  1. easy, the rude owners of the rude dogs would say it shouldn't be there. My nervous old girl did love her walks but those rude dogs did have the potential to ruin it for her, hence my carrying a riding crop and using it. Off lead area near a river = free for all. ETA I gave up walking this dog cause there were just too many idiots to contend with. She made do with runs with the greyhounds at the slipping track ;)
  2. sorry for quoting it all but the above post is spot on!
  3. My local off leash areas are not fenced and are in fact walking tracks popular with everyone. What do you suggest I do with my greyhound, that by law, can not be let off lead?
  4. I suggest you read the article I posted, "He Justs Wants To Say Hi" talks a lot about rude dogs and how they cause the bad behaviour by rushing at dogs minding their own business.
  5. I'm with Medibank, 2 dogs under the 100% cover after $100 excess and one under 80% cover and no excess. I'm happy with that and unless the bill runs into thousands the 80% no excess is actually a better deal. Recently has a vet bill for $110, would have got back $10 if I had bothered to send it in ( 100% cover, $100 excess). Under the 80% would have got back $88. I've had a few like that in the past few years that I haven't bothered to claim but I will on the one with the 80% cover.
  6. but now you say you don't want any advice
  7. your kidding right? 3 half hour walks are way too much for any 12 week old puppy let alone a rottie. It's an excellent way to wreck their joints. Just put the pup outside to have a bit of fun zooming around. It's what puppies do.
  8. the only assistance this woman requires is to get her tubes tied so she doesn't breed anymore.
  9. for being a great owner and protecting your dog. As for the owner of the rude dog, well, it's not printable
  10. how do you know the dog is not dangerous? and that the rulings passed on the dog are not fair? you don't; but the council has seen all the evidence and acted upon it. I have no time for an agressive dog.
  11. I would have suggested a chiropractor but also pointed out, gently, that the dog is aging. And been thinking to myself, WTF? There is nothing you could have done, the dog has been perfectly healthy, they have had her for over 8 years with no problems, now she is getting old. Like us all. Maybe their vet is telling them stuff and they are looking to make a claim on you for vet costs
  12. My greyhounds haven't I would be sad too if they stopped
  13. I won't be coming now BB have sent you a PM.
  14. put the pup outside to run off steam, let it back in when calm.
  15. I'm not sure of the name silly me didn't write it down so I have some phone calling to do tomorrow. Will let you know though. I think it was called park lane but not really sure.
  16. I got my numbers back and all present and accounted for :D I'm staying in a pet friendly cabin at one of the caravan parks.
  17. Yes I am open to suggestions I will run greyhound past the big chief :D we only walk every second day at the moment because we have a huge back yard which backs on to an open field with abit of bush so most days I just open the gate and have a walk around there. Then the other days we walk to the beach. no to a greyhound then, no letting them loose to run around in the bush.
  18. I think the point was: it is up to the owner to protect their dog, to make their dog feel safe, no matter what is happening around it. I posted the link to the article to make people think about just how rude are they and their dogs. I know I cringed inwardly when I read it the very first time, I know it opened my eyes very wide to how others viewed my actions and those of my dog. I know it made me a much better dog owner.
  19. go for it! Suzanne has a lot of great article etc at http://flyingdogpress.com/
  20. yep, an oldie but a goodie, it's an amazing article
  21. Article should be read by all dog owners
  22. I had Fern done 3 years ago and all she needed was to be permamently idenitfied by microchip. When I got the results back from the reader there was a form with them asking for a full copy of her pedigree so they (the vets?, AVA)could enter it all on their database. I didn't bother as Fern would most likely have been the only greyhound on it. So you could get your dogs xrayed and scored then and I don't see why you can't get it done nowadays.
  23. yes Warrior is the boy I have kept, the brindle boy, now know as Merlin, has gone to live with his sister at Kanati Whippets
  24. Merlin (who was Stirling) won on Friday but otherwise it is Warrior :D Cutest baby Beagle won group every day.
  25. Ok..so if I put both names on the SAE, and sign "for" the other owner...and make a list of the sec's that want seperate SAE. Thanks all. The separate envelopes bit is printed on all Vice schedules. Both names would be very helpful.
