  1. There is no right or wrong way to approach a breeder, except for the one liners, but I always answered those as well. If you don't get a reply then follow it up in a couple of weeks. Breeders are people too and have work and personal life to attend too. I work night shift, email me in the middle of a stint of nights and yes I'll reply some days later ( if I don't forget! ). Don't ask them to ring you, ask for a time you can ring them. You might only have to pay for a couple of phone calls. A breeder of a popular breed might have a couple, or more, a day. It all adds up, especially if it's a mobile. I must admit the one thing that gets up my nose is being told that you (generic you) are the perfect home. I'll make up my own mind about that thank you very much :D
  2. No...I did not realise there were 3. I only knew of the Perth club. I looked up the breed on the Dogzonline home page. There is a 14 month old available to the right home. http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/community/bernese-mountain-dog.asp
  3. I see there are 3 breed clubs for Bernese, have you tried joining one or all of them?
  4. The ony way you will come home with a pet shop puppy is if you go in and buy one. Depending on the breed it may take longer then 2 years. What breeds are you interested in? Did you follow up your emails with phone calls?
  5. It's up to the individual club. I always make up my own mind, I don't wait for a club to do it for me. I just consider the entry fees a donation if I decide not to go to a show. For whatever reason.
  6. in my breed you could easily wait 2 years or more to get a pup. There are very few people out there who want one. And even fewer that are suitable. So it certainly doesn't make breeding more very attractive. I had a school principal try and tell me that greyhounds were non shedding, she had read it on the net so it must be true. Didn't want to believe me when I told her that was not true, in fact she outright didn't believe me and challenged me on it. She was a high school principle, she knew much better then me, that was her whole attitude. Didn't want to listen to me at all. No hope of educating her.
  7. When I did the 2 ET's way back at the beginning they were held later in the winter, Aug/Sept. Which was great for me cause it is so hot here that serious training can't really start before April and I actually preferred May to start off in.

  9. well you obviously can't cause my red bitch has a skin irritation, most likely a contact allergy, as it's on her paws and belly. Both sites are clearly visible in the photo I put up. You have made several silly comments in this thread. This is the worst one though.
  10. Nice work Hastey. There were some people taking pics of Group 4 on Friday, am wondering if they happened to get any photo's of the greyhounds?
  11. But your earlier contention is that you can tell the health of a british bulldog from photos. Some photos you can, same with any other breed. photo taken on the 16th Dec, please tell me what is wrong with the red bitch Now you're just being silly. I said "some" and stated earlier that it was obvious visual signs of illness. Agreeing to disagree on this one. :) no I am not, you said you can tell by looking at a photo if a dog is healthy or not. So I am asking you to put your money where your mouth is. The bitch has a problem, what is it?

  13. I also requested videos I just went and checked YouTube, found a video of a BB whelping a litter of 7 and one of a BB running amok while out for a walk. Took me less then 2 minutes to find them. Are you sure they weren't animatronic because apparently that's impossible  I did get fooled by the eagle and baby video

  15. mostly you can't see teeth in photo's and often can't see skin problems either.
  16. I wouldn't determine the health of a dog via a photo. I'm not sure how anyone could. I've seen enough in real life to know that bbs are at a severe disadvantage. Breeders can justify it all they like but action in a positive direction is much better. I'm glad to see that they are working toward fixing these issues. And photos are great ways to determine health, we use them in a vet nursing assignments all the time. sorry but that's just rubbish, you can't tell just by looking at a photo that the dog is healthy. I could show you photo's of my GSD who had severe HD and you would never pick it. In fact I could have shown her to you in the flesh and you still wouldn't have picked it.
  17. I've seen several, they were posted on FB, after Crufts this year. I saw those we can't have seen the same ones cause I saw fit and happy BB's, yet you say you have yet to see one.
