  1. I can just see a dog out in nature unscrewing the top off a bottle of vitamin supplement powder.
  2. THIS! I would feel much more comfortable going to someone who is an ethical breeder and not a registered one. Obviously I would prefer to go to someone who is both of course. I personally know someone who is an ethical breeder, but is unregistered. I like to think most registered breeders are like this breeder, they just happen to have an extra piece of paper with their name on it. in what way are they ethical if they are not registered with a governing body?
  3. I think this post posted here earlier seems to have been missed by some??? The OP HAS contacted the breeder. The OP wants to keep the puppy. The OP has come here for advice on the these issues and where to draw the line regarding the health of the puppy. No the post wasn't missed. The breeder was contacted after the OP came here and it was suggested the breeder be contacted. So that aspect is good. Now we all cross our fingers the vets figure out what is wrong with the pup and that it is something minor and easily fixed and the pup is fine.
  4. No it's not a breeders problem if the puppy ate something it shouldn't in the new owners care but, you know, good breeders do actually love their babies even after they have been sold to new families. The love and concern doesn't just shut off like turning a tap. Good breeders care.
  5. Better they went to their breeder first, that's what breeders are there for.
  6. I think that grommit was just coming to where she would get a bit of advice and support. It is like having to go for an interview: you ask people who have done it, what to expect, how to handle yourself. Obviously the interview is going to take place, but preparation and planning are necessary. It is a shock when things go wrong. Surely there is no fault with turning to where you think there will be support from others who may have experience. You should get the best advice and support from the breeder. If you have built up a relationship with a breeder and the breeder trusts you enough to let you have one of their precious pups why would you not turn to them first? I found out a couple of things 2nd hand and I can tell you I was less then impressed.
  7. If I were you, I'd be worrying about ensuring that the pup gets better, and doing everything you can to ensure that. Money would be the last of my concerns, But money is a concern for most people, including me.
  8. I'd agree with this. If it was a little upset tummy then no, but it sounds much more serious.
  9. you should have let the breeder know right away. Certainly do so now. Why is your first thought what are my rights? Sh!t happens to everyone, including good breeders and good owners. There was a flight inbetween the breeder and you as well. What possibly happened there? The best way to approach them is to let them know the pup is sick, what your vet said and that you will let them know what the test results show as soon as you know. Lose all thoughts of "your rights". If the breeder is a good one they will be more upset then you that the puppy they bred and loved is ill. They have loved and cared for her for 8 weeks. It's possible the stress of the flying might have triggered something, it's all conjecture at this stage.
  10. Most breeders breed because they love the breed, they want to see the breed continue into the future.
  11. Congratulations! Olivia well deserved it. We were thrilled, after having the only hound neuter being shown in Vic for so long, that there were 5 entered on the weekend!
  12. Are you saying Moorook is a well respected organisation? I want to check you really mean that. If you have read this thread you should know a bit more about what really happens at Moorook. I guess if you think hoarders who are up on some pretty serious cruelty charges and keep unrehomeable dogs for years on end in small cages till they go mad are well respected then I don't think anything I say will change your mind. I won't even start on the cat situation Thankfully most people know this is wrong and are doing all they can to help these animals after years of rspca inactivity. I gather you have been there then, have inspected the premises thoroughly and know everything there is to know about it, based on your personal observations? if you had bothered to read the whole thread then you might have some answers to your questions skelp2
  13. couldn't see the ring from where we were, the rings were all seperate with gazebo's set up between, loads of space but we could only see our ring
  14. The flowers look like Red Hot Pokers and Bob looks pretty good too!
  15. Do whatever you need to do to keep your baby safe doggleworth. You are in my thoughts.
  16. Fern, my greyhound bitch has different size pupils and has had them for years now. Vision is good. Never causes her problems. The bigger one seems to remain the same size with no obvious constriction but she can certainly see out of it. I've never taken her to a specialist just the local vet.
  17. Really? So people who are registered breeders of working dog registries or other registries are not welcome here on this forum? you know that's not true but beagles are not working register they are ANKC.
  18. you won't be able to breed your dog and get registered puppies.
  19. you did your best Honeybun, very hard to get chilled puppies going again. R.I.P little ones
