they are scared of something, I watch and see what they do. Usually they get the courage to face up their fears, and once they do, they are happy again. They still follow me around now, but it's not a comfort thing. It's more like 'what is mummy doing? is it going to be fun?' But it do my head in at first, but I eventually learn to block it out and just ignore it.
  13. Emmy loves playing rough with some of her doggie friends. She is good at matching her energy and physically strength to match the other dogs to play. The big dogs she plays with, are good with her too. She sometimes plays rough with Charlie but usually when Charlie starts it.
  14. For sure!!! Yep, it will be put in a section of the yard where it's already fenced and we are looking into covers for it. Should have known you'd have all your bases covered Awesome - now to just make sure my pupsters don't see that I look after my dogs better then I look after myself. And, if I miss something, then the boyfriend will figure it out. I'm only good at looking after my dogs If you're in Sydney... you can bring doggies over for a pool party Omg, JS pool party! ;) :p That would be sooo cute! Riddick and Rover agree Those guys are always welcome
  15. I do ToT with my 2. Charlie first and when Emmy came, it wasn't an issue feeding them in the same room.
  16. Does this mean you have to carry the clicker everywhere you go with your dog? What if you forget? How do you mark your dog for doing a behaviour you like if you don't have a clicker on your hand? I only use clicker when doing complex skills with my JS. She also has marker words which is 'Good' and 'Yes'. This works for us because I rarely say "Good" or "Yes" to her I personally don't think a dog will just recognise their own clicker. Some might but I don't think it really matters. Just because I have a lot of clickers at home and Emmy will get excited with any clicker I bring out. You can be in the same room with me and I use your clicker on Emmy, and she will still work for me. She won't work for the clicker you're using (even if it's hers) and that's because she will work for me regardless what equipment I use
