  1. in 18 years of living at the same address I have only had rangers do their door to door check once! Even though they do it annually. And I only had to show them one tag, they never asked to see all of them. (The collar and tag were hanging on hook on the front porch). I have never ever, wherever I have lived, been spoken to a ranger while out walking my dog, so have never had one check my dogs collar for tags. One of mine lost their tag soon after the I got the new ones, I still haven't got a replacement ;) I'll get a new one in April when I renew
  2. I would just break the law and take the chance of being busted and not desex any pet of mine until I felt the time was right, then I would register it. These laws won't stop the BYB in any way shape or form. If one of their breeding dogs got out and picked up by the council they would just get another. Easy peasy. Just another nail in the coffin for responsible pet owners, quite a few who know what they are doing. How about the council enforce the laws already in place? Oh hang on that would take time and effort, whereas a dog impounded once is an easy target. No need for any one to do much work there. At the very least there should be some leeway for the accidental escape of a dog. In over 30 years of dog ownership I have had a dog loose from my yard once! and that was because it was let out by a vindictive neighbour. And I was very pleased she was in the pound, somewhat safe, not so pleased some randy lab was trying to rape her when I went to pick her up within 30 minutes of being impounded.
  3. it shows on the dogs paper's who the owner is and where they live. So for your name to be on the papers it does show that you were/are a member of the VCA.
  4. umm some do fade, in fact lots fade, some only after a year or two. And most animals are microchipped when wide awake so tattoo's indicating they are microchipped would be quite rare.
  5. Anyone, vet or pound can see if a dog male or female is desexed as they have a tattoo placed on the ear. They also tattoo the other ear if it is microchipped, but not every vet does this. Our vet does, and its great when you only have to look to know for sure. Lynn tattoo's fade and can't be seen and I have never heard of a vet putting another tattoo in the ear when a dog is microchipped. All my dogs are microchipped and they don't have a tattoo saying so, nor would I allow them to do so.
  6. what a terrible, judgemental, sweeping, statement to make
  7. Thank you, you said what I wanted to but couldn't word it properly.
  8. Is there a canteen or similar at Bulla?
  9. Ah-ha!! Finally someone has picked out my favourite I think she is stunning, is she staying with you? Not at home - but she is my keeper. She'll be living with a friend of mine, co-owned by me, and I'll be showing her. I'll have to get cuddles then one day at a show

  11. well it will never happen to yours if you train the bloody thing properly. How do you think owners of bitches get on?
  12. I have no idea how I missed this thread, all those puppers are but Star is extra lovely.
  13. Oh I would love to see this, in the car park, at a show :p Wonder how funny that would be? And all us nutters cracking up :D well you know it's not always easy to get water exactly on the spot, you stand back and fling it hoping most covers what you are trying to clean and if there is a dog in the way
  14. have a search on youtube for videos of dogs in the ring, I doubt there is any from Ekka Greyhound stakes from previous years but there are others available.
  15. Seriously, you had no idea that people don't like dogs using their personal property as a toilet How very 90's! What about when your dog goes to the loo in a public place (ie a dog club) or on a nature strip. Someone *owns* that grass or that post you know, so you are letting your pet defecate on their personal property This thread cracks me up My dog weed on a bush on a nature strip once. The owner of the nearest house came out screaming abuse at me. I thought he was a lone nutter, but obviously others feel the same. glad you think this thread is a crack up but your dog won't when it gets a foot up the backside for weeing on someone elses property. And you won't think it funny if your dog wears a bucket of water either.
  16. I have one like Ish has but I got mine from Aldi for around $30. I use it for the crates. I also bought an old but good wooden dog trolley off ebay for under $60 and I put all my odds and ends in there, like my chair, the walls for the gazebo, etc, saves making multiple trips
  17. I'm the same Pam, won't be there until 8.30 ish. Luckily someone is minding me a gazebo spot but no idea about the car park, or anything else for that matter
  18. I know it's only January but I need a polar fleece coat made for my greyhound Piper. I want one with the legs (longish) on it but I need it velcro'ed along the back so he steps into it. I also want the body part double layer and a turtle neck on it. He doesn't do well with bending those long legs anymore. :D
  19. my vet said to only release the dog after the object has stopped. Saves any weird bounces, turns etc
  20. in the state of Victoria cats are treated the same as dogs. If it strays onto your property, whether it is wearing a collar or not, you are entitled to remove said animal to the pound. Cats and dogs are not allowed to wander outside their own property.
  21. Ever been attacked by a dog B&S? Or had your dog attacked by one? fortuntely no and no. i can understand possibly carrying a stick for protection but large poles and planks of wood? that get waved around at every opportunity? its madness it's not madness to the person with the phobia
