Just because another dog likes its space does not make them DA. I don't like my personal space invaded so why should my dog?
-
The other owner had ample opportunity to move his dog. My pup entered the big dogs space, but the owner also had a slack lead for the dog to lunge. I'm not defending myself here, I know I stuffed up. Just got me thinking of legalities, two owners not on the ball and if an incident happens, i'd say 50/50 responsibility. how could he have ample opportunity to move his dog? He was sitting down and your dog went too close. Dogs can lunge even on a tight lead, you weren't watching you have no idea if he had a slack lead.

You were at fault for letting your dog approach so close to another. The other person was sitting down quietly with their dog. Doesn't have to be a DA dog at all. My dog was once sitting between my knees when another ran right up to her. My dog bit the other dog on the nose. She never moved from between my knees. Impossible to stop her in that split second, not my dog's or my fault at all and my dog was not DA. I saw the dog coming but didn't have time to get to my feet or anything and my dog never lunged, that's how quick the other dog moved right into her space and into her face.

do you need help to pay the ongoing vet costs? I am happy to send some dollars. Do not be ashamed to ask.

someone today called my greyhound boy a gooby dog and he is. I think Stan is a gooby dog. Hugs and kisses all round
-
Been thinking of you all on and off all night, so bloody angry on your behalf. Hopefully Maddie will come through surgery with flying colours. I won't be back on until tonight to check in, hugs to you and the hounds

If you have any rescue remedy take some and share with Stan
-
Oh no that is awful. You and your poor defenceless dogs. Please report the attackers as soon as you can. Healing vibes to Maddie and Stan.

and just remember not all dogs present the same way with bloat. One of the worst cases ever seen by a Sydney emergency vet was a greyhound that was just not quite right, owned by experienced people who had seen bloat before.
-
Is it hard? Really if you think bloat then must get to vet asap

few years ago I had the council knock on my door cause a cat had been killed by a couple of large dogs a street or two over. I asked straight out if they were asking me cause I had greyhounds and they said um no but I have always doubted them. I told them next doors large dog, a Golden Ret., had not been out either cause I had heard him barking. So I reckon they can look up dogs on their data base.

Fern would have ripped off Shandi's leg. Her food is her food!

My greyhound has a disc problem, confirmed by MRI. Her only treatment was 6 weeks strict crate rest, which worked beautifully. If it hadn't have worked we would have had to weigh up on whether to do surgery. She isn't on any supplements because it is not arthritis. I restrict her chances to play with my other dog wildly in the backyard. Twisting and turning are what set her off.

For a lot of breeders there is no difference in price. I sell all my pups at the same price. They cost the same to raise. Lots of show quality dogs on Limited register. Limited does not automatically mean lesser quality.
-
just for your information lots of breeders won't let you pick your own puppy and it's not because they are unethical. I wait until I have picked my puppy first and then work on down. Who has show potential, who is outgoing, who needs a laid back pup, who already has a bitch at home so needs a dog pup etc. Lot's of reasons why a breeder won't let a buyer pick a pup.
-
it doesn't really matter if they were greys or dobes, playing or aggressive. A woman nearly lost her eye and the owner of the dogs needs to be found and punished and possibly the dogs too.
-
Dogs still have to be on main register if shown in Neuter class
-
Fawn dogs are often described as brown by the general public

I hope if they are Greys they weren't green collared. The program is very new in NSW and took a lot to get it in - if a green collared dog (a dog that has passed the test) behaved in this manner it will call the whole program into question, and with the NSW Gov currently investigating adding more breeds to the BSL list it could have serious rammifications. I hope they weren't green collared either. I've known a couple of greys who have bitten and heard of others. They are out there.

In most states it is up to the new owner to transfer the dog, not the breeder. Breeder signs the back of the form and then new owner sends it in with the fee.

Hi Rebanne, Thanks for the reply. You know I had never considered something like that with the door on the side rather than front on and it makes a lot of sense too, I wonder if you could hose it out occasionally if you made sure it dried properly? What was the quality like considering how many of these there seem to be in the market? Cheers, John it's sat out in the weather year round, I think it's reasonable quality and at that price you can buy a new one if needed every few years. I think the secret is to keep the oil up to it. The huge marine ply kennel I have is over 24 years old but can't move it :D
-
I would be looking for a kennel with a side opening to help prevent wind and raining blowing straight in. I have one of these and find it quite reasonable. I give it a coat of oil a couple of times a year and it's coming up to 3 years old. Plenty big enough for a GSD.

or they could browse the breed 101 forum
