  1. Maybe it's six but the one i went to held the class for 10 weeks... so maybe is varies? I think there were some dogs and owners in the class really needed all the 10 weeks.
  2. I was hoping that too. If they do that, I'm sure a lot of people who try to get their dog to be a CGC. I would like to take Charlie on public transport with me, so we can go to the city and hang out. I don't like driving and parking in the city is hell.
  3. There is a national registry national pet registry Both Charlie and Em are on this. That is the green thing you see on Charlie's collar a lot in photos. On it there is a phone number you can call, and his membership number. You can also go on the website to write down the number and get the owners details. I hope all this makes sense. Emmy as one too but it's under her fur!
  4. Not really. The written test is common sense questions and I googles the answers a lot Hardest is the training the dog part I'm thinking of putting Emmy into the program but not till she a bit older though... when she is more calmer
  5. :p Kairu needs to be a year old to go for it but Delta runs the courses.
  6. Thanks everyone ;) There was a written test and a practical test for Charlie. I just pass the written test but Charlie scored 100% for his test... DogSportObsessed - that would be awesome it was a title.. Charlie CGC. It will be his one and only title (unless he can do Rally O :p ) tlc - Don't they have to be over 2 years old to be a therapy dog?
  7. Thanks Nik!! Charlie is awesome (yes, i'm bias) Cassie: I'm not sure. I don't think it matters now because Charlie has a lifetime registration.
  8. thanks I was hoping that it would give him more public access
  9. can't see the pics! But HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! WOW... sweet 16!!!
  10. Charlie is a certified CGC now (yay Charlie!!) Now what? I'm going to get Charlie to try to be a therapy dog next year after his second birthday. Anyone has a CGC dog? And, what are the advantages of having one? He will be getting a tag and leash stating that he is a Canine Good Citizen now
  11. poor Gert to your mum from having a huge fright too
  12. I don't think Emmy is related to any JS on DOL Codi is a Daesdaemar puppy.
  13. just curious but why did the vet say to change to a high calcium diet? question has been answered Charlie is on a high calcium diet but it's because he has bone issues. He gets Advance (he got switched from Hills)... but that's not majority of his diet though. With his high calcium diet, Charlie gets a lot more bones, diary food (he is no lactose intolerant thankfully), egg (shell and all). But, also important that your pup gets a lot of sun (Vitamin D) too. Calcium needs Vitamin D to absorb properly.
  14. My start is saying 'Ready?' and she is in drive. Only my out command is "mine" Game is finished, the command is "Finish" I just walk away and put the toy away.
  15. Billie must like seasoned chicken - often rolls it in some dirt before settling down to eat.

    Adolescence

Emmy is 9 months now and she is the total opposite!! She has calmed down a lot, she is more confidence and settled that she is really really good. Training her is so much fun now that she is more focus and all she wants is to make me happy. She loves her rules I've set for her because now she knows what is she allowed and not allowed to do, and Emmy being sensitive, she doesn't like making anyone upset. Because she is so good.. it's easy to reward her with free running at parks, taking her to picnics with her and everything. She LOVES doing what her pack is doing, she needs to be part of it and involved with it. Her issues is that she is still socialisation based, so I'm going to forever socialise the hell out of her. But, to the pace where she is comfortable and her confidence builds when I let her sort out some of her issues on her own. I'm just there to supervise and be there when she has had enough and give her praise and cuddles when she overcome her issue. She still needs a firm hand though. Emmy is very energetic, busy and always needs something to do... that's who she is She still feisty, still bosses her brother around (whacking him on the head with a toy is her way of inviting Charlie to play), she will still launch in my arms to tell me that she's bored and wants to play, has a fetish for my expensive handbags and shoes, and still has the need to tell me EVERYTHING that happens Issues that comes up with Emmy... we worked on it till we get a satisfying result. There is no such thing as giving up or failure... it might takes months or it's going to be an on going thing, but I want the best for my pup, so failure is not an option
  17. That depends on the size of the Germans. The smallest are much smaller than a Jap. The Japs are very "busy" dogs and definitely not the type to lie around doing nothing, unless of course they happen to be lying on your lap getting spoilt. Then they are more than happy to stay still. This is true. They can lay in your arms or be cuddles for hours if you let them :D
  18. yes it is! you may need Chrome or Firefox rather than IE for this.
  19. :D it is a personal decision. i was in the same situation years back. i left the house and the dogs. i just wanted out. where i was going, i couldn't take the dogs, just because i was moving to an apartment and i had 2 grown huskies and i couldn't separate the 2. hardest decision i had to do was to leave the dogs, but it was all for the best.
  20. Oh no!!! No, Emmy never pees on the bed... I'm a light sleeper or she comes and wakes me up to let me know she's up ;)
