What Do You Use To Cushion Elbows
Rebanne replied to White Shepherd mom's topic in General Dog Discussion
don't use vet wrap! In awkward spots it tends to roll in on it's self. I don't see why a strap across the back is so bad -
Not Sure How To Best Manage Neighbours Dog
Rebanne replied to louise6616's topic in General Dog Discussion
too late, neighbours will just say mean person next door has made dog that way (noisy) by keeping her whenever it suits neighbour. So of course dog is unsettled. -
sorry you haven't got a reply. I too remember the thread but not who wrote it!

Even when you are not breeding for profit you have to conserve your resources to be able to do the most good - its not a bottomless pit and every animal they keep alive that cant contribute is one they cant have that can contribute. Farmers can only keep the best animals to breed with regardless of what they will do with them. The goals may be different though some would argue that protecting a purebred cattle breed's bloodline is not much different to protecting a lion's but its the same result - you cant just keep animals that are no longer needed for the gene pool. They were still contributing by bringing people through the turnstiles. The females they want to breed from where only born in 2012, they could have made more of an effort to find homes for the 2 young ones they killed. What are they going to do in a couple of years? Kill off the parents and any male cubs and bring another new male in? Imagine if dog breeders did this.

try clicking first then throwing the treat to him while he is not so close to the noise. Click should come first.

most dogs will have a tendency to wander if they are allowed to by poor fencing or poor shutting of doors and gates.

A Good Breed For Someone With Anxiety?
Rebanne replied to kiwifeathers's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is only one person in NZ who has bred recently and that was over 3 years ago afaik. In the USA plenty of greys do obedience and agility and do well. We have them here as well, in WA and QLD. There are no muzzling laws in NZ. If a grey was of interest to the OP then I would go the way of GAP NZ and get an adult. You know what you are getting, you have the back up of the organisation and it's a good way to dip your toe into the world of dog ownership before tackling the dog show world with another breed. And even when they don't bark I certainly knew if people were around by the way they race to the door, tails wagging madly  But I think a lab or rottie would be a good choice as well. -

Don't walk down my driveway then. Fern sounds like the Hounds from Baskerville all on her own LOL. My friend also had a black grey who was an excellent watchdog. They are out there but they are not the norm. -

A Good Breed For Someone With Anxiety?

I'd suggest a black greyhound. NZ has a GAP program. I'd skip the showing bit, it's pretty full on. If she got, say a lab, could she deal with the whispers and rumors that could potentially start up? Whether her dog was good, bad or average. -
I would guess this dog was well known and had at least one order on him. ie the owner had failed to comply with registering, desexing and microchipping within the required time. I would also guess the owner got another dog cause she was trying to offload Dante onto to some poor unsuspecting person. Poor angry dog who never had a chance because of his dickhead owner. Don't think he was being held for ransom at all

egg yolks are high in biotin thereby negating the egg white.

Not all hounds have a tendency to bark

My dog recently had a MRI and the cost was $1500, this was in Melbourne. There were other costs involved, vet consult, day boarding etc.

My GSD's coped with less then 30 minutes a day exercise. It's what they were used to. They were also outside a lot and mostly slept outside. I had one barker out of 5 over the years, never at night, only if I was out during the day. Most were trained to competition level and competed in trials, both obedience and agility. I think they were pretty happy.

will be there Easter Sunday, a whole 4 greyhounds entered!

Four And A Half Week Old Puppy Not Gaining Enough
Rebanne replied to mini girl's topic in Breeders Community
I'd be getting a full vet check. At 4 and 1/2 weeks old she should be well able to eat.
