Need Help With Calcium And Heating Information
Rebanne replied to Ptolomy's topic in Breeders Community
I gave my bitch 5mls of calcium after the first 3 pups were born, then every 45 - 60 minutes until she had her c-section a few hrs later. I used a reptile heat lamp for my winter litter, plugged it into a themostat and kept the room at around 25 degrees, 24 hrs a day for the first 2 weeks, then phased it out. -
Being a complete stranger and a new member in no way means someone has no dog knowledge. There ARE other places to learn about dogs other than dogzonline forum. Some people have been posting on here for years. Its obvious they haven't learned much, and they are complete strangers to me! please point out where I said the OP had no dog knowledge. What they have done is set themselves up as a dog trainer 'ask me for help' all I have done is try to find out, for the benefit of others I might add, just what makes them suitable to do so. I've seen plenty of newbies come in and offer advice which is downright dangerous and other newbies think it's great. Usually an older poster or two points out what is wrong with the advice given, they get jumped on by all the newbies and told off for daring to question so and so's advice and so it goes, until sheer weight in numbers disproving dangerous advice gets through to the new comers. I am not saying the OP has posted dangerous advice BTW.

your welcome and I haven't ruined anything. You can ask all the advice you want from a complete stranger who has been a member two minutes.

yes expected due date is 61 days after the surgical AI. My repo vets were happy to wait an extra 48 hrs but day 63 was it, absolutely no later. Fern had her c-section about 30 hrs after the due date/time. agree better a live pup then a dead one.
-
when I used frozen semen my vet gave me a date that the bitch must have had the pups by or else we had to do a c-section. Fern only had 2 and never went into labour. From talking to others some repo vets are quite strong in wanting C-sections if bitch does not deliver by due date. They do not want the pups to go over 63 days.

points 3 and 4 came later. And yes I read your last long post. I wonder how people on your previous forum would have felt if someone noone knew came on offering to help sort out their doggy problems? No one would query them? Plenty of people on here have been burnt in the past from so called experts, my question was and still is valid. eta and BTW you did write a response to someone else after my question had been asked so that answers point 2 as well. have a nice day :)

Where have I been less then polite? You have been a member less then 3 weeks and come offering advice on a dog breed that is under threat from BSL. You were on DOL after I asked my question. Helping hand/suggestions are still training advice and I think it is only fair to the other new members that you state your experience in these matters. People don't know you from Adam, as the saying goes.

IMO Yes when you are offering your services you should post what/why/where the things that make you qualified to offer help.

sometimes, still haven't got a reply to two emails sent to them ages ago. I did find out what I wanted elsewhere but curiousity led me to resending the unanswered email and neither have been replied to.

still waiting for a reply please :D

Hi deghj, can you please post your qualifications regarding dog training, obedience and behavioural matters? Many thanks

I saw a very happy baby puppy trotting around the ring at the Canberra Royal carrying their lead in their mouth. Didn't do any harm to his/her chances as they won their class. :D

snail mail entries have closed but yes OzEntries are still open for a few more days. :D It's looking to be a great entry

Whats the difference between a crate and a cot?

What??? No way I am going around slapping my dog just so he doesn't react if some feral kid does this to him. I'm more likely to slap the kid.

I don't like where they put the tattoo. I wouldn't be wanting to search for it if the dog ends up in the pound. And interesting that they use zinc as zinc tablets is what people are told to use to help the testicles drop and stay down, amongst other things.

that's too bad, can't be helped, stay safe everyone

I'm still waiting for my Gazette

Ok To Advertise Puppies In The Classifieds?
Rebanne replied to Mrs Rusty Bucket's topic in General Dog Discussion
in my breed, greyhounds, very very few people are aware they can be bought as puppies. And it's really hard to get a pup from show or race bred dogs. Show bred are few and far between, and race bred aren't sold normally to people as pets. I do direct people to the race bred pups listings but the starting price is often $2000. No breed club for greyhounds and not many showing so advertising is the only way to go. -

I voted yes. How else are the general public going to be able to get hold of a quality puppy? So many people don't know where to look 'cept for the papers or places like Gumtree. IMO it doesn't matter where you advertise, it's how you vet the people that counts. -
I cam home and found the firey's parked outside my next door neighbours house. Did make me jump but no burning buildings here.

and how do you know that no one here could identify her? Even so she does not deserve to be bought up here on a dog forum just so you can try and prove a point. Cases involving people are usually discussed with other like minded professionals. A professional would know that.
